I recently started painting cards and it’s how I trade for value at my lgs. “I’ll paint your commander for that deflecting swat” ; for example. And I gotta get some older cards to paint, the art style was so different back then.
I knew someone who would make his own tokens. Ie. Bulbasaur and link but as tokens. When I traded with him once he’d do the same thing. He’d mention he makes tokens and would offer them for trade. If the trade was short a few dollars. I’d take some of the tokens.
I have loved following this journey. What a nice surprise seeing Japanese and Chinese cards in the collection. Especially older sets. I currently run a local FNM group in the UK, and when I get to play, I love playing Modern, of all the formats we play.
I love these kinds of videos - where it's a collection purchased, and then going through them and finding hidden treasures that have not been appreciated.
I started playing back in 1996 and stopped around 2000. I got back in when Neon Dynasty came out and got all my nieces and nephews in. We tried several formats but they all decided commander was the most fun so that is what we stuck with.
I started playing when Mirage came out. I can attest the most fun is definitely when I started. I took several years off and was confused by how much has changed. Especially with planeswalkers. Love watching you go through this amazing collection!
I love seeing all those cards with the old frame! It wouldn't be possible to fit all the text that newer cards have in a legible way into that form factor so it's a good thing they changed it over the years, but the old frame brings back so many good memories. It's so beautiful.
I really like this videos, because I don’t have to buy collections myself and still get the feeling of finding treasures from my childhood. You give me a lot fun and nostalgic feelings, when watching this. 😊 Damn Rhystic Study didn’t even make the cut a lot times in Drafts, but I still want that card now in Multiplayer games. I played a lot drafts with Dragons Maze back in the Day. The Set was not that bad to play… Standard was alive at that time in my LGS and I could still tell you, what Standard Decks were played there 😂 I played Monoblack (Packrat Devotion - Deck) with Redsplash for Sideboard and RG Ramp with Kalonian Hydra and Ruric Thar XD
Stumbled on this channel. I like what you have going on here. Never seem to find anything like this in my area, but it’s cool to watch for sure. Love playing magic and love finding new channels.
I love these videos - amazing seeing what others have just sitting around and that you can purchase and find. I started back in Revised and as Legends was ending, so I have a ton of memories with all of these videos.
Great videos and what a collection buy! Awesome. Very nice of you too that you're going to give the seller some extra dollars because the worth of this collection.. Keep it up, keep buying these collections! 🙂
6:09 Ice age was one of my favorite sets because it was the first expansion released after I started playing. There were unlimeted and dark and ❤ packs around. Revised and fallen empires we the sets that were the newest when I started this iconic game!!! Keep it up, Matt. love the random buys.❤
One, Two, Three!!! Let's go!!!! I absolutely love these videos Mattcaster so much nostalgia and obsessiveness. It's awesome that you share these moments with us all.
Mans really hit the rhystic study. Have to leave the comment would be nice to have. Really impressive collection. I started with my dad’s revised collection. The older cards have a special place in my heart because that’s what I started with. Went to school and tried playing against 2012-2013 cards with revised. 😅 came home and told my dad about planeswalkers and he was like. Yep here’s my cards you lost me lol. Also. Yes foreign cards are cool! I run Italian. Russian. Japanese and Korean versions of cards I know in my commander decks for flavor.
i got back into magic 4 or 5 moths ago after about a 12 year hiatus and when i first saw what rhystic study was doing these days, i sprinted to my closet and dove into my blue bulk until i finally emerged with 6 copies - and since it never saw play back then (crazy, right?), they're all near-mint. and i thought i'd find one, mayyyybe two, hiding in there. so by the time i was pulling number four, i was basically a giddy mess of shambolic excitement and shocked incredulity.
Super cool collection so far! I find myself ordering cards from Japan more and more as they can be 25% to 50% cheaper then buying them in Canada (both japanese and english versions of cards).
Watching these really makes me smile - the treasure hunting vibe is v fun. I’m still getting the odd lot off ebay, recently had two very bad lots and two really good ones!
EDIT: Oh, just heard you near the end saying there are still more videos. Something falsely indicated to me this was the last one lol. So probably ignore my original comment xD Not a bad collection buy. Did he tell you up front he kept/separately sold his main binders and/or decks, i assume? I became addicted to buy or trading for old collections or chunks of collections for a while. So much fun going through them. More fun than cracking boxes for sure.
Love the work bud! Been a viewer for quite a while and I'm grateful that it seems like everything's really turning around for you. Hopefully 2024 is when better in the second half.
Absolutly beautiful! Congrats Matt! It is a pleasure to watch this video on the beach! Vacation time is sweeter eith some Mtg video! Thanks! Congrats this collection is AMAZING! my fav Format is 2HG and 2HG commander, cannot beat that! Super nostalgic cards but Ravnica is not my fav plane but ehi great sets overall! Stay awesome! I've been diggin this video series. Went to a comic store the other day and got some great cards that were vastly underpriced. Already listed them and getting my money back.
I only have a couple foreign cards. I got a couple of the japanese cards that came out in strixhaven with alternate art. None of the expensive ones though. Interesting to see the old foreign cards.
I do like watching you go through these. I find myself yelling at the screen when you miss cards here and there lol. When I do drink beer, it's Shiner Bock or Spaten.
My favorite formats are Commander and love playing Pre Releases at Ogre's Den in Calgary would love to play against you for one of those in the future!
When I was a teenager I sent card ideas to wizards they sent me the godbook from prophecy so I could evaluate it still have that god book. I loved ice age when it came out too think I was twelve or thirteen . Love your content thank you .
Awesome opening! Organized by color and alphabetically for a portion of it. SYLVAN Primordial was the ome that got banned in commander Also can smell the neckbeards judging you on your beer choice, whatever happened to "let people like what they like?"

