As @snivyland2878 pointed out, the buffs from Shock Trooper and Smite Infusion don't seem to be working at the moment. This was originally an issue that was fixed after the launch of the rework, but it seems it's gone back to not working anymore.
Nourish still works though and they've already fixed the issue once so here's to hoping they can do it again!
Fantastic video! I have been doing some experimenting for a future video involving summon buffs and this has been a great resource for finding out a few tidbits I wasn't aware of (like the Battalyst disco being triggered by Fusion Strike, I never noticed that's what caused it). I've been doing some messing around with the Theorem arcanes myself recently and I have a novel interaction to mention.
So, weirdly enough, if you're using two kitguns and they each have a differing Residual element, those elements can actually combine on your summons. For example, using Shock and Boils grants them Radiation damage, which opens up some cool opportunities like extra AoE or shield/armor removal (not special with fusion strike in play, but still). A big benefit of this is that the damage increases also stack, which results in pretty big jumps in damage (I was going from hitting 1.1k with no element, to 3.3k with one, to 25k(!!!) with 2, done with Ortholyst shots in their artillery state).
The main issue with this is the fact that you can only have two Residual zones active at a time, and if they're both the same element then you are gonna waste a ton of time waiting for them to go away so you can get your second element going. This requires playing in a very particular manner to be sure that you aren't ever triggering more than one zone of the same element, and because the trigger chance is only 20%, this is really really annoying. It also seems to sometimes bug out and just completely wipe BOTH of your elements off your summons for seemingly no reason, which drives me insane. I've been testing a bunch of things and keep thinking I have it just for it to be wrong, so I'm really not sure what's up at this point.
Still, while it may not be very practical, I think it's really neat and can also lead to some big numbers by stacking the buffs. While he isn't the subject of this video, Nekros being able to heal his summons lets him extend Theorem Infection's buffs indefinitely, making the strat more practical on him in my experience. It's also great for regular specters and the Kahl beacon, though those don't benefit from Summoner's Wrath.
damn this got my gears grinding now.
But yeah as you said getting that 20% is an absolute pain so not super practical
another point to note as ive been playing tons of caliban since his rework/deluxe, (favorite frame by far atm) the theorem arcanes even if the buff visually falls off you still do keep the damage buff if you step into a new zone, although im not sure if it still extends to summons when it does this, and worth noting ive not tried using 2 kitguns. Additionally, i tried using shock and for some reason (couldve just been my testing) i wasnt able to get any electric procs out of them nor any damage increase on them. Idk if i just wasnt using it right or simulacrum is weird. Another thing that might be worth testing is with either theorem infection or a subsume, if archon shards that give a % increase to damage if affected by an element would work on the summons.
purple shards could absolutely go crazy if the summons also get the % damage increase, however I run 3 tau str shards for the damage multiplier and idk if theyd be worth dropping over a different source of % increase, i am bad at finding out the math on stuff like this
@@KrokusOfDagon From my testing ability damage from Topaz/Violet shards don't increase summon damage sadly, forgot to put that in the video sorry
@ all good, i loved the video and hope we get to see more from ya friend
Well that was rather informational and I learned how the Residual arcanes work!
Honestly? Fucking Impressive, I've always been interested in Caliban, the multiple summons, the massive utility, the complexity but I always found it infuriation the little in terms of information about his kit works, this might be one of my favorite Warframe videos ever, keep up the good work
This is really cool! A good guide to Caliban’s kiddos, and I now know how to use residual arcanes. Thanks!
Came for the info, stayed for banger music playlist
This video rocks holy hell. Super informative, well edited, based music choices, it's all there
Informational Warframe guide with a banger playlist?! Now that's what I'm talking about!
Glad more people are warming up to Caliban since the rework. He is definitely my preferred summon frame. I have been gunning really hard for an ally flood build.
Pretty much consists of lethal progeny for a max of 7 sentients
Mind control over razor gyre (with mind freak and the bugged primary acuity kuva chakkhurr (talking 10,000% mind control damage if you land the right priming hits))
A hound with duplex bond, manifold bold, momentous bond, contagious bond, and null audit (dog weapon modded for as many status types I can fit) The end is an eximus dog that can apply pretty much any status type assuming I am killing a bunch of eximus units
90% efficiency means the hound copies itself every two ability casts at most.
