Mall culture in the Philippines stems from our Palengke culture (which is still alive btw): Filipinos by our nature are very social (for the most part), and we have this deep intrinsic need to be around other people. Since our metropolitan areas have less palengkes and more malls, we naturally gravitate towards the latter to fill this social need. You'll notice that most Filipinos in malls are not really buying anything, just loitering, wandering, soaking in the social vibe that we can only really get from other people. This is called "tambay" in Filipino parlance. This isn't simply relegated to malls: parks, streets, heck, even our government buildings are place that we tambay in.
One primary reason why malls are so popular in ph is due to the lack of parks in urban cities, even in rural areas. Malls in ph are a site of leisure and recreation, its the most accessible place where people can gather, linger, and have fun after/when there's no work. That's why malls in ph are always bustling.
Market Market is the lower end mall in that area. You could say that's where the average Filipino would go to as opposed to the higher end malls in BGC. Interestingly SM Aura is also near Market Market and caters to a bit more upscale crowd.
Around the globe the 🇵🇭 malls are the absolute best I’ve ever visited. With happy vibrant and smiling social people mingling around. Thanks for sharing 👌🏾👍🏾✌🏾!
@@srichael2713 Money in the tills pays the bills. Loitering doesn’t keep businesses open. I’ve had a retail business, if your turnover drops 10-15% you’re no longer making a profit. Online shopping doesn’t have to take all your business to make staying open untenable.
Holy shit man, I live in chicago and go to the outlet malls for the sales and watch a movie and just chill, but once the sun goes down, the parking lots turn into a sketch zone. you can just feel the sus in the vibes of the area.
5:50 the Philippine urban layout is for the most part, walkable. No one's rushing because rush hour isn't a thing for mall-goers. If America wants to recapture that, they'd have to overhaul transport culture. Make urban zoning and streets way more walkable. That means Bus networks, trains, terrain conforming street paths for residential and small commercial zones and more. Change that culture and the vibe shall also change for the better.
America doesnt want to recapture that, we dont need to. what does america have that PH doesnt? space. everyone one of those stores in the ph mall has its own building in america. they dont need to be scrunched up in a tiny store slot
@preemptivefaceplant5277 You probably don't go to Europe to sample the exotic European mid engines in the narrow streets of Italy. Disneyland's interior isn't drivable yet people pay hundreds of dollars for their services. The romantic parts of dates with your SO are in the restaurant and the cinema, walking around from A to B holding hands, not on the way in your car. There are many ways to enjoy cars, but from what I've been seeing, Americans have forgotten how to enjoy walking around. Over the decades, you have turned the freedoms of car travel into a burden by requiring them for everything. Make Points of Interest Walkable Again 😉
@@robotsix6268 unfortunately america is to big to be walkable. like take SM megamall in Mandaluyong to MoA thats an hour-2 hour drive depending on traffic time. that same distance is at most a 10-15 minute drive in america. our points of walkable interests are large parks, something PH is lacking unfortunately. not gonna lie, this comment (Americans have forgotten how to enjoy walking around.) feels like the same comment (money doesnt by happiness). Its trying to hold the moral high ground. Poorer people saying it often to the rich because they want them to sound better. when money will solve 90% of thier problems which would alleviate alot of stress in worry in thier life which in essence is happiness bought by money. the same can be said if ph could drive and not worry about only going 20kph but could go 112 kph to get to thier destinations. you make it sound morally better but thats only because you dont have an option but to mostly walk. Im not saying this because im trying to sound mean or look down on the ph because i now live in the ph so im living on both sides.

