Warframe | Trying to explain Caliban's Lethal Progeny
As an avid Caliban fan I've been goofing around with his summons a lot recently and figured I'd share some of my findings.

really awesome video, thank you :D
hope they fix thermal sunder augment, not working, blast/cold/heat are cool stats to give to the summons, i have already apply viral from my primer and companion, also, the melee ones don't seem to apply nourish viral at all, but the ranged ones yes, seems the "tau status chance" also applies to the other effects
quick question, is the kitgun you use just a random one or is there a specific build to work with the arcanes?
Nope, just a regular old Kitgun build. With the exception of Residual Malodor, the Kitgun and its mod doesn't interact with the Residual Arcanes at all and you just want to focus on killing things.
I love my Ortholyst
Great video I was wondering how I could improve my Caliban's performance (at least the summons, the summons were what got me interested in him waaay back upon release) and the info here is perfect for that! I know there are other better subsume abilities for him, but I want to give a special mention to desiccation's curse, which can allow him to summon 5 cats, for a total of 12 friends (16 if you add companion + Duplex Bond) and create the Swarm experience
personally I use empower to get 50 more power strength and pump the level of the summons up even higher
Nice video! I suggest maybe an AI voice? Would be nice to not have to read along and focus on the visuals and gameplay :)
excellent video. good text. well done i just got a 200% invigoration and now have 500% power strength before camisado >:) gooded video i say again. thank you
Hey since we're leaning into electricity damage, could i use archon stretch for energy generation since it works with companion abilities? Might be a way of circumventing calliban's energy hungry playstyle lol
Forgot to mention it in the video, but the Sentients can't activate any of the Archon mods
@dotthanda dang too bad.
@@cleo3228 To expand on this, I'm fairly sure it's because the attacks that can apply elemental status effects count as weapon attacks, which is the only reason the elemental damage buffs work on them in the first place
First of all: I absolutely love this video format. You make a 15 minute video actually enjoyable in the era of 10-20 min that don't say anything at all. From the editing, actually watchable in-game clips (not guaranteed in the chaos of Warframe), to the music choice. You deserve many subscriptions just for this. About the video: I stopped playing consistently since before Warframe 1999 because I played a lot of whispers in the wall-jade shadows and the new content really doesn't appeal to me. But I was experimenting with Caliban's summons right after the rework, they were bugged as hell, and I found it a fun AND somehow innovative way to play the game. While Nekros may be the "master" of summons, I just think being able to not worry as much about dying is way more valuable than "stronger" summons. All those tools feel great to me. Also I always tend to not subsume Nourish in any build. It may be very powerful, but relying on it really kills build diversity which really hinders gameplay in Warframe IMO. Once they'll fix Shock Trooper not applying to sentients again, it might be a good idea to run it on Caliban AND still run Theorem Infection-Residual Arcanes for a support status IMO. We have the DoT from Electricity, at that point Cold might actually be useful so that our mindless Sentients can actually hit enemies reliably, boost crit damage by a flat amount, and maybe even trigger some cold-related arcanes.
calling Caliban tech obscure is an understatement to be honest
SUMMULYST GANG
finally, I’ll be able o use the skin I paid for. Yippie
Good stuff! Also something else to mention and it's regarding Arcane Camisado. You gain stacks when your summons deals damage, which for Caliban is pretty much everything. But it also includes the Conculysts' Fusion Strike beam! And it makes getting max stacks of Camisado trivial. So if you want to snapshot Ability Strength for your summons, you can do something like: summon Conculysts -> Fusion Strike for Camisado stacks and armor strip -> do whatever Ability Strength snapshotting you want to do -> Summon Ortholysts/Summulysts -> if you have a subsume for elemental damage, give them that -> get Residual buff.
Oh hadn't thought about using Fusion Strike to stack Camisado, that's genius!
man , fck. now i need to get into this theorem-residual stuff and get an updated kitgun, Great video thank you for the information.
I'm currently working on a video on Theorem and Residual Arcanes actually!
@dotthanda berry nice, hoping to see it. currently trying to decide on a kitgun to get for it, primary-secondary etc. will also be getting a build so i hope the video on it will be useful
This is such a good video wtf !!!! I initially thought this must be a 50k channel at least. Wow.
