Thank you for the tour. So now I know where we got off the turnpike a few weeks ago. We were heading to Disney World. Again, we live north of 466. We probably came down 301 and got on the turnpike, but very soon conditions deteriorated with a sign saying something about unexpected road maintenance. After being on the road for over an hour, Waze directed us off the turnpike, and then wanted us to take a cloverleaf and get right back on. That was not smart. So we just drove west and then I saw "Chandler Drive"! I was agast! I couldn't believe that we were STILL in The Villages! It ended up taking us over 2 hours to get to Magic Kingdom! Crazy! But now I know where we were, and how we got there. We exited at 470 and drove west. At the time we had no idea where we were.
I had a similar experience with my Groome driver who said they may have to got back roads other than the turnpike because of an accident. Then dispatch told him that the turnpike was cleared and got to Orlando in the usual amount of time.
Thank you Gary for the golf 🚙 cart tour. Do you know why some streets have curbs with drains and other streets have their lawn right up to the road with drains on the middle of the street often with puddling🫠 💦 water ?
I believe it depends on the neighborhood and style of homes. I believe designer home areas have curbing and cottage & villa have no curbing. Now this isn’t an absolute but it is based on how the Villages designed the area. I live where we don’t have curbs and the drainage is in the middle of the road which works really well so not sure about your puddling comment as the roads are slopped to move the water to some super large drains.
Thank you for the explanation. I made the observation after watching your tour around 19:25. I’m excited to visit The Villages in June to check it out.
You shoudl get a portable Garmin GPS (one with free map updates) and mount it in your golf-cart -- it's especially great for exploring neighborhoods (as I do) so you don't get into a dead-end you didn't expect. And because they're portable, you could move it to your car and use it there as well. I got my last Garmin (I have several) at Best Buy, but IIRC Walmart has them, also some online sources. Once you know the exact model you want, look at all the sources for the best price/shipping. And they're WAY cheaper than an OEM NAV System in your vehicle. BTW, you're video's volume is way too low through most of the video, then at the end gets very loud. -- BR
Thanks Bill for the recommendations, but I think the adventure is in riding around spontaneously. It is fun to find new areas. The video volume was low but it was intentional, as I used a voice isolation over the golf cart noise which was annoying if I left in. I may have gotten a little lack at the end as it was a very long video.
I know you shared the name of your Villages sales rep on one of your recent videos...do you mind sharing again, if you feel they did a good job?(which i believe you said they did). Thx! ❤

Thanks, Gary - We live in Texas but my husband has to travel to Leesburg a lot for work. We're considering a purchase in Dabney, but we aren't quite 55, so we'd have to rent it out for about 1.5 years. Do you think Dabney will be desirable for renters? I know some say "it's too far out"...But we'd include a golf cart. I know you've said "there are no bad villages". Would love your 2 cents! Thanks!
They say there are 2000 clubs in The Villages, can you provide some information on the various types of groups. What types of groups are there? How often do they meet? Where do they meet? How many members? etc.
We bought in Dabney and moved in 2 weeks ago. We love the area!!
Congratulations!
Thank you Gary Dabney is nice. Our home in NY closing June 14th and will be heading down to buy a designer home most likely a Moultrie Creek .
Best of luck!
Adding the pics of the actual map of where are on the trail was great, continue doing that, makes for easy follow along with golf cart app
I closed on my house in Dabney in January of 2024. Love my house and my neighbors.
Congratulations.
Thank you for the tour Gary!
My pleasure!!
Fantastic ride along with you Gary. The map graphics were great! Thanks for cart ride.
My pleasure!

Question.....What paper map were you using to show us where you were at and where can I get one?

If you want to live there before one of you is 55, check with a village agent as it maybe possible from what I read. Don’t tell anyone I told you.

Check out one of my older videos as I covered how to find clubs and what’s going on.
Comment......what makes no sense is some neighborhoods have curbs and others don't....the ones without look bad....
Morley Avenue, of course named for the effervescent Cozy Morley of Philadelphia, Pa. and Jersey Shore fame!