The thing is Filipinos LOOOOOVE malls. And it's not just because of the aircon lol. IIRC Pinoys have always been massive consumers, so shopping is a fun activity for people regardless if it's the tiangge or the fancy mall. People flock sales esp Christmas. And even if shopping's not your thing, malls are some of the most affordable place to hang out with friends, esp for teenagers. They'd gather at food courts or at the arcade or bowling areas, or just take a walk and do some window shopping. Some even have karaoke and skating rink, not to mention malls have been sites for events like conventions too. So yeah it's no surprise that malls are massive and thriving all over PH.
after school, tons of students hang out at the nearby mall next to our university. fun place; arcades and karaoke, lesiure spots, chairs and food. families also get groceries and school supplies, cellphone acessories, etc
Hi, and good morning Brian, I just watched a few of your videos. I think you're a great storyteller. You are very articulate and, at times, funny. Keep up the great work.
Actually the real ORIGIN on why Philippines starts to celebrate Christmas on September is not because of Marketing Purposes or any Business reasons. It stems from the love and deep devotion of most Filipinos to the Blessed Virgin Mary or as we call her famously here as: MAMA MARY (INA in some Regions). The Birthday of Mama Mary falls every Sept 8. Since there is always Novena before the Feast day, The Celebration starts on the First day of Novena which always falls before even September starts. Sept is also the beginning month in which many Marian Feasts are celebrated all over the Country. October is the month were almost every week there is a Marian Feast. The most Festive Month in the Philippines is always of course, Christmas, which is of course The Birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. But even that starts with a Novena to Birhen sa Belen which is why we have Misa de Galo and Simbang Gabi tradition. In the most Religious Regions of our Country, Christmas Season ends on February 2, The Feast of the Presentation, which is known in our Country as Candelaria, Feast of Our Lady of Candles. The long months of Christmas Celebration stems from Filipinos Religiosity which Americans lost. Actually which The West lost for many centuries. The only way that USA can gain back her life and good vibe is if US comes back completely to God and embrace The One True Religion that Christ established, Catholicism. Thats the only way. Even for the whole West, No any other way.
It's sad that this thing will actually be demolished in 2027 due to the new construction of the Philippine's first Subway train station project. My mom used to work there a lot and personally, Market Market is just a return to those times where I can feel nostalgia.
for every mall closing down, there's gonna be 1 sm or robinsons randomly popping up. boosting the local economy, providing jobs and increasing real estate values.
Sir Brian, thank you for your appreciation, expressing your honest opinions about your observations here in my country Philippines, a third world country🤣. It's more fun in the Philippines. I❤Ph
Back in its prime it has a water fountain at the front entrance and the playground has covers. The activity center or the central part used to have indoor palm tree decorations. Man I miss the old days…
i used to mall hop in American malls in Ohio back in late 90's to mid 2000"s now there no more mall to mall hop 90% closed down and the few left are so boring.
@@sionc1372 its not really about the looting issue. Malls were losing popularity before that was a big issue. why would a company want to run in a tiny slot in a mall when they an own thier whole building. its just much easier to work
I haven't heard of Market Market being called "poor mall" but visiting there a few times I do kinda share somewhat similar sentiments. It's not SM or Ayala malls that's for sure. If you want low end malls, try to visit Santa Lucia over at Marikina & Pasig and before Antipolo. It has incredibly old infrastructure and closed down shops (notably the top floor where the movie theaters are supposed to be) but it's still somehow getting by especially with the LRT station beside it providing enormous foot traffic.
I remember being there in Market Market back in 2002-03. I recognize this hallway in 0:58 heading into the main atrium where there was a giant tv screen near the elevator that showed some anime.
Thank you for your thoughts about the Philippiines. God bless your heart. Sometimes just a silent video with nice relaxing music. Then text graphics if need to emphasize something :) would be nice too.

Malls are important for Filipinos, it’s where you go if the temperature is too hot outside, it’s where you meet up with your friends to establish out, watch movies, or play arcade games, where couples spend their date on, it’s where families go to bond, sometimes low income families will go to malls just to enjoy the AC and the scenery (it’s equivalent to a park). The entrepreneurs and architects understood this culture so they made malls look like parks
Market Market is not really low end. It even has a paid lounge 1:09 which I love the most about it in case of bowel emergencies. Hahaha Starmalls, Ever Gotesco, Walter Mart (sounds like Walmart yes lol) are the really “masa ones.”
