    I made this pattern as my very first crochet garment and it turned out nicely. I love the stitch pattern. I made an XL according to the written pattern, with just 2 alterations: 1) I used 80 chaines for the main panels and 2) after assembly I needed to crochet 6 more rows on the sleeves as I wanted them full lengths. The cardigang fits nicely. I needed 12 balls of yarn (96% cotton, 4 % polyester / 50 g running 160 m) and a 5 mm hook.
    Thank you for this amazing design and the pattern. The explanations were very clear. The most difficult part for me was to keep the cats from going after the yarn xD.

    EXCELLENT tutorial!! Easy breezy 1-2-3! Moving forward THIS is my go to pattern for cardigans. I’m making a duster by extending the chain length of the panels. Oh, and I’ll probably extend the sleeves as well depending on the final length.

    I love the tutorial, really excited to dive into this project. I had a question about one part of the construction: at around 9:00 you cut the yarn after the second set of 72 chains on the side but then at the end of that chain we start double crocheting into the 72 chains, sleeve, and other set of 72 chains. Is there any reason you wouldn't just turn after the second set of double crochets?

      Just do as many chains it takes to go around your wrist allowing if you want loose cuff or a fitting cuff, dont forget it will need it big enough to go around the top of the arm for the armhole if its to tight you can increase stitch count from about elbow every few rows to allow for top arm fitting, be sure to jot down row numbers that you increased on so you can match the other sleeve the same, crochet the pattern til it reaches the top of arm then chain as many stitches you want from the shoulder to hem front then back continue pattern to centre of the neck,, now make the other side the same and sew the 2 backs together and sc a boarder around the whole garment,,, wallah its finished ,,, hopefully you can follow my instructions God bless 🧡🕊️

    • @ChaniBethyPooPoo
      @ChaniBethyPooPoo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Ooh! I'm not familiar with the Suzette stitch. I will have to look that one up! I might be making this sweater for my mom. I myself have also been crocheting for a number of years, and I would like to try and answer your one question, if you don't mind. 🤗💕🐛
      Joining or seeming sometimes is a matter of preference, so really, any method that creates a strong hold will essentially work for a project like this. I find a mattress stitch is good for creating flat and invisible seams, and doesn't add bulk.
      If you're making this project in a solid color, then something like a whip stitch would also work here. It's a little easier to do, still works great for joining panels, and blends right in using all one color and material. I would avoid it, however, if you're making each side of the sweater a different color, for example, as it's not an invisible joining method.
      You could probably also just slip stitch the panels together, and hide the seam on the inside. Although, this will create a ridge on the inside of your work. There's also a possibility you might notice the seam slightly on the outside. But again, if the sweater is all one color and material, and you join the two panels in the line with the two row repeat, it will be mostly invisible. It probably wouldn't be an issue with a lightweight yarn like the project calls for. The one upside is that it's the quickest of the three that I have mentioned, so I might go for this if you were short one time, like if you are making this as a gift for someone.
      Obviously, there's a number of ways of joining, and tutorials. I have found which one you use really just depends on the project that you're making, and what your own personal preference is. I'm really curious to the suzzette stitch. It sounds lovely! 😆❤️

    • @Aeremaee
      @Aeremaee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ChaniBethyPooPoo Thank you so much for the advice and the explanations of the different methods! I'm still new so that will be very useful to me in years to come ❤
      Suzette stitch is the one used in the even rows (the "(sc, dc) in first dc, *skip next dc, (sc, dc) in next dc" repeat). It might also have a different name, but that's what it was called in the baby blanket pattern I first learned it for. I find it a very pleasing stitch to make and to look at, I hope you will too!

    Could this be done all in one piece starting at the end of a sleeve and doing a short row at the neck?

    OMG, this project came out huge!!!! Followed instructions given, ie stitch counts, etc. trying to modify a size 3X to a small. Yikes.

    Do you have the measurements of how long the sleeves etc should be in case we want to do it with a thicker yarn?

    Beautiful cardigan. How many chains do you need for size 2x?

    Diese Muster gefällt mir sehr. Ich werde mein Pullover aus baumwolle so häkeln. Für cardigan ist diese Muster für mich zu locker.

    Will this stay whole in the washing machine or do you need to do some additional steps to keep it from stretching?

    Making this now as my first attempt at a cardigan. I looked at the pattern but can you tell me the length of the sleeves? I have long arms and looking at it I might have made the sleeves too short. 😅

    I’m making this cardigan right now but I have a question.
    Is there a specific reason why it is made in two parts, other than to stop the back neck from stretching?
    Would it spoil it if I made it in one piece and maybe used crab stitch across the front edge?

    Would using a heavier yarn. Like a 5 Weight totally ruin this?
