The fact that an unfinished game made by a rather small development team is able to do so many things WAY better than pretty much every established title in the genre really is telling of how incredible the end result could be.
I love the genre, and Last Epoch still needs a lot of work, IMO. The only thing I could agree it does "best" is item crafting. I do love its crafting system. It's mostly what I've always wanted in an ARPG; the ability to pull affixes off of things and add them to other things.
Big companies are actually like dinosaurs in making any big changes. Like Heartstone - that game is fun, but fundamentally flaud in it's design. When you try Marvel Snap you actually realize that the card games can be made FUN and not pay to win or "win by playing meta".
Poe was developed by a bunch of guys in a garage and disintegrated diablo, which was the creator of the genre and child of mama blizzard. Played this for about 250 hours. Best part is the customization, a skill tree for every skill is just nuts. And they're very creative so not just some lazy +10% damage and stuff. As you said, Campaign is not easy mode - you might die from time to time and have to think about what you're doing instead of mashing one button. Endgame was okay one year ago but it lacked content and getting an item upgrade felt almost impossible with all the RNG to it. Since then they added this new crafting system, new uniques and new endgame activities, so i can't wait for release and getting back to this game. I hope they can release it before D4 so it might get the attention it deserves. In terms of complexity i'd rate it similar to Grim Dawn. If you can't get in to PoE as a new player because it's too complex this is the game for you.

one small correction: potions can drop when you are at full. and they added a thing where if you are not at full health and you run over a potion that dropped while at full capacity on your belt, you automatically drink it really big QOL there
What a gargantuan undertaking this whole series is, and I'm here for every second of it. Especially looking forward to the more in-depth playthroughs of the ARPGs that make the cut as that's where a lot of the cracks in their game designs start to show.
I hope you do one on Dungeon Siege II and it's expansion Broken World. The community support is awesome. They remade the Dungeon Siege 1 and Legends of Aranna. Among several others, including a diablo 1 remake with the DS2 engine.
Ive put 2300 hours into this game, spent 1000 dollars to design my own unique. I love Last Epoch to death, cant wait for it to blow up. If youre holding out getting it because its not released yet, for 30 dollars its an absolute steal, the sheer amount of content on offer at this point already makes it more than worth it and multiplayer is supposedly coming this year.
@@dizzy2020 yeah that is the concern really, but if they can get multiplayer out without breaking anything I cant see a scenario in which the game fails, the foundation is too solid.

Gotta say, cause of this video I caved and picked it up. Yeah, its really good. Community is sort of in a 'woe is me' due to multiplayer patch and lack of updates, but I've sunk way too many hours in for having it less than a week and I have no regrets. New poe league out? Yeah tried it went back to last epoch(and occasionally farming on my barb in d2). Good game gets a ton of stuff right. Everythings like real approachable yet clearly complex enough to satisfy. Finds a good balance in almost everything and hardcore playing has been rewarding. Ty man.
Last Epoch is easily the best ARPG I've played so far. The story is the right length, the end game is varied (more coming, so it will get better!) and the skill customisation is fantastic (tangible without being overwhelming).
From your review it seems like it actually took the good things from Diablo 3 that it has vastly superior to other games. I might give it a try, seems really neat.
When I started playing LE 2 years ago I was thinking the same "Omg, this is Diablo 3 with some adventage" but after few hours I just changed my mind to "Omg this is Diablo 2 with some adventage from D3 and PoE". For people like me that liked Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, Diablo 2 and PoE - this game is the best ARPG.
My legit only gripe is I can't recommend it to anybody unless it's on sale until multiplayer is done. Multiplayer is make or break for a lot of my peers that love these kind of games, and the amount of time they're taking to develop it, while good because it shows they care about getting it right, is getting painful.
You actually have 7,5 to 8 skill trees since you can invest in other subclasses' trees up to halfway Also, potions just drop randomly, you can only hold as much as your belt allows you but walking on one without being full life and having your belt full will just consume it instantly
i played the d4 beta and i found myself thinking about how awesome titan quest was and how i've never really found something that came close to it since. then i found this video and decided to try last epoch. i'm enjoying it so far. have a subscribe and a like, buddy.