@@Brian_The_Lion hahaha! But I also just stay there when I want to sit down or charge outside of the actual cubicles. At least you now know in case of emergency. But seriously that and Shangrila Shaw have the best lounges.
These malls are more like middle-class malls. Even so, the lower-class malls (no air conditioning, more palengke-like stalls, colored tiles) are still bustling with life. You'd see tons of people going in and out, buying at food stalls, shopping for clothes at an ukay-ukay, etc.
Malls are not just for shopping, it is also a place to hang out, back in the older days, I go to the malls to play trading cards and to hang out with friends with common hobbies, mall is also a place where we do "swap meets". During my broke dating days this is also the place where I bring my girl, we go to a fast food chain talk, or play games, and to just have fund in general. Now that I got kids, I bring them there too when they're bored at home. We lack parks here in the Philippines so malls are the best spots, you get free air conditioning while checking and doing fun things.
i don't think they're gonna turn market market into a condo. Market Market will be one of the subway station. The area will be improved as a multi purpose facility.
Yeah, I'm surprise with that as well. Sounds like a bad business decision to close down when so much foot traffic in there and surely alot of people do shop. Considering BCG that other malls will be more expensive, Market-Market is at least a cheaper alternative for everyday shops. With opening of a Subway station within Market-Market grounds, keeping the mall is going to be best decision to do. It will increase the foot traffic further means more potential money. They should expand the mall and even renovate it to keep it fresh.
@@kornkernel2232 they should build underground shopping malls and connect them directly to the new subway station, like the "eki-naka" concept of Japanese railway stations. Makes everything seamless.

Ngl, when we went to a mall in the US.. I was surprised that a strip is also called a mall.. Like a dozen shops outdoor.. Yes we've seen a couple of good sized malls.. Not bad.. We also saw closed ones which was sad. Not sure if people just love online shopping, or.. I don't know but to me it's a good place to meet your friends
its more like they just arnt popular anymore. store owners also know its more benificial to just rent out a whole building then some tiny slot in a mall.
Crazy when I entered malls in the US expecting it to be like the ones in the Philippines... I literally felt cold inside, the mall culture in the US (like those during the 80's) died a long time ago... In the Philippines, malls are like pubs and recreational areas, lots of people, lots of fun, crowded and happy with different cultures represented.
the biggest reason is because in PH the fancy stores are mainly in the malls, movie theaters are in the malls, most decent semi restuarants are in the malls, heck most malls in ph have complete department stores. In america, fancy stores stay away from malls and own thier own buildings. most theaters have thie rown buildings, most decent restuarants have thier own buildings. thats the major difference.
The thing people forget about malls, isn't the shops, the displays, or the razzle-dazzle. It's the people. You can have all of that, and if there are not people, then the mall experience sucks. It blows. It's lame. Malls in the Philippines are crazy; so much people and stuff constantly happening. It's really fun.
I know I'm not seeing the larger picture, but from my perspective one of the reasons malls died in America (or at least California) is that they gradually choked out all the things that attracted primarily low- or no-spenders (teenage students, etc) and prioritized higher and higher end retail stores. Like, you need to set space aside for kids and students, so that families will enjoy spending time there and oops, accidentally spend some money two or three times a week. So that teenage students will have dreams and save up to buy something nice after their first few paychecks. I only go to the mall now because I know what I want to buy and where it is. I want to spend as little time in the mall as possible because there's nothing going on other than the exchange of currency for goods.
