Been looking for this one for a while. I know the tunes, I know the moves, but I still watched it from start to finish - the magic of KT. Nice to see the Japanese spectators applauding at the end. Americans would have been whooping and hollering, but the Japanese have their own ways. Near the end of the same year, 2018, watch out for the whole band (including the first years in "civvies" shown here) give an outstanding performance at the Tokyo Instrument Fair. These are high school students, we should respect their privacy, but still enjoy their performances.
THIS is the most important event of all the year seeing the new generation arriving and old ones are going to colleges later everybody with the great memory in their precious golden years

Well, I am very impressed. I am no expert on marching/parade bands. I would have to say that this group must certainly be one of the best in the world.
CLUB music program. This is an after-school club, run by the students themselves. They pick out the music, design the choreography, and the older students (Senpai) teach the younger students (Kohai.) ..Joe
All of a sudden when I refresh TH-cam, I get a lot of newer versions of 2018 (my favorite year) that I have never seen. I am thrilled watching my favorite class from Tachibana but also my favorite student who plays saxophone. She is the cutest girl.
As an American, I was a bit confused when I first saw a video of the Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band parade in April at Blumen Hügel, since it started with the band members in their uniforms, and a group of youth in what appeared to be school uniforms, gathered in the parking lot, before the parade. I wondered if the ones in the school uniforms might be a choir, and that there would be a concert with singing? During the parade, they were following along behind the band, clapping their hands - but there was no singing concert. With some additional searching on web sites, I found that they were the 1st term band members, who weren't yet familiar with the music and choreography for the parade. That was what confused me, due to the April time frame. Then I found that Japanese schools operate on a Tri-mester system, and that their academic year begins in April. One web site explains that the first semester runs from April until around July 20 - then for most students, summer vacation lasts from July 20 through August 31 (the KT SHS Band practices during this break). The second semester begins in early September and continues until about December 20, when the students go on winter vacation. The third and final semester of the school year begins in early January and ends in mid-March. In most American schools, the academic year starts in late August or early September, and ends in May or June.
Can you do a “behind the scenes” video in regards to the preparation and training involved in regards to this band? I know that it must take a vast team to make this kind of band happen. Thanks. Very entertaining to watch.
Aside from the TV shows listed above, you don't. They're just high school kids, and their parents are very protective of their youth and privacy. Even those shows have stopped. The kids are well aware of their fame, but pay it no heed. To them, this is a nifty after school club, nothing more, and they enjoy it and work REALLY hard, but they have no desire for self-promotion or fame like US kids seek. ..Joe

Our band needs a director like this. The band is amazing, which comes from an amazing work ethic, skill, and there director knowing what the hell he's talking about.
The teachers I teach are also great, but not only. The third grader is teaching one year and two years. What the teacher is doing is only musical ones, and choreography of dance and practice of parts are mainly part leader I'm doing it. They all think of choreography. Above all, the feelings of the students are important. They participate in the practice with their own will. I have a lot of practice, but I can do my best because I have a desire to accomplish with my friends. So the smile is wonderful. They enjoy the parade better than anyone else. Was hoping KTSHSB would participate again in the upcoming 2020 Tournament of Roses parade, but bummed to see they won't. I would have made the trek to Pasadena just to see them. Oh well....reason #235 for me to go visit Kyoto :-)

円陣の橘クライから始まるブルーメンのパレード、中でも駐車場から続く坂道は映像としてとても美しくて大好きです。素晴らしい演奏とダンスを披露しながら坂を上る姿は温かくまぶしい太陽が昇るのにも似て若い命の輝きを象徴するかのよう、名画のワンシーンのようです。

もうすでに出来上がってる感じの上級生について行くのは大変だけど、新入生のみなさんもキツい練習を乗り越えて戦力になってもらって、最強の橘のバンドを作り上げて感動を味わって欲しいです。

I have a lot of practice, but I can do my best because I have a desire to accomplish with my friends. So the smile is wonderful. They enjoy the parade better than anyone else. So the audience will be fun too.