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. So many cards are like "...wow, this used to be cool but...not so much anymore..."
I started playing when Mirage came out. I can attest the most fun is definitely when I started. I took several years off and was confused by how much has changed. Especially with planeswalkers.
Love watching you go through this amazing collection!

Great videos! I really enjoy watching you go through old collections.. I started in 1999. My beer of choice would have to be Hurricane.
Do you have play copies of each set after all these collections? :) I’d like to see a video of your favorite cards you own
I really like this videos, because I don’t have to buy collections myself and still get the feeling of finding treasures from my childhood. You give me a lot fun and nostalgic feelings, when watching this. 😊

Loving all the older cards in this collection, great nostalgia for when I started playing.
Man this brings back memories of the teenage years. Wish I still had some of them being that I am getting back into MTG. Commander is a great format.
I love these videos - amazing seeing what others have just sitting around and that you can purchase and find. I started back in Revised and as Legends was ending, so I have a ton of memories with all of these videos.
Been playing since 1994, love seeing the old cards. Makes me want to go through my collection, just for the nostalgia.
Great videos and what a collection buy! Awesome. Very nice of you too that you're going to give the seller some extra dollars because the worth of this collection.. Keep it up, keep buying these collections! 🙂

I started playing at the very end of original Innistrad block, so the RTR cards were the latest and greatest when I was brand new. So nostalgic 😊
Such a crazy find. Spent the weekend doing Bloomburow Pre-release.

Nice pulls, man. I started playing again in 2012 after a long hiatus, so I have pretty fond memories of RtR.
Great collection. Missed some sphere of safety ($4 each) around 18:00
So many cool cards! Loving this collection!!! I’m newer to the game so it’s so cool to see what the art used to look like!!!
i love watching these openings, i watch your market movers everyday too to monitor cards value, keep up the great work man
This collection is the gift that just keeps giving. Thanks for the trip!
Luckily for you the boxes are versy well sorted. I had three random eBay bulk boy buys, and they never were sorted that nicely!
Yo, this collection purchase journey has been crazy. Such a great idea for content, keep it coming! 🎉🎉🎉
It’s so fun seeing these old cards. Love the art!
Love the Rhystic studies and shock lands! Awesome to just find these sprinkled in bulk
i got back into magic 4 or 5 moths ago after about a 12 year hiatus and when i first saw what rhystic study was doing these days, i sprinted to my closet and dove into my blue bulk until i finally emerged with 6 copies - and since it never saw play back then (crazy, right?), they're all near-mint. and i thought i'd find one, mayyyybe two, hiding in there. so by the time i was pulling number four, i was basically a giddy mess of shambolic excitement and shocked incredulity.

