Great video as always. I had really thought that I hadn't heard much about the tires in a long time. To the point that I had even forgotten about the change to the tires. I feel like the good teams adjusted & most of us moved on & forgot about it. That said, it's really hard to ignore what scruffy said. I saw his post, & coming from him I feel like it can't be ignored. At the end of the day, I feel like having some competition in the tires would help in all ways. It forces the manufacturers to have the best costs. It might improve quality, and it creates the whole who's on what tires discussion. I remember as a kid going to Knoxville and that being a big part of the discussion... who's on Goodyear's, who's on Hoosier's, or who's running McCreary tires, but that's all gone now.

Yes I always ran McCreary they worked good for the hard slick NY tracks and your right hate they did away with the tire war as was never a Hoosier fan to me not many used them it was Goodyear or McCreary

As much as I miss the good ole tire wars, the reality is, they are just too dangerous. Someone inevitably will push the tire beyond its limits and cause havoc. Then you have the issue of can teams switch tires mid season, or even mid race? Because if not we could see the best cars struggle to make the feature just because of the rubber they run. If we do allow changes then what's the point anyway because everyone will end up in the same tire anyway, and you'll haveall but 1 manufacturer going home with a whole bunch of useless rubber.

Thank you for educating us on the matter, I wish track announcers would do this and educate us on track surfaces.

Thanks for this great view of what the actual drivers think of these tyres. The Brad Sweet latest crash was bad to watch and these drivers get into the cars night after night and put their life on theline. As much as I love my Sprintcar, drivers should not have this extra worry. Thanks for the news Toby, great video we can watch time after time and absorb……l.

Very scary with these blown tires! I feel like there is more than ever that I see this year. Yah and I agree less passing.

I would be more concirned about why they just "explode" for no reason, this was my observation at Knoxville, Brad and James tyres just let go for no reason at high speed.
I spoke to JV and he said his exploded but did come together with another car prior and believed that was the cause.
The tyres i saw explode were still like new on the tread.
The racing was fantastic and i did not see the tyres affect this at all.
Its the tyre exploding that is the problem and was not really addressed ?

i like what your saying, but is it just as likely that the redesign of the tire was forced due to the availability of certain products they need to make the tires. so side walls etc are "a in development" that is being not talked about outside closed doors. We will have to deal with them in a few months on tracks that typically don't build good cushions, Will be interesting to see

Great video. I bet everyone would love to see the factory where the tires are produced. I’ve heard they are quite secretive though. That should not be a practice applauded with such a high profile supplier.

In pa if you don't star up front you might ass well load up and go home . No passing and the stands are proof of that. Go back to goodyear.

Probably if you do the tire war again Hoosier will close down cause if I remember right Goodyear and McCreary were the big two how Hoosier got choose the only tire I have no clue and if you all Hurd what Double D said in victory lane at Williamsgrove this past Friday night which basically was these tires suck and that makes drivers take moves that could cause wrecks (ask Freddie Rahmer ,lol)

Hoosier is a monopoly with immense political leverage. By literal/legal definition they and the complicit sanctioning body’s can be described as a syndicate, mafia, or cartel. That’s a fact not an opinion. There’s also a valid argument for price fixing and other market manipulations. They own the market and they always will. The dirt community also bought into the branding and the notion that Hoosier was the best and allowed it to become the identity of our sport. Thousands would wear purple Hoosier merch and state that Hoosier was the best tire. Yet, when asked many have no reference of comparison. Many have never ran any tire other than a Hoosier tire. That’s like loosing your virginity and stating that was the BEST sex ever.

Driver confidence is something they need to consider. If the drivers aren’t confident then the fans don’t get the best possible racing.

Well you could complain about the new tyre and the adjustments everyone has to make. But if the old design is 25 years old they had a lot of experence with it. I'm sure it wasn't all great 25 years ago when that tyre came out.

Even the late model Right rear tires suck, I’ve never seen that many flats in a season, Hoosier needs to step it up in quality.

  • @mariebeasley1269

Has the racing been better ? No the tires seem to have point championships tighter. The teams with the money and resources seem to have a somewhat control of the new tires. Seems other teams are struggling at certain tracks and getting the tires to work for their liking.

Re inventing the wheel!! What was the track record? On any track ? Most haven’t changed with the new tires! Stick with what works. Old school tires rule!

If they ran the current tire for 25 years and then switch to the old tire, would they still be running into the same issues and complaints? Everything from chassis to track notes were based off of the old tires. Throw that $hit out and start over.

l/r Hoosier tyres are high growth and sometimes do not shrink back to original size. Leave them a day or two and they do. This is nothing new. Too frequently they are NOT even what the chalk marks are, again nothing new. I have seen teams mount them and inflate them and a 105 goes 108 or similar. At 6psi. Nothing new.
Tyres wearing out on slick tracks, again nothing new but the tyres exploding does seem to be new. Just watching videos tyres are coming to pieces that are not fully worn out. Seem to be doing the same on late models as well.
So it seems there is a quality and consistency issue

I hate that they can’t just run whatever tire brand they want. It’s in American to have a monopoly on this in racing. Competition makes a better product and choices are what everyone wants

THE OLD TIRES WERE NEVER CAMBERED......

    • @ChrisS-oo6fl
      @ChrisS-oo6fl ปีที่แล้ว

Yes the casing had an inner and outer delta (aka camber) Besides tread pattern this is also why the old tire was directional. This was done from direct testing input from the Royalty of the sport. The new tire was squared to be better balanced as well as providing multi/directional use. If you flipped the old tire it would taper towards the incorrect direction. Hoosier themselves disclosed this as a intentional design change. If you have an unused older version of the tire measure the inner and outer edge. The difference you will see is by definition called.....camber. You probably never noticed it and always measured your tire size at the center. With your standard setups you should have noticed a change between the old tire and new tire in measured heat pattens across the tread. The new shape is why.

Come on now that’s what I said Bobby and me know this. Bobby brought the Humpper back from Pennsylvania. Ask Reco about that new tire He lost that race on them junk tires. I’ve been in sprint car racing for 65 years this is the worst show’s ever mater of fact I wont even go to an out law show if I watch on my phone I see larson on the pole I turn it off. Sorry don’t like cherry pickers. Takes away the points from the driver’s who are fighting for point’s I see better show’s from the All stare’s
