    Hope you see this. The issue with your battery pack is that the individual cells inside the battery bank have been drained down and are now out of balance. To correct this you’ll need to remove the cells and their connection to the next cells and charge each individually back to the stated voltage. Then wire them back together it will then be able to charge fully.

    Think about digging a thin ditch with a ditch witch, lay a French drain wrapped in fabric, drain to far end side also let it drain from the inside too..not perfect but it will work-I’m an architect.

      @@RaisingVoyagersI would recommend SEALING the 'Ends' of the Lumber if possible as well.
      It's a small area and very little time needed but will contribute to longterm protection.
      About 'moisture' problem behind the house , is it not possible to merely dig a TRENCH about 500 mm deep or more then filling it up again with rocks but by that creating a DRAINAGE CHANNEL towards the downhill side of terraces ?
      Warm greetings from a retired South African Boer.

    I am so happy to hear everyone is ok. I was t-boned 25 yrs ago & suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury several herniated discs & a cut spinal cord. The teenager was speeding through a red light & totaled my Volvo & my car was on fire while I was unconscious. Another car stopped & the nice man got me out of the car. I suffer from chronic pain & short term memory issues. Our Health is everything!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s

    I’m really amazed at the camera work in your videos. Either you must have a plethora of cameras, or you are stopping frequently to reposition them. We see you entering the house from the outside and then from the inside seamlessly, and in my head I’m going he had to set up the cameras before doing that just to get that one shot. I’ve also wondered about your drone footage as I’ve noticed that some shots have all of you in them, with no one seemingly maneuvering the drone. Are you programming it to film certain spots? There was a shot in one video where it was following your car, but you were also filming from inside the car, and you were driving. How do you do all this? And then there’s all the editing afterwards. All this is quite phenomenal and that’s without the massive reno work you are doing. That is some serious talent.

    If they are AGM batteries they cannot go down below 50% charge. You need to attach a trickle charger next time. As long as you have comprehensive insurance , and pushed from behind, she is not in the wrong. Install front and rear cameras. These footages can be given to your insurance company. They deal with the other vehicle owners.

    Glad your family is ok. I am sure you have considered it, but as an engineer, I don't know why you can't leave the existing wall behind the house and the excavate a narrow trench to allow for installing a French drain? Seems like the best option and would not generate nearly 500 m3 of soil. So, why can't you do that? Doesn't expand the m3 or connect your house areas to each other, but should stop the water from coming inside.

    Look at how they run cables underground with a cable bore to possibly dig out a drain, though if it's solid stone it won't work.
    If there's soil, it can dig through it from the side and only make a hole as large as the tube it needs.
    Then put in a porous tube or pipe, and it should help drain the groundwater out.
    They are used a lot in commercial sites for quickly running underground cables, they can even be steered underground.

    As far as the locals attitude to the stairs, well, it is more than just seeing that every day. Old and historic in Europe is far different than an American raised person has. I lived in a Bavarian city for 2 years in the 1970's. Had a friend who lived in an apartment downtown Regensburg, that dated to pre-1600's. Locals considered it a sort of cheap accommodation and a pseudo-slum, even though there was no trash (I mean, Germany, ya know?), or crime. It was just old, small, with short doors. And CHEAP! We'd call it historic based on age. They called it old.

    I think it is important for you and your family to have a private life aside from TH-cam. I think it's great that you guys put family first and foremost... as it should be.
    I am glad the family is ok after the accident. I have been in a "sandwich" type accident in a tunnel and it was very scary. My husband got hurt pretty bad. Me and my son were ok but very sore. It took a few years to stop monitoring the rear view mirror, as if that could help. I felt helpless in that situation. Again, I am glad your family is uninjured. Thank God!
    Your house is so beautiful. I know you will do your best to figure it out. I respect your decision on the stairs... they are crazy beautiful and unique! You guys are doing such a good job! Keep up the good work! Take care!😀

    Over the holidays I was in Florence Italy traveling with a friend. We were on our way to the airport on Saturday morning and were bumped by a car traveling too close. Fortunately, no injuries or damage. My friend stopped just before the light turned red. We were lucky but I have to say that driving in a foreign county is stressful if not scary!
    So happy all were okay.

