I got my bike today and I'm not a experienced rider. This video does phenomenal hand holding that I needed and I wanted to thank you. Not only learning the bike but for the advice on how to get acclimated with riding. The tips are priceless and a life saver.
Good demonstration👀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 other owners complain about those things👀 shutting off when writing👀 A lot of maintenance if Ri hard👀👀 there are over priced👀 you still haven’t sold me on it yet but good demonstration👀😜
Thank you for sharing valuable information about the onyx Usually in every state one of the rules is if any ebike has pedals it's considered a bicycle no registration no license or no insurance at least that's how it is here in California
As a quick follow up to this, I placed my order about a week ago and opted for the 23amh battery, figuring that if I needed the extra range, I could upgrade the battery later. Seems like you are giving the new battery two big thumbs up for reasons beyond the range (i.e. balancing). Do you happen to know how amenable Onyx is in terms of upgrading the battery mid-order? Thanks in advance for your time!
Congratulations on ordering your Onyx RCR. All the videos I've posted under "playlists" of riding around and group rides were done with the Onyx 23ah battery, I love the 23ah but the 41ah is a pro-level battery which I still haven't drained. I'm sure Onyx Motorbikes would be glad to make changes to your order also considering how recent it is.
@@JohnAngelnyc Hey John, I most certainly will. Thank you again for getting back to me. I can't wait till mine is shipped. It will be a pleasure to ride with the Onyx team in NYC. One quick question if I would need certain maintenance for the bike changing brake pads and other things like mods, is there a place in NYC to go? One last question after purchase of the bike do you know what the actual wait time is and where is the drop off. I currently live in the Bronx.
Excellent informative exclusive insider look at the evolutionary RCR onyx I would love to have done some messenger work in my city with this bike but that's too bad I couldn't because it'll be definitely a Target to get stolen considering I had several bikes stolen in in Manhattan. However I do recommend this lock on Amazon it's over $300 they claim it literally dulls the disc to a power grinder... I wonder if these come with a GPS I'm pretty sure they do also I'm hesitating to buy it because you have to literally wait four to three months that's way too long considering I am a bike fanatic I guess I might have to buy one on Amazon until I receive the legendary onyx
NMC. Expect 700-800 charging to 84 volts at 5 amps. for the 23ah. About the same for the 41ah. Realistically some might see 600 cycles. If done at the right temps, conditions, treatment and at a lower charge amperage and say to just 82 volts then they will see more cycles.
I'm 5'8" and I ordered the shorty. Now that I heard you mention if under 5'6" might want shorty. I have super 73 z1 and that height is great for me. I'm now thinking I need to contact Onyx and see if I can switch to standard height not shorty.
Congratulations on ordering your Onyx. I have method of knowing which size is right for you, it's at this blog post johnangel.nyc/posts/ordering-an-onyx-rcr/
As soon as my bike arrives (hopefully within this month) Eye wanna talk to you about options for keeping the engine cool for all these hills here in Yonkers. And what tires are you rocking in this video? Or do you have a recommended street tired?
Awesome vid sir!! Would you recommend this over a used car lets say about 3-5k for a first daily? And how is the water resistance rating on this? Working student here in MD. Thanks!!
That is great question. The RCR handles water and rain just fine. As for comparing it to a car, I'd say that if you could see yourself biking to work and study with something more than pedal assist, then it's a good match.
Hi, I’m about to buy a used one from market place. What do you need to register the bike and do you need a special license and how much would it be for insurance? Thanks
Great vid bro, I am looking to order one but idk if I should get the DRT kit or not. Iam looking to use it on roads but I might go off roading sometimes. What do you think is the best option🤔??
Onyx RCR riders in Massachusetts register it as a moped. They also insure it through Geico. I have insurance through Geico here in NYC for $160 a year. Massachusetts doesn't give you a plate, instead it's a yellow sticker you can place on the rear swing arm.
I haven’t heard it being a problem. I’ve been pulled over 6 times so far and they just wanted to talk about the bike. We’ve got a couple of officers that have their own and ride with us. Either way I recommend to check your state and municipalities laws.
I more than do considering a Weeped SS electric scooter is $6,600 before shipping and taxes. I love electric scooters and lots of friends ride them. And yes, the Onyx RCR is worth it at $4,896.11 (price includes taxes and shipping) with the 23ah battery and 5 amps charger, which is what I used all year to run the group rides here in NYC.
John, thats not true. You can not get around on NYC transit with this bike. Its 175 lbs you can not just lift this bike and walk up stairs with it. Its heavy AF.
145 pounds, gone through WTC, talked to the officers in the center of the Oculus and gotten off at Exchange place using the elevators at WTC and Exchange place.
@@JohnAngelnyc The Path train isn't technically NYC transit. Yeah you can travel on the path with it but try riding the A train to 59th st. and getting to the street level with it by yourself. Not happening bro. lol
@@bobbyatlas8088 There's' a disability map that shows all the NYC stations with elevators. You're right, no one is taking a 140-pound bike up and down transit stairs. I've tried it and it sucks. I've taken the Onyx on the N train from 42nd to Coney Island to save battery before I got the larger battery. And a couple of times I've gone from WTC to Exchange place in Jersey City. But for the most part, no one is taking the Onyx on the train unless they live in North Bronx which some friends up there have done to come to Manhattan. I've checked with the metro North about taking it up to Beacon. The fact of the matter is always to look up the laws and at best consult with a lawyer.
am considering buying the ONYX RCR shortly version I am 5'1 so would I have any issues riding the bike where if I had to stop a light or a stop sign and had to stand over the bike?
You explained everything with no BS. Thank you so much!! Thinking of getting this bike down in Florida
Awesome 💯

$509.32 per autograph 😉
How usable are the pedals? The bike is 150lbs so I'm curious how similar it feels to pedaling a standard bicycle

Hi, I’m about to buy a used one from market place. What do you need to register the bike and do you need a special license and how much would it be for insurance? Thanks
You want to check your state and locals laws. Most states and cities don’t require a license or insurance. I have Geico for $160 a year.
Great vid bro, I am looking to order one but idk if I should get the DRT kit or not. Iam looking to use it on roads but I might go off roading sometimes. What do you think is the best option🤔??
I would pass on the DRT kit. Get a Sur Ron for offroad.
If I order in January 2021, this is the version I will receive correct? I believe I seen in some news letter they had updated the frame.
Yers, as of the last four months and going forward, all the orders will be the 1.5
I didn't order my bike with the boots. I wish I did :( How difficult is it to add them yourself?

What’s the range on the new 41ah?
Don’t know yet, haven gone that far yet. It’s been hard to convince other Onyx customers with the 41ah battery to do a range test.
Which helmet do you recommend ?
TSG Pass or the AGV K6
Subbed
240000w? How?
Tracing the solder, swapping mosfets, and other little details.