@@danielgodinho2093 to me, last epoch and even titan quest, dated as it is at this point, are both superior games to the d4 beta - but that's just how i feel. you may feel differently.
If you like Titan Quest you may also like Grim Dawn as it was made by a team that worked on Titan Quest and a lot of the systems are similar. Those two and Last Epoch are definitely the best ARPGs on the market.
@@scipocelah6677 Can confirm. Grim Dawn and Last Epoch are a blast! Only recently got into Last Epoch so I don't have a *full* picture of it, but it's giving me similar amounts of joy to Grim Dawn's alpha and beta - and I went on to put ungodly amounts of hours into it.
also on another note while PoE does a lot of things right one thing it really falls short on imo is that almost every build consists of 1 attack + 1 defensive button + 1 movement button. sometimes defensive button is automated and not clicked. sometimes movement is your attack. sometimes you have 2 attacks for single target. my point is that generally optimized builds in poe uses very little variety. its just one skill you designed around and thats that. it makes it kinda lack diversity. a lot of poes problems come from its clear speed. you go so fast that anything that involves more meaningful gameplay and consideration is instantly unworth it. this is also the strength of poe, you go fast, you kill entire screens, big booms. however it gets old too. by slowing a game down a lot you can add more meaning to encounters and more things to do as part of the gameplay, instead of one button that clears entire screens.
Was almost sold on it then found out there's no multiplayer and that the feature has been "coming soon" for like a year lol That's a bit scary, but I'll keep an eye out for a full release, hopefully D4 doesn't steal its thunder by then.
I got bored after one playthrough but it definitely has a lot of good going for it. The skill system is top knotch, I just got overwhelmed by the loot system and endgame didn't grab me.. If you are looking for more ARPGS the best in class are baulders gate dark alliance 1, 2 and then the obvious progression is Champions of Norrath 1, 2.
I always find it amazing how you can give out so much information laced with so many swear words. Yes, I come back for the swear words. And the information, but mostly the swear words and the gooey clayfighter.
Managed to withstand the call of LAst Epoch so far, with the justification of waiting for full product and lack of time, but damn if this one didn't put the dent in my will to wait 😀Excellent job

As I do with any game, I looked up the update history... and wasn't impressed. The last update was in March, followed by over a month later by two small patches (a patch and a hotfix for the patch). @@lg6707fucking why not? Like what was the main reason? Not saying you’re wrong I’ve never played it but just saying you can’t recommend it isn’t helpful as someone looking to buy lol
seer still puttin out content of higher quality than the 5mil sub youtubers. god damn my boy the quality just stays high!
Will you be looking at 'Inquisitor: Martyr'? Would enjoy hearing your take on an ARPG that's SF rather than Fantasy.
Fate was actually the game that introduced me to the genre when I was 12. Then I played Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 into young adulthood. Now, years later, I'm finally getting around to Path of Exile and Titan Quest. At this point I'm just going to follow Seer for interesting content
Seer, you are quickly becoming my favourite TH-camr. You comedic delivery is on point and you're genuinely the only person on here who gets a genuine laugh out of me in every video, and to top it off you make some excellent points in these reviews as well as pointing out some lesser known games. Really great stuff man!
one small correction:
potions can drop when you are at full. and they added a thing where if you are not at full health and you run over a potion that dropped while at full capacity on your belt, you automatically drink it
really big QOL there
What a gargantuan undertaking this whole series is, and I'm here for every second of it.
This! DS I and II are fun games,
especially with patches and mods to make them look less early 2000s.
bruh the editing and time that went into this video. i honestly thought you wouldve had over a mil subs god damn. keep up the hard work itll pay off
Lmao dude I subbed in about 2mins of watching. Thanks for making this not only informative but entertaining as well 😂
Damn first video ive seen of this channel, high quality content. got my sub
Excellent work, have my sub - you deserve more! Great humor!
I'm curious to know which one is your item if it got in game or what it does if it's not in yet.
@@Mildriot Salt The Wound
@@dizzy2020 yeah that is the concern really, but if they can get multiplayer out without breaking anything I cant see a scenario in which the game fails, the foundation is too solid.
@@JayTheProduct I love that item, DoT is my favorite way to play the game.
@@unscathedpotato 2300 isn't all that much comparede to path of exile players, also they could just open a window, same effect.