Trying to get a knight deck together wondering if there are any old cards that would be good for it.
This is such a crazy collection!! I hope you decided to send this dude more money for this buy
Watching these really makes me smile - the treasure hunting vibe is v fun. I’m still getting the odd lot off ebay, recently had two very bad lots and two really good ones!
That second box was full of fire and nostalgia for those late 90s early 2000s sets.
That collection just keeps giving man!!! 3 rifts???? WOW!
EDIT: Oh, just heard you near the end saying there are still more videos. Something falsely indicated to me this was the last one lol. So probably ignore my original comment xD

My favorite Counterspell art is that dude in red looking shocked his spell didn't resolve
Love the work bud! Been a viewer for quite a while and I'm grateful that it seems like everything's really turning around for you. Hopefully 2024 is when better in the second half.
Takes me back to the days seeing those madcap skills and Frontline medic, fun boros running shenanigans.
Just getting back into commander and rebuilding my collection. Would love to find a collection like this. Great video
Excited! Greetings from Germany it's 11:51 PM here, time for some relaxing MTG Delving
Not too much value but you skipped some Jarads (ca. 5€ here) at 22:24
Absolutly beautiful! Congrats Matt! It is a pleasure to watch this video on the beach! Vacation time is sweeter eith some Mtg video! Thanks! What a blast to see the older style cards and especially the foils - I’m old so I may be biased there - thanks Matt for sharing this!
Rhystic Study for the win - left my previous comment before you found the extra one
19:25 Grave Betrayal is worth like 2-3$. Specially with the new Rakdos weasel in bloom burrow. I know I run it in my jasper flint deck.
Wow I thought this video was the last part. Nice finds with the rhystic and shocks!
I would love a rhystic study! Great video!!
I've been diggin this video series. Went to a comic store the other day and got some great cards that were vastly underpriced. Already listed them and getting my money back.
There is something to be said about the beauty of the old frame cards. They really don't make em like they used to!
Returned in the last couple of years since Tempest lol - it is like learning the game again. Really really enjoying commanders.
I wasn't playing back then. My son got me into magic about 5 years ago.
As someone who also buy random lots, it seems you hit the jackpot this time!
I really like the variety of sets and the fact that the foils and rares are sleeved
This has been awesome to see. Enjoying seeing all of the hits being found.
Nice lord of the void and shocks dope collection!
If you see any Hacker-Pschorr in your liquor stores they do great German beer, ya gotta try em!!
Those mercadian masks brainstorms are like $4-5, probably worth picking out
Dynamite collection buy, I've really enjoyed watching you comb through it
Awesome stuff! Man, I need to find a collection of my own to acquire because this seems like so much fun!
I only have a couple foreign cards. I got a couple of the japanese cards that came out in strixhaven with alternate art. None of the expensive ones though. Interesting to see the old foreign cards.
I wish I could find a buy like that near me. Now it's literally just the bulk of bulk, nothing over .25 cents.
This collection just keeps getting better and better!
Love all the old cards. Started playing in 98 but lost me collection. Keep waiting for you to find a phage the untouchable
Were one of the Cyclonic Rifts in foil???
That dust to dust is an easy 10$ bill! Add it to the tracker!
There was a stack of sphere of safety in there. Those are an easy 5-6 bucks a piece! Pull those
Skull of Ramos in Japanese! 🐸
Lots of Creep Incursions and Retraced Images, love those cards
I do like watching you go through these. I find myself yelling at the screen when you miss cards here and there lol. When I do drink beer, it's Shiner Bock or Spaten.

Shooting my shot for rhystic study, I think this is from the same collection with the foil silence, would love to have those 2 in my narset deck😂
Omg, I just gotta try for that rhystic study! I just started back after over a decade, back when study was a dollar 😂
Oh hell Yeah! Nice Rhystic Stacks!! Thanks for Sharing!
I sometimes just go through my own stuff like this. I occasionally still find some random gem that I missed or just recently became good
Would love a Rhystic Study! You'd only have to send it one province over!
3 rhystic studies!!! Amazing!! Great collection
When I was a teenager I sent card ideas to wizards they sent me the godbook from prophecy so I could evaluate it still have that god book. I loved ice age when it came out too think I was twelve or thirteen . Love your content thank you .
You missed the Sphere of Safety’s in RTR. It’s an uncommon, but I think they’re like almost $4 a pop now.
Love playing these in the background. Keep it up brother.
Excited to watch the video!
Edit:.Wow, those rhystic studies.. Would be a dream to find three of those in a single collection
Look forward to a new collection buy video all week!
I love watching these collection videos... gives me the itch to go try my luck!
Great buy, loving watching you discover its contents
Awesome opening!
Organized by color and alphabetically for a portion of it.
SYLVAN Primordial was the ome that got banned in commander
Also can smell the neckbeards judging you on your beer choice, whatever happened to "let people like what they like?"
Would be cool to see a video on the decks you make from this collection.
Love to see submerge, capsize, mana surveyance(sp?) and more. Some bangers!
Dust to Dust is like 12-20 euro in EU depending on condition and set.
Godspeed dude. Been enjoying this dig. What a wild collection.
What a great buy! I wish that they all could be this great!
I can't believe the value that started accumulating in that second box.