Market market is one of the first buildings in BGC. It was the first big mall around Taguig and Pembo. It is also different because it has an outside wet market like area. Being the first mall in the area, it has been a familiar shopping ground for most upper lower income and middle income families (which are the real residents of Taguig and Pembo). It was built even before the rich established in BGC. I don’t think the road to Makati/ Dasmariñas was even built at that time. Filipino rich have a habit of being elitist. They will not mingle with the “poor crowd” even if they just live a few steps away. Honestly, they are missing out. Alot of the rich people malls in the Philippines are older with lesser convenience than Market market. Without the designer stores and expensive restaurants , most of them are just sad.
try Starmall in Edsa, Market Market is better. Market Market still has alot to offer than some malls in the metro. Try malls in metro manila Tutubal mall, divisoria mall and still market market will look and feel better. Market Market is the first (if not first batch, SnR, St Lukes ..... ) of buildings established in BGC in 2001-2002. It became the easiest way to go to Makati if you are located eastern side of metro manila (Pasig, Cainta, Taytay ... Rizal area). It became the lower class area of BGC due to its location near rural area or squatters area back then.
Market Market is arguably not a low end mall especially when compared to those developed by Uniwide. Though much of its patrons are from the middle and working class. It was still the very first shopping mall built in BGC and still has its character.
Muhammad Ali opened the first Mall here in the Philippines. damn I miss Ali mall, I used to go to the second floor where shops for musical instruments lined up where most of the members of Tubero worked at that time.
Living next to Market Market, i never realised many people in my country considered it as the mall for the poor people, i had many memories from that place!
5:55 Here's my two cents as a Pinoy who's watched a few videos on this topic about American Malls when compared to Eastern ones like the Philippines. In America, whoever owns and had the mall built, never thought about how the People would interact with it. In the Philippines, Malls are very common and are almost always situated in places that can be EASILY reached by anyone just by walking a little bit or a quick drive, while in America, its far from people and you'd need to drive long to get there. Correct me if im wrong though. But when it comes to Filipino Malls, this is very much true. Pinoy Malls were made with the thought of keeping and attracting as many people into it. And they succeeded. It's malls for the people.
heres my 2 cents as an american now living in PH. almost all malls in america were built around neighborhoods. Its just reconstruction over decades of time has changed that for alot of them. They were meant for families to come and have fun and a good time while shopping. Heres what you are missing because you arnt an american that lives there. Malls are outdated there. america is about space and freedom. Stores dont want to have a tiny slot in a mall when they can have thier own building to themselves. like think landers size buildings that every store has to themselves. Unfortunately with the rapped expansion of city sizes in america, malls are just not, umm .....convient (i know theres a better word for it but couldnt thank of it haha). Its easier to make 3 warehouse buildings 1 for grocery shopping, 1 for clothes and another is prob just a competitor of the 2, then 4 or 5 small buildings each being a restuarant. its just more economical. i give you an example of what i mean. in houston to get to the north to the south side of houston texas with 0 traffic it would take 2 hours going at 112-120 kph and its only getting bigger. now imagine being able to drive from SM mega mall in Mandaluyong to the MoA being able to go 112 kph with almost no traffic. that went from an hour drive to a 10 min drive at most. so by american standards your malls arnt really far but to a ph they are pretty spread out. Now if america was revolved around malls like PH every couple years we would probably have to build about 50+ malls to coinside with the cities size increase in directions. Its more beneficial to just make several large buildings and stores just to have thier own buildings. I hope that made sense.
Your impression is correct. Market Market and others like it cater mainly to (lower) middle class though some upper crusters will go here. They pretty much provide everything you need.
The secret is that the mall owners here (and in the rest of SE Asia) realized that malls could become giant community centers where you could get everything and everything, especially with the hot and humid weather that everyone's trying to avoid.
Another reason we love malls (I think you mentioned it too).. It's hot outside. So it's a nice place to cool down. And most big malls have churches too. Don't need too much money, you can just walk around, window shopping.. Maybe have some fastfood
Haha true, saw the mall in the US and it feels so sad. The malls in the Phil. is alive -- people really go there to relax, shop, dine, there's dog salons etc. I love malls, its quite lively & at Christmas the kids are really excited to be there 😊
Pilipino here, can confirm that malls here are indeed still popular even after the pandemic. My main go-to (and since its the closest) is SM Megamall in Mandaluyong, such a vibe.