    have just caught up with your Italian dream loved most of it, not being much of a traveller myself i do enjoy it when you go to old cities & towns, the architecture is amazing, just like your stone walls & i can see why you want to preserve them, am an old house enthusiast myself, preferring old over new; it's great that you're involving your girls in the restoring & building as they will appreciate it more as they get older.
    i loved seeing the wolves & mum with the pups, it looked like she was trying to find some form of shelter that wouldn't get disturbed by people, do you know if they're protected over there like in Alaska? perhaps you could find a nice secluded spot on one of your terraces to build a small shelter for her in the future, set your cameras up so you can watch them; they are obviously used to people, maybe ask around the neighbours about them?
    won't be long before the goats come back & have noticed you haven't finished the fencing around the new vegie bed, weld mesh would probably work better than just plain wire, they are mountain goats so can pretty much climb anything; also Heather try planting flowers out in the vegie patch along with the vegies,
    i'm in Australia but i do like watching Huw Richards www.youtube.com/@HuwRichards , he's based in Wales but has some brilliant gardening ideas that suit the very beginner;
    looking forward to more renovating

    Heather, take your time, come back to us when you're ready. Hope everything goes smoothly with the insurance. So, random thought, could you use steel sheet piles driven in? You might even be able to get them in between the house and the wall, you'll have no soil to remove, no concrete to pour at should be fairly water tight. Also yes, freezing temperatures will kill lithium batteries, it's best to keep them warm.

    For the humidity in the wall, one way not 100% to solve, but at least to improve quite a lot is not let the moisture go to the dirt behind the wall, mostly removing any source of water that will go there or letting run somewhere else. This could actually solve the problem, but depends on your location.
    Mostly, just put some canal that will move away from the area the water from the roof and add a couple of French drain on the terrace on the side of the house to remove water that will go in this dirt. Add some small well to remove humidity in the closer proximity of the wall. All this should alleviate the issue, living the +part: All this work could be done together with a geothermal heat pump installation in the same area (that will drive your heat pump electricity consumption to a reduction of roughly 40%-50%, especially good if you are going renewable) and this part of your house will have the same advantages of the geothermal installation (cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter). Having an heat pump running will also help with the humidity level.

    The best moisture barrier is glass. How about creating a glass wall a few inches from the stone wall, on the entire plane, provide for active and passive ventilation? These are ordinary window panes that perfectly retain moisture and retain heat. The stone wall was also illuminated with lanterns to preserve authenticity, and ultraviolet lighting for prevention. A glass wall would look amazing, modern, without destroying historical authenticity

    • @oggiedoggies
      @oggiedoggies 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That sounds like a brilliant idea, but how do you keep the condensation off of inside of glass to show off the stone walls? Heated somehow?

    • @yuriyant2821
      @yuriyant2821 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@oggiedoggies The idea is to use a double-glazed window. It, in turn, is a reliable temperature insulator. In the conditions of air circulation between the stone wall and the glass, there will be no condensation. During the rainy season, forced ventilation should cope with drying. To reduce the cost of the project, you can use standard sizes of double-glazed windows, only the extreme ones can be made to order.

      An additional benefit is that the illuminated stone wall will be a source of lighting in the room. If desired, the glass wall can be decorated as a large window using tulle, curtains, blinds. There are also great opportunities for using various lighting scenarios.

      Would it be floor to ceiling/wall to wall? If so would it need to be shatterproof? Probably still cheaper than their previous plans of building addition.

      @@oggiedoggies Yes, actually along the entire plane of the wall. This method of solving the problem is reliable, quick to perform and not too expensive as it seems. It is not clear why ordinary windows should be unbreakable. Usually, people live successfully in houses with ordinary windows. But, if you are afraid of everything, and for these wishes there is a solution - a protective film

    i wanted to let you know what we did with our earth home , walls to allow water to stay off, we dug a ditch down 9 ft Along the wall down and. just under the floor and then placed perorated tile allow quick run off, then we place the new foam water proofing on the walls , then adding the material like plastic against the wall, then we fill the ditch with pea gravel this allows the water runoff fast , then on the inside we sealed the stone , i don't know if this will help you, but husband being a brick layer seen many water proofing jobs I think you can find the waterproofing system up against concrete on youtube.

    We ended up putting a French Drain System outside our house and then we dropped down into a large pipe a Sump Pump. When the water gets to a certain level the pump automatically activates and pumps out the water. Also, after we exposed the wall digging down against the house, we painted on a product called Damn Tight which also helped with any penetration of water into the home. And yes, we had to dig it out by hand.