Never herd of this game before, thanks Morty
I've played this last year and I am anxiously waiting for the multiplayer update to jump right back in. I really love a lot of stuff in it and for me this could be the next Path of Exile, if they do multiplayer, economy and long-term end-game right.
do we have an eta on when multiplayer is released ?
@@DevilDandruff Not that I am aware of. Currently it's in the phase of closed community testing, you can apply for it, I thought they were planning on releasing it like 3 months ago, but as always it's "as soon as it's ready" :)
@@PainfulDeath They were planning to release it a YEAR ago, and it's been nothing but empty promises and "It's almost ready guys" since.
They claimed it was 90% complete 8 months ago. In my book, they are shady as all hell, and when reading Steam discussions it's clear that there is a pattern of false promises and lackluster updates.
Dude: your writing had me rolling in the aisle. Too good man, too good 🙂
I really wanna try it but the price is beyond steep for an early access game
this is amazing -- liked and subbed. Only 4min in and I can't stop laughing. Last Epouch hahaha. -- also you sound just like Funke!
Seer doesn't get enough attention. This is some quality content.
oh god your puns
amazing video
also always looking for arpgs
last epoch(however it's pronounced) IS really fun!
1:15 favorite joke of the video
I've seen a lot of 'try last epoc' but this has been the most convincing.
That early access lable is really hard to ignore tho.
Seer have you played Weird RPG on steam it's not malware and beatable in 3 hours.
Gotta agree with others in here Seer. Glad I stumbled across this channel, this video series is great. These videos are both informative of the gameplay and entertaining to watch. Good work good Seer! I see what I did there, your writing style is contagious, entertainment is advantageous, youtube algorithm outrageous, alright okay I may just break us with the 1st grade rhyme style, but they Seerly cannot contain us... anus.
Hmmm, now you being the best youtuber i have ever seen is stuck in my head. Thanks a lot. 5:39
i've been sitting here watching the whole series in one sitting im honestly very convinced seer is the best youtuber of all time
4:48 someone tell this to mmo devs
Bewaremybear nailed it! :D
I love your content dude, reminds me of FUNKe's stuff, this is amazing
Been binging your videos. Your scripts are so good
Gotta say, cause of this video I caved and picked it up.
Gratz on the sponsor!
Thank you! I'm honored such a big time company reached out!
New subscriber here. Awesome and fun series you have here. Don’t forget to include Sacred 2. Can’t wait to see where this seeeries goes.
You made me chuckle aloud. Keep em coming.
Low-key here for the seer swears, they just hit different
Can't believe you got that video sponsor. Nice catch. Now it's time to reel in Jack Shitenothing, Inc.
I backed it in early access, and replay it every now and again. Need more armor and weapon assets imo
They will never do that because they want to sell you the cosmetics
@@AFpaleoCon maybe that's what it is! Makes sense now.
This guy reminds me of Angry Video Game Nerd in humor and how he does his reviews. Subs up Nerds!
From your review it seems like it actually took the good things from Diablo 3 that it has vastly superior to other games.
I might give it a try, seems really neat.
Yeah, I'd say Last Epoch is a better version of Diablo 3 if I had to describe it in one sentence. Absolutely shits all over Wolcen.
When I started playing LE 2 years ago I was thinking the same "Omg, this is Diablo 3 with some adventage" but after few hours I just changed my mind to "Omg this is Diablo 2 with some adventage from D3 and PoE". For people like me that liked Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, Diablo 2 and PoE - this game is the best ARPG.
i remember playing this game whne it was a demo back at Quakecon many years back. itwas awesome
My legit only gripe is I can't recommend it to anybody unless it's on sale until multiplayer is done. Multiplayer is make or break for a lot of my peers that love these kind of games, and the amount of time they're taking to develop it, while good because it shows they care about getting it right, is getting painful.
