  • Whether you’re purchasing an Onyx RCR or already have one, this video offers some advice and gives you an idea about owning and operating an Onyx Motorbikes RCR e-bike.
    -------------------------------------------
    DO I NEED A LICENSE?
In most states, the RCR does not require an additional motorcycle license. The bikes are limited to 750 watts, or equivalency of 125cc and 50cc, respectively, disqualifying them from being classified as motorcycles. We advise all riders to comply with state requirements and safety regulations.
    HOW FAST ARE THE BIKES?
The RCR can reach a maximum speed of 60 mph. Riders can engage “economy mode” to limit the bike’s speed to 20 mph to achieve the maximum operating distance of 75 miles.
    HOW DO I CHARGE IT?
The ONYX charger plugs into any standard wall outlet. You can directly charge your bike, or remove the bike’s batteries to charge separately. The RCR requires four hours, or less, to reach a full charge. Each battery lasts an estimated 800 to 1000 charges before it needs to be replaced, equating to 60,000 to 75,000 miles for the RCR.
    HOW FAR CAN I GO?
The RCR can travel up to 75 miles on a single charge - if it is operated in Economy Mode while cruising at 20 mph on a bicycle path, with some pedaling.
    WHAT DOES THE WARRANTY COVER?
Our warranty covers all manufacturing defects. We do not replace parts that undergo normal wear, such as tires, or cover damage due to misuse. We are happy to provide technical support for issues that occur outside of your warranty period.

Thank you for sharing valuable information about the onyx
Usually in every state one of the rules is if any ebike has pedals it's considered a bicycle no registration no license or no insurance at least that's how it is here in California

As a quick follow up to this, I placed my order about a week ago and opted for the 23amh battery, figuring that if I needed the extra range, I could upgrade the battery later. Seems like you are giving the new battery two big thumbs up for reasons beyond the range (i.e. balancing). Do you happen to know how amenable Onyx is in terms of upgrading the battery mid-order? Thanks in advance for your time!

Congratulations on ordering your Onyx RCR. All the videos I've posted under "playlists" of riding around and group rides were done with the Onyx 23ah battery, I love the 23ah but the 41ah is a pro-level battery which I still haven't drained. I'm sure Onyx Motorbikes would be glad to make changes to your order also considering how recent it is.

Excellent informative exclusive insider look at the evolutionary RCR onyx I would love to have done some messenger work in my city with this bike but that's too bad I couldn't because it'll be definitely a Target to get stolen considering I had several bikes stolen in in Manhattan. However I do recommend this lock on Amazon it's over $300 they claim it literally dulls the disc to a power grinder... I wonder if these come with a GPS I'm pretty sure they do also I'm hesitating to buy it because you have to literally wait four to three months that's way too long considering I am a bike fanatic I guess I might have to buy one on Amazon until I receive the legendary onyx

    • @JohnAngelnyc
      @JohnAngelnyc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

NMC. Expect 700-800 charging to 84 volts at 5 amps. for the 23ah. About the same for the 41ah. Realistically some might see 600 cycles. If done at the right temps, conditions, treatment and at a lower charge amperage and say to just 82 volts then they will see more cycles.

@@bobbyatlas8088 There's' a disability map that shows all the NYC stations with elevators. You're right, no one is taking a 140-pound bike up and down transit stairs. I've tried it and it sucks. I've taken the Onyx on the N train from 42nd to Coney Island to save battery before I got the larger battery. And a couple of times I've gone from WTC to Exchange place in Jersey City. But for the most part, no one is taking the Onyx on the train unless they live in North Bronx which some friends up there have done to come to Manhattan. I've checked with the metro North about taking it up to Beacon. The fact of the matter is always to look up the laws and at best consult with a lawyer.