I mean to get anything that doesnt look like it was a donated item you kind need to go to the malls. its comepletely different way of living. all the stores that are in malls in PH have thier own buildings in america so they dont need a small store slot in a mall. Also i live like 5 mins form SM mega in Mandaluyong and im the white person that probably wlks though there, haha. Im pretty sure youve seen me there and not even known XD
I love passing inside that mall on my way to the passenger terminals back when i was a college kid. Pretty neat how that mall got a bunch of passenger terminals to go to different parts of Metro Manila
There is a newly-built SM mall near where I live and it replaced Ever Gotesco mall. It used to be just a 2-storey building but it is now a 4-storey building. I go there every weekend lol
Have you been to Isetann Mall? It's the one in Sta. Cruz, Manila. That's the actual crappiest mall. If you wanna go malling, you'll never even consider going there. 😂
Dude if you ever get the chance to go to Pampanga go to SM Pampanga. Right across it is another Gigantic Mall called Robinsons Starmills both are so freaking huge and both have different vibes. The SM one is more Modern and Crowded as hell also there's literally a full on integrated Amusement park on the back of it with a Gigantic Ferris Wheel and a bunch of other rides, the park is called SkyRanch . The Robinson's one is more of a relatively empty but still lively great place just to hang out and chill in while you wait for your scheduled bus ride on their Bus Terminal on their massive food court. Now they arent 3-4 floors like the one in this vid but trust me these 2 malls that are connected an overpass bridge are really really Fuxking big also their designs look crazy beautiful.
That's why we love to socialize even if we have low financial status but still time to hang around in department stores. As a filipino, we love to loiter around even in spanish and american times. We love to go to different place from wet market to parks and leisure just to have a good time. Even in modern times, we never get enough to feel the atmosphere of lively crowd even at the lowest times just to have a good time.
Ph is also not in a constant state of expansion. almost all cities in america are constantly expanding so its not econimical to have many malls. better to just build many buildings and companys just have the buildings.
The main reason is that malls have replaced parks as places to unwind and gather. Parks and cultural centers are disappearing by the day here due to new malls being developed.
You’re right about $600/condo is cheap living… whereas in the States, Real estate monthly Tax plus condo fee is close to $1000.00. If you add the others like car insurance, car payment, food, electricity, utilities, that’s another $2000. If you have $3000 to splurge in the PH per month, what would that make you?
As a Filipino, malls always have been to me, a place where you go to have hella fun, be it by yourself or with friends or family, its always a great time.
I don't think I've ever seen an abandoned mall in the Philippines before I haven't travelled around the country much so maybe I'm wrong but whenever a mall seems like it'll close, they just renovate it Businesses are always looking to buy new locations so it would be a waste to let all that space go to waste
I find it funny that asking someone out to go on a date to a mall here in the Philippines is totally ok. There's fine dining options in some and some places to go and hangout if you're going to a high end mall. I told some of my foreign friends this over a call on discord and skype and they just gave me this weird silence (I'm assuming weird looks with it).
The problem with American malls is that they're built in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes you need to go onto an interstate highway just to get to them. Not only are American malls smaller and have less offerings than Philippine malls, they are also a hassle to get to. And with online shopping on the rise, most people in America don't really have a real reason to go there. Philippine malls on the other hand are often built in the middle of a city. most of its customer walk to the mall to visit because it's that easy to get there. Heck, you couldn't even avoid them even if you wanted to (my routine commute from home to work actually has me go through 3 separate malls) And like you said malls in the Philippines are more social centers than just a place for retail so they are always packed.
