Thanks for representing the beloved country of Liberia. If the continent is not treated fairly, she must withdraw from the UN and cut off trades with those doing everything possible to suppress the continent.
The questions asked by the journalists seem to be of concern to me as an African who have seen the abuse done to Africa by Europeans, countries and the West. Africa is the second largest continent on earth. How in the world does Africa not have any representation in the UN? In my opinion, if Africa is denied, she must cut off all trades with the countries that have plotted to suppress the continent of her rightful place on the global stage.
Almost a year ago there was the following "I was about to cry…," - African Union Chairperson Assoumani on G20 inclusion. Here is the member states and Institutions of the G20 'Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States) and two regional bodies: the European Union and the African Union.' A quick look at the members what can flow through the mind? You can perceive at least four things. You can the UN, they all belong to the United Nations Each year they all gather in the General Assembly Three out of five of the permanent members with veto rights of the UN Security Council are in G20, the U.S. the UK and France. You can see the Commonwealth You can see the Francophonie Most of the African countries belong to the Commonwealth or Francophonie or both The existence of all these organizations isn't already enough to allow a synergy. In the framework of the Commonwealth and Francophonie do they share the concerns of each other? When they gather in G20 do they talk about their issues? With all these that already exist, the call African leaders should be making should be about to use the synergy of all these to address the problems in Africa. Because the concerns the leaders should be the carriers isn't theirs, but those of the peoples. Peace, freedom, well-being, human fulfilment are the concerns of the peoples. Not 'Africa’s representation' The main reason why the leaders are so concerned about 'Africa’s representation', may be unconscious Maslow's hierarchy of needs The leaders have themselves achieved certain needs, Africa’s representation represents for them the need they haven't yet achieved, becomes a concern for them. But this is not the need of the people.
The African permanent seats should not go to countries which accept same sex marriages, Orania, and countries patently xenophobic to other African countries. The chosen countries must truly represent Africa, which means constant consultation with other African countries. The continent must have its own mechanism for supporting the chosen counyries and impeaching them if they do not truly represent the continent. The question of francophone, anglophone, arabophone or lusophone should be irrelevant. How our representatives vote on issues should be monitored and challenged if necessary. The delegations to the UNSC should comprise people from several African countries.
Great speech! She is 100% right! 👍 We need more politicians and diplomats like her!
