- In this video I review a 1980s icon, the W126 S-class. This is a 420 SEL from 1989, which is the long wheelbase version (V126) and is for sale at Unique Motor Garage in Petersham.

This was my dream car when I was a kid. Grew up in Hong Kong in the 80s and these were very popular. They were a status symbol.
I hope to own one some day.
I was in my teens in the 80s and wanted a 500 SEC from the same line!
Very Very beautifull w126 !!
Thanks 🙏🏻
From 🇫🇷
lol .. old mercedes,,, boring
We all should have a w126 meet up
Had one of these years ago: magnificent ! Had that effortless "glide" feeling you only get with very big, superbly built cars. Seamless gearshifts, silent on tickover. Quite nippy for a tank-sized car.
Wonderful condition for its age and mileage. Someone takes pride it in. Never heard they distinction between a w126 and a v126.
What a beauty! Smoke Silver is such a classy and timeless colour! Very elegant too!
How is your CL500 doing?
gorgeous car when mercs made real cars
With governments forcing us into electric cars and new cars having far too much crap on them a car like this, in this condition, would make an excellent long term investment in motoring.
Didn’t realise you done car reviews
294,000 miles, what a beautiful car that is!
Beautiful car but that handle for the parking brake is really weird, in the US we got a nice flush handle on the dash
Gimme a Lincoln town car from the 80s over Mercedes any day
Sure if you only need to go in a straight line !
You have got to be kidding.
@@dannyeadens7808 Lincoln’s were incredible. Actually I saw a Chrysler New Yorker from the 70s a dude restored, that car was amazing.
I suppose some people r loyal to certain brands though. I just judge a car as it is, not the logo
😊👌
Lol my John Cooper Works Mini 2.0l 4 puts out more power and torque
It may, but will it still be driving around in 35 years
@@BEGGARWOOD1 Not a chance is hell it will be on the road in 35 yrs. It will also fold up like an accordion in a bad wreck. Oh, and no way a tall human can sit in the back. And......and....and....
@@lbowsk my S class is nearly 40 years old I am 6ft 2 and can sit in the back quite comfortably. It’s a solid as the day it rolled off the production line and I will try not to crash it . I have friends who own Mercedes that are twice the age of mine and they are still on the road
@@BEGGARWOOD1 I'm speaking about the guy with the Mini Cooper. I know your 126 will be here because I own a pristine 1990 560SEC. Love the sedans as well. Buddy has an immaculate 420SEL. I am 6'3" and LOVE to ride in the back.
@@lbowsk ahh sorry !
i own a 420SE (short wheelbase). it's the dreamcar from my childhood. this one is a really beautiful example in it's original style and given how much km it has driven. Also interesting Australia, like US market, didn't get the performance upgrade from around 87/88.
Rust obviously not a problem in Oz.
Lovely but can’t help think the refurbed rims look like they’ve been sprayed with silver paint from a car diy shop. Wrong shade of silver completely.
Beautiful car, no doubt
.
Thanks for the feedback. Will pass on.
I have driven my 91 560 SEC foe 24 years now, it is a true dream to drive. I take it to many local car shows and it is creating a lot of interest lately. One gentleman approached me and said, "I'm from Germany and only the High Rollers and the Pimps drove these cars!" The car is well maintained and has had no major issues.
