The man who taught Liam Neeson for the "Taken" Films is Mick Gould, a former member of the british SAS. The system Mick taught Liam is called Nagasu Do. A sharp edged ju-jutsu style.
Maybe the first film. Not sure about the second film. I've seen Mick Gould's work on Heat and Collateral. I don't think he would approve of this fight scene. But I could be wrong, I never looked it up.
The man Liam Neeson is fighting in this clip. Taught him Filipino martial arts. Even tho laim neeson says there’s no fighting style in taken. Which idk why he says that it’s obvious there’s martial arts in the films
I agree! They we're better off keeping on the right side (towards Liam left side) and keep it at a position. Most of the best shots was done at that position!!!!!
Almost all of the sequence is straight Wing Chun with both of the combatants mirroring each other. When you talk about trapping the arm to the body to be less pattycake, this is Gum Sao. But honestly, everything in it is WC from Pak Sao to Biu Sao, Tan Sao, Fut Sao, Gan Sao, Jut Sao. I'd never seen that before but by you breaking it down to that pace, it becomes instantly clear how the fight scene might as well be a Wing Chun demo video.
I remember once I saw a post (I don't remember the place) that someone asked the creator or the choreographer the fighting style, he answered that it was a combination of kali with wing chun.
I don't know but there is something about this particular scene in this movie that makes me keep watching it on and on and i think u just satisfied my curiosity... That Albanian dude gave Liam one hell of a time
Love your work!!! Very clear, very cool. I guess i´d be not the first one asking to analyze all Bourne movies? =)) Not 1988 of course. Cheers, greetz from Germany. Your Fan.
edi its an arm trap.u shud sweep after this.the leg on the trapped arm side. but.this works 10x better if someone has mounted u on the ground.this is a staple move in bjj.
Thanks for another amazing video. I was looking here for that scene in Taken 1, where Lian Neeson, using a broken bottle, fights a guy with a Karambit. Have you guys studied that combat? Again congratulations for all awesome videos you guys make, I imagine how tough it is to break down those fighting sequences.
Nicely done as always Joey! May I make a request for Cyborg multiple attacker scene in abandon warehouse? Normally I would not request a JCVD fight but it is surprisingly pretty awesome. Its located 20 min or so into movie
Thanks so much! You're request is noted sir...I really enjoyed Cyborg back in the day and wish it had a chance without the studio interfering, it would've been a much better film for its time if the director had creative control. I was just thinking about the same fight scene the other day lol
@@JoeyBslash3I remember once I saw a post (I don't remember the place) that someone asked the creator or the choreographer the fighting style, he answered that it was a combination of kali with wing chun.
What is Nagasu Do? Sounds Japanese, but from watching the moves I thought it might be Silat or Wingchun. I have just started learning a Filipino System since they seem the best place to learn weapons, but I’m looking for another unarmed ‘self defence’ system that works during high stress attacks to compliment the FMA. I am considering a combatives system like Krav Maga with teachers with experience in real violence (‘gross motor skills’?), something quickly learned that will work against 99% of common unskilled attackers (yet probably stronger drunk or on drugs) while I use the FMA to get weapons handling up to an effective level and then do more training in the unarmed FMA aspects which would probably be better than Krav Maga once my stress levels have lowered so I am able to do more ‘complex motor skills’ movements?, but what would you recommend instead? Thanks
What makes the fight scene good, is the villain (played by the movie's Stunt Co Ordinator Alain Figlarz) has menace and Suko - the character's name - doesn't look like Norris or Van Damme. The reason why I say that, is everyone knows what to expect from the latter two and Figlarz (who has a host of movies under his belt) makes a formidable Stunt Co Ordinator - don't be surprised if he's in high demand!.
Is this Kali? I think it's Kali, because of trapping and countering. It's almost like they're fighting with knives. P.S.Imma still gonna nag you about Kirk VS Gorn, Joey. >:]
Though I liked this stand-off as a whole, the techniques used there are kind of strange This was a problem in the whole movie, take a fight in the street with batons - he does a move, but he doesn't continue it, he breaks the arm but then he does a pressure on the eyes leaving the hand with baton completely free for a strike Same here, it looks like they are two kittens smashing paws into each other
Great videos! Why not an analys about the final knife fight in the movie « under siege » with Steven Seagal and Tommy Lee Jones? It could be very interesting!
The martial arts is good but my god Oliver megaton directed the last two taken movies terribly, fantastic break down joey, another Liam fight you should check out is the bathroom fight in non-stop.
I agree with you: it's nice to see trapping, but the execution was mediocre at best. It looked like friendly sparring at times without intent and too little direct attacks. Morover, I would try to avoid to repeat angles. For instance, I would have gone for a kidney shot, when my first attack fails and I get in the exact same position again...
Looks like a lot of “wasteful” arm patting. You shouldn’t have to pat the arm 3 times to redirect it. You address this toward the end of the vid. Good analysis 👍🏽.
I broke down the fight as best I could as the scene was fast or cut quickly between the techniques and difficult to work out all that went on: th-cam.com/video/pm32L_iy-f4/w-d-xo.html
This scene is awful. From the terrible overediting to the nonsense choreo. Who checks one punch 3 times? Who stands there long enough to let you do that? A bunch of pointless slapping and repetition hidden by 37,000,000 cuts.
Yessssss.....finally you did it. My prayer has been answered.
Lol, I told you I would get to it
I like the exchanges. Plus the joint lock attempt was really good.
Yea, they did go back and forth quite well here
Hey. Welcome back, dude. This one sure needs time to prepare. Those movements are pretty fast. Good work on analyzing it.
Thanks, and yes, this one was the most difficult to figure out so far...
Hey buddie , great video, I Like the way you teach step by step, wonderfull my friend, your videos always have good instructions
Thanks, this is just breaking down the choreography. This is not self defense
The martial art used here is actualy Nagasu Do, but the moves are very much similar with Eskrima empty hands.
The man who taught Liam Neeson for the "Taken" Films is Mick Gould, a former member of the british SAS. The system Mick taught Liam is called Nagasu Do. A sharp edged ju-jutsu style.

