Just watching this Haiti series, I am mentally exhausted from them. I cant imagine what you, on the ground went through, and that still pales in comparison to living through it daily. Thanks again for this look into a situation we hear almost nothing about.

This is an interesting series. But so heartwrenching. I was a missionary in Haiti for over 4 years.
This is an amazing series, it is unfathomable to even consider what Sean has experienced living there. Nor sure how you ended up having him as your guide, I can't imagine anyone else being able to deliver anything comparable, or you back to your hotel unharmed everyday

I feel like Haiti has been the most captivating series, thus far, because you don't hear about it too much on international news outlets. Haiti's problems are for the most part ignored and swept under the rug, while the media cherry picks what they find profitable. If it wasn't for independent journalists like Nick, and a small handful of others, we wouldn't have the smallest idea of what's really happening in Haiti, and other countries across the globe. Well Nick has almost been arrested two times if it weren't for Sean. Not to mention the gang violence. So there's your answer why no one goes there.
Sean is a superhero. He carries himself in such a way that he has totally control of the situation and would be the first to lend a helping hand.
He is really good in what he is doing but I also guess he might be bribing people... Especially if the police is acting up that is usually what they want, money.

I feel like this Haiti series is going to be a very hard series to top after this. This series has been one of the most intriguing, eye opening series that I’ve seen. The people you meet who talk to you about their experiences are so captivating. Sean has been such a wonderful guide and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Sean seems like such an amazing guy. You can see the both the sadness and love he feels for Haiti when he talks about his country. It's sad to see how bad things have become in Haiti. Sean has really touched me. I hope things in Haiti can somehow improve for him and the people of that country.

As a foreign-born Haitian, I’m emotional watching this because my early memories of Haiti before 2010 is not the same Haiti we see now. I appreciate that you are giving a raw, unedited image of what’s happening in Haiti.
Haiti has always been filled with problems and issues. Maybe not to this degree but it wasn’t starkly different pre earthquake. There were still issues with kidnappings for instance (I grew up in Miami and went to school with a girl who fled Haiti because gangs were kidnapping people rampantly) in 2006.
I am a missionary here in Haiti and married to a national, and I can tell you this series definitely depicts the goings-on. I am sharing these on Facebook so people know how Haitians are living daily. Thank you Nick and Sean for your bravery.

This Haiti series has been absolutely brilliant and enthralling. Depressing and shocking certainly, but also seeing people like Sean and the artist trying to do their best in such awful circumstances is really heartening.
Thank you for doing this series. I live in the central plateau of Haiti and we don’t get to see what’s happening in Port since we can’t travel there. We merely hear of it. I’m sharing this with many. My dad moved back to Haiti a couple weeks ago and everyone tried to tell him not to go but he wouldn’t listen. He just loves that country so much and would rather be there instead of the US which I will never understand Thankfully he lives 2 hours outside the capital so it’s not wild like this but it still dangerous. Everyday my siblings and my mother are worrying about him and it’s been especially tough on mom. My dad does lots of work for his community and wanted to be there to do even more work which I respect 100%. He’s always been a man that would give up his last dollar to help. He’s a wonderful man and I ask that you all keep him in your prayers. He has an organization down there doing work and if you like to donate let me know. I can reach out to him to get the info on how to donate. Even a few dollars helps. His organization was able to raise about $3k to send close to 60 children to school for the year. If you don’t feel comfortable giving to him it’s okay but find a way to help someone out there. It’s not Haiti only suffering. So many ppl throughout the world are suffering even in this country. If you are watching a video like this I would assume you have empathy so show empathy to all humans and try to help anyway you can. Nothing is too small for someone who has nothing. One love ❤

@@Pizza_Pizza703 well he waited until we were old and all have moved out. I’m 30 and my brothers and sister are in their mid 20s. I def feel sad for my mom as she is alone now but me and siblings are always checking up on her with a phone call and a visit. I don’t 100% agree with what my pops did but I respect. Ever since I was young he always said he would go back to Haiti to go help out there. Truly when he’s in Haiti he feels relaxed but with what’s going on in the country now i dont know if he will find that relaxation. I’m getting married next year so that’s most likely the next time I see him. I pray that he can make the change in his community that he is looking to make. I could never make a move like my pops did but that’s what makes him special. He is always willing to help even at his own detriment.