Because of this video, I watched an analysis vid by a guy named Adam Something about American malls, stating that the biggest problem with them is their isolation. They're usually far from anything else, while malls here in the PH are always along commute routes, near train, bus or jeepney terminals, or right in the middle of the city.
malls in america were more often then not built with the intention to have neighborhoods around them. unfortunately with cities constantly expanding. its just not economical to build more malls. companies just owning thier own buildings are easier.
id say market market is low-mid tier. Some malls ended up on the lower end because of age(example: isetan in recto) Even SM north edsa got an upgrade from its blocky brutalist look from the early 2000 to a modern high tier mall. My only issue in some of the higher tier malls is that they make the design so complex, you WILL get lost. I mean, last time i went to Mall of asia, we lost our way to the car park lmao. it took us almost an hour to find it(ie. SM mall of asia, glorietta and greenbelt ect)
They're tearing it down to renovate it and change it into a more of a mix of transportation hub. (Underground trains) and the upper part. ( Malls and parks ) .
not really, its just not popular. most of the stores that use to be there arnt there. why have a small store slot in a mall when you can just have your own building dedicated to you and your stuff
I used to live in the province in the Philippines. Migrated in the US but always like to visit the “bubble BGC”. The town where I live in the US is very clean and crime free and lots of green space. Stay away from the big US cities. Thinking when I retire I’ll be in BGC where my pension and social security will afford me to live like a king. Outside metro Manila the rest of the country has poor urban planning.

Im not saying this because im trying to sound mean or look down on the ph because i now live in the ph so im living on both sides.
@@preemptivefaceplant5277 I'm not sure how you received my points as an attack. Is it the conclusive tone? Not my intent but I still stand by them.
To conclude: A car-centric transportation culture is inefficient and anti-human.
First time being in a mall in SF, i was like, this is a sad mall compared to the ones back home in the ph.

I would suggest Valley Fair Mall, in San Jose. While most malls are dead, this one in San Jose actually is nice to shop and just walk around.

there are people everywhere! imagine them have something to do and spend at least 1hr in the mall, so this mall spits out people with done errands but more people come in to do their things... wow this much foot traffic will keep any kind of mall alive and earning!
That’s why Filipinos are poor, they can’t control their shopping impulse.
after school, tons of students hang out at the nearby mall next to our university. fun place; arcades and karaoke, lesiure spots, chairs and food. families also get groceries and school supplies, cellphone acessories, etc
"Filipinos LOOOOVE consumerism!" so true
Brian always has a good video to watch.
Watching 20 mins of ph news drained me earlier 😂 good thing you have this video that brings good vibes.
You must ready yourself when December hits in Malls it's so crowded, crazy Christmas sale etc.
God bless brother. Thank you for that positive feedback on our malls. Have fun and like we Filipinos always says "Ingat!".

Man if Americans are impressed with this mall I swear they're not ready for Glorietta malls, SM Fairview, Shangri-La Plaza and SM Mall of Asia
SM Fairview is mid at best.
SM North Edsa, Henry Sy’s favorite.
There is even a mall that looks like Venice Italy theme.. forgot it's name.

The thing is we also have malls that are as wasteland like American malls. we call them about to be demolished or already demolished.
for every mall closing down, there's gonna be 1 sm or robinsons randomly popping up. boosting the local economy, providing jobs and increasing real estate values.
Hopefully when you go back to Portland you can do a mall walkthrough video for comparison. Thanks for sharing.
american culture doesnt revolve around malls so thats gonna be a bad comparison

I haven't heard of Market Market being called "poor mall" but visiting there a few times I do kinda share somewhat similar sentiments. It's not SM or Ayala malls that's for sure.
If you want low end malls, try to visit Santa Lucia over at Marikina & Pasig and before Antipolo. It has incredibly old infrastructure and closed down shops (notably the top floor where the movie theaters are supposed to be) but it's still somehow getting by especially with the LRT station beside it providing enormous foot traffic.
I remember being there in Market Market back in 2002-03. I recognize this hallway in 0:58 heading into the main atrium where there was a giant tv screen near the elevator that showed some anime.
oh cool
I will take Market! Market! any day over Lloyd Center, Pioneer Place, or Washington Square.

Hahaha
Starmalls, Ever Gotesco, Walter Mart (sounds like Walmart yes lol) are the really “masa ones.”
Masyado information ate 💩 😂
@@Brian_The_Lion hahaha! But I also just stay there when I want to sit down or charge outside of the actual cubicles. At least you now know in case of emergency. But seriously that and Shangrila Shaw have the best lounges.