Wow, thanks! We appreciate the support
Hey man, I’ve seen your videos and you’re a the greatest, I want to fight like you!!!
thanks for watching
Awesome break down guys, you videos are so much clear and unbelievable practicality placed.
Thanks, we try our best
The empty hand techniques is called Pagamot. It's pretty effective! It's heavily used in Pekiti Tersia Kali......
Yes indeed, there is some good stuff here, just hard to see
I agree! They we're better off keeping on the right side (towards Liam left side) and keep it at a position. Most of the best shots was done at that position!!!!!
Yes on the part 2 of the fight. Great video, loved the passing the strikes, and arm trapping.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
The tactics in this video is good
Techniques...maybe...tactics...not so much in my opinion
Almost all of the sequence is straight Wing Chun with both of the combatants mirroring each other. When you talk about trapping the arm to the body to be less pattycake, this is Gum Sao. Cool insight

😂 lol indeed
Interested technique joey and great job 👍
Thanks
When part 2 release? I waiting for a long time.
I know bro, sorry for the long wait
@@JoeyBslash3 I love this channel. It's very cool but sometime like this video part 2 I waiting for a long time. Haha
Yes, fight scene 2
AWESOME ! do the warehouse scene in Batman vs superman please
I plan on it ☺
JoeyBslash 3 thanks! gonna be really cool. keep up the work !
What’s fighting style ? Awesome. Thanks agAin
In the first film, they say Tang So Do
Great video joey the taken trilogy was the best
Thanks bro, I still havent seen the 3rd one.
nice joey.u neeeeed to do a masterclass online
Thanks. For sure bro...working on it
Please analysis non stop film fight scene toilet flight that really hard to choreograph😎
I never saw this collapsed arm before. What would you do as a follow up, when you get your opponent into that position after a punch or chop?
edi its an arm trap.u shud sweep after this.the leg on the trapped arm side. but.this works 10x better if someone has mounted u on the ground.this is a staple move in bjj.
Sweep is a good follow up. I will do a video to show some possible follow ups.
JoeyBslash 3 thank you!
No problem

Slingers are pretty cool lol
nice work, guys. would you pleade upload the equalizer russian fight scene breakdown?
I will sometime. I have it on the "to do" list
JoeyBslash 3 Thanks. waiting for it.
I love this channel
Can you do blade v nomak final fight scene blade 2?
Do more of this scene! Even if it's in different parts.
For sure bro!
Rumble In The Bronx (Jackie Chan) has a few techniques that get me curious. I see a bit of Wing Chun and (if I'm not mistaken) Kenpo
I haven't seen that film in a long time, but it was a great one for sure
Thanks Joey B Slash 3! Wanted to ask though, would you consider that traditional or street wing chun? Or am I looking at a bit of empty handed Kali?
Honestly, there is probably both lol. From what I've trained, there is definitely some of the empty hands kali coordination work in here.

Nice breakdown! 🙌🏼 when can we have a Batman Arkham Asylum silent takedown breakdown video 😅😅
Eventually bro...I might keep those until the online school or a dvd download
OSS !!! Sensei
oss!
What about unleashed (danny the dog) fights?
There could definitely be some good videos made from those fight scenes.
Is this Kali? I think it's Kali, because of trapping and countering. It's almost like they're fighting with knives. P.S.Imma still gonna nag you about Kirk VS Gorn, Joey. >:]
Some of what you see here can be considered Kali. Lol, I know bro...eventually I will do a goofy video about it
Though I liked this stand-off as a whole, the techniques used there are kind of strange

Jack Miller I agree, he's far too open a lot of times.
Yea, the choreography for this film isn't very good and they supplement it with super quick cuts and many different angles.
can you do a video of sniper elite4?
Dont they already have X-ray moves? I look forward to playing it. I'm a fan of the series. I just finished 3 not too long ago
I really would like to see the fight breakdown from the movie "Call me King ". It's the 52 blocks fighting style.
Awesome. you earned a subscribe from me.

Do you mean the fight on the subway, or the fight outside on the streets?
The martial arts is good but my god Oliver megaton directed the last two taken movies terribly, fantastic break down joey, another Liam fight you should check out is the bathroom fight in non-stop.
Thanks, this one was probably the hardest to figure out so far lol
I will check that one out
Just a thought... where are the kicks??? There are several times where mae geri and mawashi geri wud have killed the gangster or liam himself!!!
The scene seems to incorporate JKD or Wing Chung. It reminded me of old clips of Bruce Lee teaching his students.

Where's part 2 ?????
How did you manage to analyze this fight scene? It's so poorly edited that it's almost impossible to tell what's going on.
This one was the most difficult to figure out what was going on so far out of all the movie FSBs
That would make sense.
Ha indeed
I feel Liam neeson wasted effort on the first move blocking it 3 times
Well, there is a reason for that movement, but I know what you mean
It's eskrima martial arts. A filipino empty hand martial art

Therr is a reason for the 3 checks. But yes, the choreography here is a bit lack luster and the editing sure does make it hard to understand

Good job! Thank you!
Looks like silat
Guys dont try this in real life you end up in hospital this is just for move not in real life
Its all krav maga...
So, it was terrible editing to cover up bad choreography, got it. _YOU_ guys were great. The movie was terrible!
So it was a really boring fight, poor fight choreography
Liam Neeson is a joke.
No, Matt the rod sucker
Part 2?
