I'm glad I found this video, cause I was trying to find a god for my abjuration wizard. They aren't much for fighting, but their main goal is protecting people, so I think it still works well.

I play a life cleric that follows helm, that is basically a bounty hunter for the temples of his land that are attacked by heretics and unpeaceful beings that wish horrors on the said temples. I just thought helm was so fucking badass, and the idea of playing a lawful good butt kicker sounded so cool to me. I've also etched an eye into the right glove of my Minifigure for the character lol

In 3rd edition, Helm had a bastard sword called Ever Watchful (aka VIndicator), which was his preferred weapon. It would later be wielded by the “Shadowhunter”

I had so much fun having Helm as my Paladin's patron. My GM played him as this silent dad who is constant mistaken for being a deadbeat, shit was hilarious.

Main Villain of my game was a champion of Helm, who has been given divine protection. My party was very chaotic.

Fantastic video and drawing! I have a player who chose Helm as their character's God and this was really helpful summarizing the history and overall characteristics of Helm!

My players for a Faerun Sunless Citadel version for the Sword Coast, they adopted a guard into the party. He's a character that feels conflicted over the bad hand that is constantly sent his way.
Feeling faithless, the party's guard is well aware of Helm and has requested to visit Helm's Hold. He will go on a pilgrimage and I will see how the players will assist or divert the NPC's path.
Personally, I use Helm as a method to introduce some of the more downtrodden races in D&D as they become equals in a militaristic society. Such as Tieflings, Drow, Orcs, and Protector Aasimar.

I'm currently playing a Twilight Domain Cleric. Starting out as a level 1 initiate for the Church of Helm. He seems to become a member of The Order of the Vigilant Riders. An Order of Helm that patrols the trade routes between cities helping people out and defending the routes against trouble. Think state Highway Patrol troopers here in America. Same concept.

I'm also about to play a twilight cleric under helm. In our last session the cleric of the party (a lovable and somewhat insane goblin of the light domain) pulled the donjon card from the deck of many things because he just had to fuck around, and naturally found out. I'm currently a monk and I told my dm I want to multuclass into cleric for the next session with helm (the goblin's original deity) as my deity. Should be fun.

I’ve played a redemption paladin of helm that was a fallen asamar noble living in, he didn’t know he was an asamar until the day he went out to a bar after a minor fight with his wife only to be tricked into thinking he had murdered his wife, son, and house full of servants. A paladin of helm nearby was given divine instruction that a grave injustice had just occurred arriving before the guards had o see a whaling crying fallen Angel holding the dead body of a woman covered in blood. He grabbed my character and brought him to helms hold. There he rested, trained and was taught the ways of a paladin. Soon he was sent to phandlin an a journey of repentance, and self discovery. Completing many minor quests, but his ultimate target was a white dragon plaguing the land. Losing many friends in his early adventures, he would put on a brave face, handsome as he was, womanizing and drinking between missions (he did this before, though while married he always stayed loyal) he would learn to control the void in his heart as a weapon when all other means of peace had failed, he would even take to dating the female dwarven blacksmith, at first for a place to stay, soon because of genuine care. After the dragon was slain, and discovering unsettling facts about his previous father in law, he knew he had to get true justice if he would ever know peace. He would come clean to his girlfriend show her his true nature before heading out. She was terrified and kicked him out, though sorrowful for his plight. They parted a new hole in his heart to neverwinter descovering a foul plot involving hags, changelings and demons spreading fear as a mage (his father in law) manipulated things around the city as a merchant lord, even keeping his still living son for reasons that only after discovering his own nature became apparent. Soon after and a death and recovery later fought and killed the hags found his wife’s true killer, and exposed his father in law to all bringing as many as he could to justice in the public courts. Exonerating himself gaining not only his son back but millions of gold some was his frozen as he was a suspected murderer, and all of his father in laws assets as well, discovering a particularly foul book in his possession. He would retire a protecter asamar, his manor renovated in to an orphanage and school, a loving father to his son, and an defense attorney and guard negotiator. A warrior ready to act in the name of justice if the city ever needed him.

Bro, i'mma keep it real - i know it's been two years, but do you mind if I make this dude into an NPC/Narrative character in my world I'm building? I will straight up give you my email so we have a better way to talk about this, but I ADORE this idea. Killer fuckin job, man. I'm impressed by both you AND your DM. Great fuckin work, boss.

I play a Warforged Paladin who follows Helm, but I really need to step up the religious side of my character since I rarely actually have my character pray or anything. At the very least I’m following the ideology of protecting people, I bought a cursed missile attracting shield so I could potentially take ranged attacks in place of my allies.

    Just noticed something funny...
I have a fighter I'll be turning into a paladin for Helm soon in a big table with many DMs and players sharing the same universe (She's a Zariel Tiefling, former soldier from the Blood War now seeking a better life as a knight from a noble house.)
On the world's hub (a Inn) she found a drunken half orc kid. She helped getting him to his room and promised not to tell to his step mom that he got drunk... So... Helm forgives "Minor transgressions" from children huh? Ironic...

I currently have a Warforged War Cleric/Fighter build aligned with Helm. He wants to become a Paladin of Helm but in our campaign, it would be mechanically impossible but he doesn't know that.

    • @itslegendlore
      @itslegendlore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I play a paladin/monk multiclass who fled his corrupt temple in order to fully serve as a protector of the people and servant of Helm. Sort of a wandering swordsman/samurai character, although I do work with my party to save local towns and such.
