The cover of The Divine Art Of Torture is an homage to Coffin Joe. A Brazilian horror legend.

I've always been aware of Necrophagia however never investigated them until lately with the ease of Spotify making this possible which for me is great as I couldn't ever afford all the music I would like to buy now I can gorge myself silly with never ending tunes although it can be hard to pick something, anyway I gave Rat witch a listen and thought it was great and have decided to dig deeper with Harvest Ritual and then will give your recommendations a listen.
Cheers man I like your channel.

Hailz to Oz! Glad you found this band. It's one of the coolest old-school death metal bands out there for sure!

NECROPHAGIA is one of those bands who are hard to rank due to the diversity of their records! Sometimes the sheer barbaric (and timeless classic) "Season Of The Dead" might be the best, or the crushing brutality of "Harvest Ritual", or any of the others! Great stuff Jerry!

Yes. Bands with different styles (and Necrophagia is not even the worst in that sense) are harder to rank than the ones that don't change their style so much.

back in the 80's i used to correspond with Killjoy via postal mail (yeah Jerry - i'm pushing 50 like you, some of these "yunguns" might not know how normal that was back in those days!). I lived in Florida, he was in Ohio or Indiana at that time i think. Killjoy was a really nice, humble dude above and beyond the musical innovation and raw "haunted cemetery / dust-covered crypt" feel of Necrophagia's early work.
I very much appreciate your analysis of Necrophagia's catalogue , though It probably won't surprise you that "Season Of The Dead" was (and Is) my favorite of all Necrophagia's creative work. that black, creepy slab of foul, time-eaten plague-infested shit literally sounds like the soundtrack of some poor terrified bastard running through the woods trying to escape menacing hordes of flesh-eating zombies all around him, slowly closing in on his inevitable demise, live dismemberment and grotesque devourment.
Incidentally, i am (was) "necron313" on metal-archives, the guy who wrote the first review for "Season Of The Dead" on there way back when.
Great choice for a band review, dude.....Bravo!!!! ::::salutes::::

Did you ever see the through the eyes of the dead movie? That is really cool but I'm sure you probably have. I too like the vocals a lot. Killjoy was very talented. I'll say that Holocausto is my favorite. It's probably my favorite DM album. It's nasty and I love it. Divine art of torture is my second favorite. I really like that song flowers of flesh and blood.

Unfortunately I have not seen it. I don't watch horror movies often.

@@RautaMetal it's a bunch of music videos of songs on Holocausto de la morte. Still worth checking out even if you don't watch horror movies.