His allegiance should be USA not Haiti. Living in America being from Jamaica. This gives me a real taste of what life is like watching these, also take me back to it. This paradise like place we live in that we grind for everyday is easy vs what they do and we must not complain or be unappreciative.

First of all, I want to thank you for having had the courage to go out and record under those various stressful and depressing circumstances. I hope you'll get to rest a bit before your next destination because it will be needed for your mental health.
I'm Haitian. The last three years and a half have been like hell. A lot of your audience lives abroad and many of your viewers have been concerned for you and the people of Haiti, the situation has gotten to this point because of lack of governance and corruption for decades. I also want to add that the international community like the US hasn't been an ally. Those guns that starving gang members are holding are worth thousands. Those guns are released through ports and distributed. Clearly, the sorrow of Haiti is the fruit of many corrupted minds who have one mission really: exploit, destroy and keep Haiti at the mercy of international foreign aid.
I ask every single one of you to help however you can by donating to trusted organizations, sending good positive thoughts, buying goods from Haitian artists. I saw that many of you would like to support Sean which is great but please don't advertise it too much online for his own safety.
Finally, I wish you all the best Nick on your future travels. I'm so sorry that you didn't have the opportunity to explore some of our magnificent beaches and countryside towns. Until one day when things are better.

@@reginasmith6276 Hi Ms. Regina, it is intense still but a few months ago (April) some citizens took matters to their hands and killed many gang members. It resulted in a movement called "Bwa Kale" which has provided relief in CERTAIN areas not all. I am just asking people to ask people on the grounds rather than focusing on reports done by US media because it doesn't show everything just what they can gather from their own perspective. At the moment, it is intense in the downtown area, especially in one locality "Carrefour-Feuille" where many people have been murdered, and the ones had to escape and relocated in very dire situation. I, as an Haitian, donate and help out the best I can but it is just a dire situation. Thank you for asking how things were. Blessings your way!

@@Zei33 Hopefully you're not a woman! I've often noticed that most of these travel documentaries are by young(ish) men. I would be really interested to see a woman doing something like Palin's 'Around the World in 80 days'. Even though it was 40 years ago I think, even now, a woman simply wouldn't be able to cross by land and sea as he did. It would also be interesting to see who would reach out to her as a traveller, if any, and whether she'd be forced into female only company, particularly in some of the Eastern and Central countries.

I appreciate you showing what REALLY is going on in Haiti. A lot of north american outlets like Vox like to blame Dominican Republic for all the injustice Haitians have gone through without realizing Haiti has been plagued by corruption ever since Haiti got it's indenpendence.
The gangs and violent crimes are accentuating the issue. This lawlessness is exactly what makes it difficult for Dominicans or any foreign country whatsover to help them. And that's what left us with a very sour relationship.
I sympathize with the protesters/rioters but their methods won't work and will continue to worsen the situation. What Haiti needs is political stability and sadly foreigners can't help much there without overstepping their boundaries.
The driver/guide in this video is amazing.... kind, thoughtful, protective, and a peacemaker in difficult situations... and this is typical of most Hattians. I've known many over the years and they're generally quite lovely people.
Having lived in Nigeria as a foreigner for 9 years as a kid/teen, I've felt the anxiety that you mention. There is always a chance of bad things happening especially if you aren't a native.
Have you considered carrying photocopies of your passport first and last page? Might help with the cops vs carrying nothing.

