Faulty spotting at IPF Worlds

- Some examples from IPF Worlds 2016 that should be something to learn from for future Championships. This spotting, or lack of, should not be tolerated. Many did a good job, but this is the host nation & meet director responsibility and fault.

These spotters need spotters.
The spotters have skinny legs.
Jajaj
bruh I have the same name, super confused at first lmao
So true, the spotters are so thin!
Hahaha 😂😂
"hey kid, you been to the gym before?
"Yeah, one or two times"

The kid actually answered like Homer: "GYM? What's a GYM?"
Kid: Pokémon Gyms?
That's what happens when u pay minimum wage lol
Why is a 14 year old boy spotting Olympic squatters
Cost cutting I think
Read intro.
What? Olympic squatters? Sth like this doesn't exist, unless u mean olympic weightlifters who do squat, but there was none of them. And btw, olympic weightlifters don't need a spot in squat.

hi kira

Hello Kira
In order to be a spotter at the IPF Worlds you must be under 18 and no more than 160lbs.
Tim TimerDimDime and not be able to curl more than 25lbs.
Yo dude i know that this comment is old,but you are kinda stupid, i'm 16 and a half and you can clearly see that i'm pretty big,i have like 46-47,5 ish cm arms something like that and ive seen manny people like you,who looked like sticks or fat all their life and thinking that you have to be 20+ to be big while on gear and this is straight bs,if you go to gym at like 14 to 20 and knowing what you doing you will look better than people that take steroids(well atleast for my genetics) and i'm not that impressive look at Larry Wheels at 18- th-cam.com/video/uRca6khflrw/w-d-xo.html
This makes me so mad to watch. Not only are the spotters obviously not strong enough to be spotting the weight, they don't care at all about doing their job either. I'd be pissed if my gym partner acted like this, let alone at a meet of this level.
Literally have CHILDREN spotting for PROFESSIONAL POWER LIFTERS. I’m quite a big guy but my no means the size of these guys, and not moving nearly the same weight. My spots in the gym are bigger, stronger and more competent.
i would have refused to perform my lift if i saw a 12 year old 80lbs kid as my spotter.
It seriously looks like they just got some kids off the street to spot these pros
well, that 50 kilo kid is not at fault here. who the FUCK hired HIM as a SPOTTER? man, just make him offer water to the athletes but dont put him there to potentially lift 3 times his weight at the end of a bar
Everyone is a volunteer at a powerlifting meet. High school boys are usually the most readily available supply of spotter/loaders. Usually anyone who's big enough for the job is lifting in the meet.
This very easily could have killed someone, whoever coordinated this event should never be allowed to do so again

What about odd people?
u telling me all they could find was kids? any decently fit 20-40 yr old male who has a decent diet woulda been 50x better than some 13-15 year old thats more worried about his hair rather than the lift.
Thats disrespectful asf. The amount of training to put in to perform in these competition is enormous
@@rik9833 really?? Did that kid spotter train a lot too?

Izzy G everyone seems to be using kilograms on this TH-cam vid lol.
Guess they thought that the little kid won't actually need to lift anything cuz every lift will be a success
this doesn't even seem possible. literally looks like they grabbed a bunch of kids just entering high school off the streets to spot heavy lifts at a "professional" competition. Looks more like a competition ran out of someone's garage. Embarrassment on sooooo many levels.....
It’s like they put on Indeed “part time 16+ no experience needed must lift at least 20lbs” and that’s it
3:32 "Better help him out!" *Starts having a fucking seizure* "What the hell..." I know it's messed up but I just couldn't stop laughing
Same I was looking for the comment about it 😂😂
Same, I still don't know why the dude went absolutely bonkers like that.
@@darren561 the body naturally has to send many signals to stabilizing muscles to keep stable in a lift, as well as recruiting all the main muscle fibers. During heavy lifts, the brain sends uneven trigger signals to the muscles which creates that little shake that happens in these heavy lifts. It worsens with time under that heavy tension.
When the dude failed, he was in a bad position to squat, he had been under that extremely heavy weight for a long time, the spotters were lifting the weight in an unbalanced manner, he was probably scared af because he could injure himself, and the spotter behind him pulled him off balance
All in all, just leads to a very scared and plain stressed nervous system which cant control the body well, with almost 1000 uneven pounds on it's back, and someone pulling that body, all in a quick manner that would be hard to react to. Its surprising how he shot out spazzing like that but he had no control of his body at that point, it was his brain just firing away

The strength of the kid isn’t the problem, at least for the first squat, the real problem is that he doesn’t actually know how to spot in the first place

i don't understand why they don't have a hydraulic spotting system or at least safety arms at these levels of competitions. these are the heaviest lifts of the world - protect them.
Hydraulics can fail too. That's why you use safety pins when working on hydraulics just in case you lose compression.
I once was squatting 585 lbs (265 kg) and i looked at my 19 year old maybe 160 lb left spotter thinking, how is this kid supposed to help me? I talked with the director and he said, "youll be fine, your spotters were trained and know what to do". I was confident that i could get it being below my max but i leaned forward too much and the weight fell on me, the right side went up but the kid (i dont blame him, he was giving everything he had) couldnt get it off. My two friends ran up and got the weight off after a solid 10 seconds. I got up, walked to the director and yelled as loud as i could "I FUCKING TOLD YOU YOU NEEDED TO CHANGE THE SPOTTER, THAT KID PROBABLY COULDNT DEADLIFT HALF OF WHAT YOU TOLD HIM TO FRONT SQUAT! ARE YOU ALL THIS FUCKING STUPID I COULD HAVE BROKEN MY BACK!" I got dq'd for that.

IRELIA MAIN we are an expensive breed
But IPF is a drug tested federation. Guess their spotters are drug tested too. The big guys wouldn't clear the criteria. Hence.
Nobody gets it with last one. The guy forces the lifters lower back to bend more by lifting him up against the weight...... which is going down. Hence the spastic display
I do not understand why they don't just use a squat rack with proper safety bars? Would be 1000 times more safe.
Good question.
@Victor Zhan huh? So having 3 guys blocking the view offers more visibility than a tiny bar? Plus they only need to put it there once and they need to go there to setup the rest anyway.
Letting the bar go is instant disqualification in all federations.
This is like 5 years ago.
Those bars weren't even being used apart from a tiny amount of yuppies.
Assuming that you have good spotters there wouldn't be a need for that, in most powerlifting meets if someone fails a lift the spotters help him rerack the bar.
Dropping it in the middle of the room would be messy, probably dangerous for people around and I guess it would be expensive to have to constantly switch bent safety bars and barbells.
Why do all the spotters look like they were at this event to get extra credit in their PE class
fr 😭
For anyone talking about the last clip where he fell out. The guy behind him is actually spotting correctly. You’re supposed to get under him and lift him up. It’s the guy on the right he had the bar to low he wasn’t strong enough. That’s why they switched him out.
He not only wasny strong enough. They all dont know how to hold the bar
Only one spotter was doing his job half right. You can't stand on the end of 400kg and bicep curl it up with your wrists, you need to hug the weights themselves not the bar. The inner left spotter was half right. Needed to be closer. Rear spotter should have followed the lifter down completely instead of halfassing it at the end. Absolutely pathetic
Umm why is there a freaking fortnite kid spotting
Wtf why would you put this child as a spotter on 125 kg.......and on the other side two way stronger dudes.... Strange
