Great informative video.. I'm a chef/owner of 2 foodservice operations. One is corporate and the other is a school system. We have been forced to be out of work since Mid March. So I understand all the chain operations that come into the industry. March/April was something people will never forget. Thanks again and what an interesting job you have, love it!

The global food supply is oil and gas dependant. 1. Transport from farm to our local shops is powered by diesel from oil. 2. Farm machinery is powered by diesel. 3. Farmers use fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals made from oil and gas. Please Google:- Green revolution. The Green revolution happened around the time I was born. When I was born in 1948 there were 2 billion people living on planet Earth. Now there is 7 billion. The population trebled during my lifetime. The Green revolution made that possible by increasing food production X 3. Mankind cannot pump undiscovered oil. The discovery of oil peaked in 1964. In 2019 Rystad Energy reported that the global discovery of oil was 9 billion barrels PA. Enough to run the world for 3 months. Mankind consumes 36 billion barrels PA. 9 billion barrels is 27 billion barrels short of what is required. When demand exceeds supply the price will escalate. Expensive oil means expensive food. Maybe some hard decisions have to be made about continuing a green revolution that just encourages more population growth and ultimately more misery...
Truth be told, Theres alot of the Western World who are likely malnutriciened because a majority of food intake is empty fillers and preservatives. The World can be Fed easily if it was Nutricien focused and NOT just consumption based. FastFood and Potatoe chips are filler foods that lead to Heart,Diabetes, depression etc etc. Its what one eats thats important. There are 500-700lb people that are literally starving themselves to death.😕
I would say that there were two unfortunate incidents that occurred during the beginning of the emergency...One being that although the consumer got what they needed, the farmer did not. Two, farmers had to dump food instead of being able to transfer that food to other areas or countries.

western countries categorise India as lower middle incom country . they call themselves rich countries rest of the world : flour shortage ,toilet paper sortage while India : india assured 20 kg floor 20 kg rice 1 kg pulses twice a month to each family having 4 members through public distribution system while 30 kg both rice and floor to each family below poverty level . food corporation of india assured food security of there people instead we r providing flour to some other poor nations like Afghanistan africa etc.

So in March the preppers suddenly didn't look so crazy anymore did they? Guess who wasn't contributing to the panic and chaos of the general public's shortage of supplies? If you had been able to afford to stock up beforehand you should have, even a $1 can at a time. Now you know... best wishes and learn from the past.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 True, I was making an assumption based on my experience. No one I know did and we've only been to the store to buy milk since April.
It's an important staple for poorer populations, and less glutinous flour isn't as bad for you as extra glutinous flour. Carbs are really important for those who cannot afford certain proteins.
@Aquarian American what's over reaching about a fact? Wheat is horrible for you. Especially modern day conventionally raised wheat. Its loaded with phytic acids, its bad for your teeth in over consumption and horrible for your gut.

Another thing to think about, do we really need to keep exploiting and killing animals for our calories, or is it avoidable?