As someone who has traveled to intense places, the advice I would give is to arrive in Haiti with many photocopies of your passport so that you can at least show the police something if you are stopped. The choices are not between your real passport or nothing. Photocopies are usually a good stop-gap.
Intense. This is much more than a travelogue. Thank you for your honesty and calm demeanor. In between the mayhem and chaos in the streets, I catch glimpses of people going about their ordinary daily business and kids going to (or coming from) school, or even people painting! If that's not testimony to human resilience, I don't know what is. Respect to the victims of maladministration and state and gang violence. Salute Sean! Salute Indigo Traveler!

They have lived like this ever since they slaughtered the French and turned "the Jewel of the Antilles" into this african hell over two hundred years ago. The U.S. military has built that place into a proper country twice, but as soon as they leave it just becomes this again. How do you not know this?

My French teacher is Haitian. I'm Hawaiian and I don't know how a Haitian got to Hawaii but someone asked him what Haiti is like now since he said he visited 2 years ago. He said he is very sad to see what Haiti has become. He said when he was a child they had more money and they could go anywhere they liked and they were free to roam. I searched it up and ended up falling into your channel. Thanks for posting these.
I'm reading thru the comments, and I'm not entirely sure if any of us that are watching this from the comfort of our homes, have pieced together that this is just a preview of what "they" want for the entire world. Why do you think this is not on your evening news? Unfortunately, Haiti is one of the many places for their test subjects. This will come to a theatre near you in some way shape or form. The movie might be a little different in your country, but the basic plot the same. We need to stop letting them divide us. We need to realize people across the world have more in common than you think. They don't want unity and peace. They want division and chaos. On another note, Nick I am so sorry people want to criticize your intro or have you in danger by recording audio. I'm sorry people have no imagination. I have so much gratitude for you doing this series. And let's all give Sean some praise for his work in all of this. The love for his country shines thru, and obviously this whole project would not be without him.
I can’t even imagine how emotionally exhausted you are. This is an excellent series and seeing your journalism grow over the years and different countries you’ve visited is truly exciting to watch. Make sure you give yourself some down time when you get home to rest and recuperate.

My family is from Haiti 🇭🇹 I was born in the US I'm so thankful for everything I have this could've been me I'm so thankful wow! The last time I went there I was 3 years old I'm 37 now I'm sooo thankful!!! When you think you have it bad remember someone will always have it worse then you.

This series has been incredible, thank you. Even having visited Haiti for 2 weeks in 2015, it’s so different and sad to see the state of the country 7 years later. Unfortunately it’s a stark example of how a country’s history has a profound impact on how everything transpires.

Visited Haiti twice, 2014 and 2016. The culture there is absolutely breathtaking, the people couldn’t be the nicest and aside from all the 18th century deforestation, the country is remarkably beautiful, but the condition of the country is truly heartbreaking. A lot of destruction from the 2010 earthquake when I visited and trash for miles in Port-au-Prince on city blocks, the videos speak for themselves. I want to go back again someday and continue to do volunteer work there. I never went into areas like this since we had such a large group, we stayed at a local hospital and church an hour outside of the city, and our local guides were the most badass guys on the planet. But I remember sleeping on the rooftops because they would need to turn off electricity at night so they could save money, so it was cooler to sleep on the roof. And you could hear gunshots ring throughout the night. Very scary but was so happy to go twice and would go back in a heartbeat just to give support from the 2021 quake, give aid for the people and eat their delicious homemade food ❤️🙏 fantastic video series man thank you so much for this, glad you are safe!

I think the saddest thing in this series is the look on the faces of the people in the streets - just beaten and defeated, especially the women. I pray that things will turn around quickly for Haiti and I also want to compliment Sean as so many others have. He's an amazing person and probably the only guide who could have gotten you out of jam after jam after jam after jam like he did. Whatever you paid him, it wasn't nearly enough as you owe your life to this gentleman..

As someone who goes to Haiti regularly, I can attest to the fact it’s is crazy there right now. Truly you will see some of the most beautiful people and spirits there but unfortunately some of the darkest as well. I love Haiti, thank you for risking your life to highlight the Tragic situation in Haiti. I pray the UN steps in soon!