Best case scenario you have 7 sentients, 1 10,000% buffed eximus, and 4 hounds (the main hound being a super status priming eximus 90% of the time)
I wish DE would implement an augment for Xata's Whisper that functioned like Shock Trooper to buff allies with void damage. If they did that, it would be fun to run a 4 person Caliban group each with a different ally buffing ability. Electric, Radiation, Viral, and Void would be really interesting to have stacked together (too bad Xata's Whisper doesn't buff allies). Maybe throw some Caliban specters with mind control in there, too.
May I say that I genuinely love this video.
Both for its informative and detailed breakdowns as well as providing the names of the music tracks used.
I now have some new favorite tunes to listen to.
Honestly, as a Caliban main, I've found all of his guys are really good if you know what you're doing. They've been the reason I do so well most of the time.
This is esoteric tec and I will be using it, thank you
This video is badass as hell. Genuinely amazing video!
As a huge caliban fan/main, I greatly appreciate this video. Very well done! I can't wait to try some of these interactions with the residual arcanes!
I actually took caliban to an EDA with a friend of mine but didn't have any weapons to deal with necramechs. I was SHOCKED to see my conculysts absolutely obliterate them for whatever reason, the tornado attack specifically
I might have overexaggerated how bad Conculysts can be to be fair, even with all their issues they can absolutely shred through enemies with just their base stats
3:38 excuse me what? I didn't know that, even tho I've played Caliban for a loooong time. Guess something about it breaks on certain missions or I'm simply unlucky
Came for the Caliban guide, left with more music in my playlist
Awesome video! Always wondered which goober was doing the best
Absolute banger video. I was trying to figure out why theorem infection wasn't applying. Because the weird thing is, at lower stacks and lower power str, the buff applies even if you summon after getting the buff. Finally understood it after so long😂
Ty for explaining waliban sentients
i see a pattern with the bgm. i like that pattern.
Video was great but now we need one for your fashion
I don't want to detract from the work you've done here, it's legitimately very good and very useful information to have, but if you're going to list BRCF in the music credits, could you add JSR and Umurangi Generation too? Also (as much as I'm sure you're aware I'm pointing it out anyway in case you're not), Scraped on the Way Out and Last Hoorah should be included as BRCF OST tracks.
Oh damn, good point. Originally had it as that, since from what I could find both Hwbouths and Morning Glow were specifically made for the soundtrack, while the Kilowatts tracks came out about 10 years before BRCF. Just to be on the safe side I updated the description tho.
Not entirely sure what you mean by crediting JSR and Urumangi Generation, since from what I understand, I didn't use any music from either of those games.
I'm very new to this though so I might be missing something, so I appreciate you pointing this out!
Great video but I think you missed a really weird and important quirk. If you use shock trooper and smite infusion for some reason the ortholyst barrage attack will not proc the element you applied to it. I’ve tested this a thousand times and I still have no clue why it doesn’t
After doing some testing, it seems you're right, Shock Trooper isn't applying at all.
This was originally a problem when the rework was initially launched, but was fixed soon after (tested it myself too), but it seems like it's back to not working.
Thanks a lot for pointing it out, guess you always need to triple check when it comes to this game lmao
12:35 "Summons dont seem to get the Theorem buff on summon but rather on refresh."
Wait... So I have been doing it all wrong? I thought it snapshotted at the time of casting. At least for Nekros summons.
fun fact: ive been working on a strength build myself, and well... 30k tau is very satisfying to see
I'm actually surprised that that summon damage mod and Rhino roar are Faction Damage buffs. Is faction damage their version of "true damage" buff?
Also, now I'm curious how these summon mods interact with Dante's birds. Are those birds considered an "entity" in game that is affected by such buffs?
I love this video. Gave me things to think about when I'm going to tinker with my own Caliban.
Fun fact from dante all new/rework warframe can buff operator and necramech that why caliban 3 can overshield operators
Would you consider making a Cali-bibble (Caliban bible) at some point? I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate that.
Edit: Holy shit, i did not realize how new your channel was. This video was really well done for such a new channel. Keep up the good work!
mmm good caliban soup
Aphex twin ahh soundtrack
Good shit
"avid caliban fan"
not gatekeeping here, all my calihomies are valid, but how long have you been one?
I uh...
Only really after I got him for free with the rework I'll be real with you chief. Always been a fan of his concept and Sentients as a whole, but I'm not sadly not a day 1 calihomie I'm afraid
@dotthanda neither am I, I was a calihomie since about I think may of last year
I fell in love instantly tho, as soon as i first played him, I'm even calling myself the Sentient Tenno
