I'm in SE PA currrntly riding a lightly modded Talaria MX3 and looking to add an Ultra Bee sometime early next year. If you're ever down towards Limerick hit me up we have several miles of well maintained trails, hill climbs, and woods riding just behind my house.
Nick this is awesome! What class did you race with the Sur Ron? I just bought a Tenere 700. I may enlist your services for help with the suspension. Should be easier than the monster 900 we did back 10 years ago... :)
Randy! Good to hear from you, and congrats on the baby Tenere! Lots to love about that bike. I raced this bike in C. Hard to say if I’d be able to hang in B class with it, especially since I babies it to make range. Which wasn’t successful anyway…
Just hit 200 miles on my ultra bee and have love it. It's an absolute blast for single track, its just a shame the range isn't that great or really even usable for racing and its a bummer that it doesn't come with 18/21 out of the box. I really think if the range was at least in the 45-55 mile range it'd be the perfect singletrack bike, I only get 30 if I'm lucky. But its looking like the talaria dragon will be improving upon the ultra bee in every aspect so I can't wait for that.
Agreed on all fronts, though I don’t honestly think I’ve ever seen 30 miles out of a charge. Seems like 25-30 is the high water mark. That Dragon looks interesting…depending on price.
I got an ultra bee lately.. and I wonder, can I store the bike fully charged for 2-3 days before using it?.. the manual does not say anything about it.. thanks for the info that you can share.. more power..
Best practice is to keep the battery state of charge between 20-80% during storage. If possible, don’t charge when hot (right after a ride) and let it settle for a bit after charging. However, also good to occasionally let the BMS balance the cells at 100%. I keep this bike ‘ready’ at 80% and top off a few hours before a ride and try to use the slowest charge rate to be gentle to the cells.
The best thing to do is keep the battery voltage at or around 72v which is the nominal voltage of the battery (40-50%) Especially for long term storage. And never store the battery outdoors. 80% is the limit if you're storing it (80v out of 84v), so only keep it on 80% when you really have to... I wouldn't advise doing that for more than a few days Good practice is charging it to 80% if you need to save time before charging/riding again/doing a shorter ride
@@joem8601 You make some excellent points. My previous post was based on the context of having the bike ready to roll for the next ride (close to 80%).
I'm also 5'9" and found the factory bars to be a little too low. It was possible, especially for moto style riding, but woods left my lower back sore. I'm running the CRF High...both with and without 15 mm bar risers. I go back and forth on whether or not I like those...depends on the type of riding.

Right on man, that sounds great. Hit us up via email and we’ll look to link up.
IT would have been nice to see the footage of you out there riding
Good suggestion. Thanks for watching.

Great content, do you think the stock bar height is enough for someone 5'9"? What bar bend are you running?

Thanks for the content here Nick!
My pleasure!
Where do you live/ride? With that kind of growth, good time for a real estate investment? Thanks
Eastern PA...and yes (but not right now).