These malls are more like middle-class malls. Even so, the lower-class malls (no air conditioning, more palengke-like stalls, colored tiles) are still bustling with life. You'd see tons of people going in and out, buying at food stalls, shopping for clothes at an ukay-ukay, etc.
THANKS BRIAN FOR SAYING GOOD THINGS TO OUR COUNTRY. WATCHING FROM MANCHESTER, UK

Malls in Southeast Asia are nicer and more modern.🙂👌
Thank you for that nice video. More power fo you and your channel.
Whatever they do, market market should stay open. Tons of foot traffic and people go here, maybe buy stuff before catching a train at the station
Theyre prolly gonna turn it to Cubao station-like where the Train stops at the Mall. Which I think gonan introduce more foot traffic once finished.
We appreciate all your kind narration about PH malls and new persoective in life! Your random raw videos are awesome! It's the real thing. Take care buddy!👌✌🇵🇭🇺🇸
I like how the camera angle feels like the POV of a lost child in a mall. good old times
@preemptivefaceplant5277 agreed.. Times change
It's the nice 🇵🇭 people that make all the difference. Mabuhay!
It's really fun.
malls use to be like that in the earliy 90's -early 2000, but not anymore. malls are mostly for businesses that cant own thier own building
Good lifestyle you have! Thanks for sharing
You're always welcome here in the Philippines Brian!! Godbless
Great observation.keep enjoying the Philippines .
Come to bauio city and look for SM baguio this is the only mall that has natural air conditioning
WOW!!! Your Channel Grows Faster than You Think…. Road to 50K Followers Let’s Go!!!🤗🥰🙏👍
Brian you have to check Araneta Center(now called City) in Cubao Quezon City, there are several beautiful new malls in one place over there.
Notice that the people there don’t even shop, they simply just walk.
I love malls, its quite lively & at Christmas the kids are really excited to be there 😊
I love when ypu mentioned roasted nuts and theres a roasted chestnut kiosk 😂😊
Exactly my thoughts, the malls in the Philippines has not comparison in the malls here in Canada and in most of the malls in the US
Pilipino here, can confirm that malls here are indeed still popular even after the pandemic.
God bless you too sir. And Merry Christmas. 🙏
You're dang right about the rice. I'm in AUS but I am still buying a sack of rice regularly. It is gospel
There is a newly-built SM mall near where I live and it replaced Ever Gotesco mall. It used to be just a 2-storey building but it is now a 4-storey building. I go there every weekend lol
Wow. I can't believe I listened to that +9 minutes of monologue from beginning to end. 👍
Appreciate your views and vlogs.
As someone who has grown in walking distance from market market, this place was and is and forever will be peak
As a Filipino, malls always have been to me, a place where you go to have hella fun, be it by yourself or with friends or family, its always a great time.
I don't think I've ever seen an abandoned mall in the Philippines before
I haven't travelled around the country much so maybe I'm wrong but whenever a mall seems like it'll close, they just renovate it
Businesses are always looking to buy new locations so it would be a waste to let all that space go to waste
Sadly there is no any kinds of Retro store that sold old videogame console or repairman of it, if they have it probably a shady one.
Especially in ohio and utah..
My brain always shouting " yoooo watchhh your back ngl"🗿
The malls in Kuala Lumpur are about as good as they get. Although I miss the charm of Philippine malls.
Hi Brian they will replace it with subway station 2029 it will be operational, God willing ❤
I just got back from BGC, Serramonte Mall in Daly City, CA reminds me of Market Market.
They're tearing it down to renovate it and change it into a more of a mix of transportation hub. (Underground trains) and the upper part. ( Malls and parks ) .
amazon killed the mall.. people just don't have time in America anymore.. middle class squeezed out, working extra hours just to make it.
not really, its just not popular. most of the stores that use to be there arnt there. why have a small store slot in a mall when you can just have your own building dedicated to you and your stuff
The Mall The Merrier...🤘🤣
malls have just elevated the filipino "palengke" culture to another level ...