As someone who works in the lowes garden section. I can confirm our lack of trees
Hey man, just wanted to say that I really enjoy your video format! Great video, I may actually pick this one up when it releases
this vid made me sub. I'm digging the review style.
i literally cannot get over ur scripts, i love them so fucking much
Subscribbed! I love your style :D
You actually have 7,5 to 8 skill trees since you can invest in other subclasses' trees up to halfway
Also, potions just drop randomly, you can only hold as much as your belt allows you but walking on one without being full life and having your belt full will just consume it instantly
Glad I found you, funny, smart and tolerant.May the gods shine upon you good sir.
i played the d4 beta and i found myself thinking about how awesome titan quest was and how i've never really found something that came close to it since. then i found this video and decided to try last epoch. i'm enjoying it so far. have a subscribe and a like, buddy.
Better than diablo 4 beta ? Willing to buy one of those but i dont know wich one
Look no further than Grim Dawn. It was made by the same developers.
Bro love ur channel,subscribed
also on another note while PoE does a lot of things right one thing it really falls short on imo is that almost every build consists of 1 attack + 1 defensive button + 1 movement button.
sometimes defensive button is automated and not clicked. sometimes movement is your attack. sometimes you have 2 attacks for single target. my point is that generally optimized builds in poe uses very little variety. its just one skill you designed around and thats that. it makes it kinda lack diversity. a lot of poes problems come from its clear speed. you go so fast that anything that involves more meaningful gameplay and consideration is instantly unworth it. this is also the strength of poe, you go fast, you kill entire screens, big booms. however it gets old too. by slowing a game down a lot you can add more meaning to encounters and more things to do as part of the gameplay, instead of one button that clears entire screens.
First time watching your videos... was laughing hysterically. Love it, easy sub
Great video... top notch quality!
I've been wanting you to try this game. thankyou
Was almost sold on it then found out there's no multiplayer and that the feature has been "coming soon" for like a year lol
That's a bit scary, but I'll keep an eye out for a full release, hopefully D4 doesn't steal its thunder by then.
>buying a Blizzard game in 2022
And people wonder why things suck now. 😔
@@shemsuhor8763 You're delusional if you don't think D4 is a juggernaut that's going to take over this entire genre the moment it comes out.
Multiplayer is coming in March 2023 :)
Eber is the german word for boar. Anyway, thanks for the review, i was thinking about giving this game a try and now I am pretty much convinced!
I got bored after one playthrough but it definitely has a lot of good going for it. The skill system is top knotch, I just got overwhelmed by the loot system and endgame didn't grab me.. If you are looking for more ARPGS the best in class are baulders gate dark alliance 1, 2 and then the obvious progression is Champions of Norrath 1, 2.
im so glad u like this game :) its awesome and the music dude the music !
When explaining at 2:52 what was the picture of the board on the right from?
You just earned another subscription!
If you keep it up, you'll be working on a million subs in a few years. Probably 100,000 later this year.
I always find it amazing how you can give out so much information laced with so many swear words.
Yes, I come back for the swear words. And the information, but mostly the swear words and the gooey clayfighter.
I love this review so much. The humor kills me every time xD
I think the "Endgame" timestamp is missing after crafting
Love this content, ty!!
The problem is the weird gearing system. Not just good drops which is usual the appeal but instead weird upgrade/crafting resources
Great video! Last Epoch is so fun but I'll wait for multiplayer thanks for listening to my Ted talk byeee
It neeeeeds the multiplayer, I agree
Managed to withstand the call of LAst Epoch so far, with the justification of waiting for full product and lack of time, but damn if this one didn't put the dent in my will to wait 😀Excellent job
What's that hyperspace tunnel you use at 0:46? Is it available for public use?
It's from the game itself! Just edited a mask around the center and compiled it together. So, I imagine you can feel free to replicate that kind of thing if you'd like to.
Nice video - Outside of your "best" statement, which I don't think your narrative earned - Although your narrative was entertaining, which is why I stayed through the end credits. Last Epoch has been on my radar since prior to it's EA release. I've followed it since then, but have not yet pulled the trigger.
As I do with any game, I looked up the update history... and wasn't impressed. The last update was in March, followed by over a month later by two small patches (a patch and a hotfix for the patch). The game became available in 2019 and, according to you, the core gameplay, which is something that should be mostly ironed out *before* keeping or ditching a project, isn't "there yet". Also, you shouldn't buy plants from hardware stores.

Last Epoch is great. it has my favorite skill trees in any games.
This is a really fun game, and the work they are doing with it are promising. Don't be too harsh on the look yet, they are improving, but focusing on adding for the most part.