Brooo the kitgun 😭
Really salty how alot of things interact with summons Like you'd think its pretty straight foward (and it is in some cases, aka nourish and roar) Also appreciate the theorem one as i never underatood if i was doing something wrong with it,or if it worked on him,got frustrated and never touched it again I do hope we get an augment for these guys,or ya know...fixes...
Hey man, I gotta say, 10/10 on this one. I'd love to hear more videos from you about things like base caliban's kit (especially since i consider a no-helminth setup the best) and some weapons that go well with him. Instant sub from me
Yeah I saw a guidemaker trying to say Ortholyst is bad, I just sat there and went "did he actually use it?"
Finally, a caliban video that teaches me something new, and is posted after summoner's wrath and camisado dropped.
Fun fact from dante all new/rework warframe can buff operator and necramech that why caliban 3 can overshield operators
Would you consider making a Cali-bibble (Caliban bible) at some point? I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate that. Edit: Holy shit, i did not realize how new your channel was. This video was really well done for such a new channel. Keep up the good work!
To be entirely honest I really don't think I'm qualified to make a Cali-bibble, compared to people like RowanIsAMagMain and Sci-Fi Freak I just don't know nearly enough about the game or making videos about it. Really happy you're enjoying the video though!
Came for the Caliban guide, left with more music in my playlist
May I say that I genuinely love this video. Both for its informative and detailed breakdowns as well as providing the names of the music tracks used. I now have some new favorite tunes to listen to.
fun fact: ive been working on a strength build myself, and well... 30k tau is very satisfying to see
"avid caliban fan" not gatekeeping here, all my calihomies are valid, but how long have you been one?
I uh... Only really after I got him for free with the rework I'll be real with you chief. Always been a fan of his concept and Sentients as a whole, but I'm not sadly not a day 1 calihomie I'm afraid
@dotthanda neither am I, I was a calihomie since about I think may of last year I fell in love instantly tho, as soon as i first played him, I'm even calling myself the Sentient Tenno
Aphex twin ahh soundtrack
This is really cool! A good guide to Caliban’s kiddos, and I now know how to use residual arcanes. Thanks!
12:35 "Summons dont seem to get the Theorem buff on summon but rather on refresh." Wait... So I have been doing it all wrong? I thought it snapshotted at the time of casting. At least for Nekros summons.
It also does that. I don't know when but they fixed for Nekros to get even after he summons shadows, so you don't have to be in danger waiting to stack first and the summon anymore
I got into an argument with some brainlet in a TH-cam short about Atlas being outdated and needing a rework, this MF had the audacity to say Rumblers were better Lethal Progeny. *_Fucking Rumblers._* If that buffoon ever sees this comment, you're still dead wrong.
Informational Warframe guide with a banger playlist?! Now that's what I'm talking about!
I actually took caliban to an EDA with a friend of mine but didn't have any weapons to deal with necramechs. I was SHOCKED to see my conculysts absolutely obliterate them for whatever reason, the tornado attack specifically
I might have overexaggerated how bad Conculysts can be to be fair, even with all their issues they can absolutely shred through enemies with just their base stats
lore accurate sentients even the ortholysts absolutely annihilate heavy-tier stuff like the efervon tank without need for an rpg its insane
Funnily enough the other day I was doing an EDA with my petsitter dante build and I just did a round of rebuffing and my Sunika kubrows ripped demolyst necramechs to shreds in about 6 seconds, which isn't the most impressive showing a weapon can give but for a kubrow? Hot damn. Not sure if it's something specific to necramechs and companions/allies, but the effect is better than anything I had on me.
Honestly, as a Caliban main, I've found all of his guys are really good if you know what you're doing. They've been the reason I do so well most of the time.
As @snivyland2878 pointed out, the buffs from Shock Trooper and Smite Infusion don't seem to be working at the moment. This was originally an issue that was fixed after the launch of the rework, but it seems it's gone back to not working anymore. Nourish still works though and they've already fixed the issue once so here's to hoping they can do it again!
Great video but I think you missed a really weird and important quirk. If you use shock trooper and smite infusion for some reason the ortholyst barrage attack will not proc the element you applied to it. I’ve tested this a thousand times and I still have no clue why it doesn’t
After doing some testing, it seems you're right, Shock Trooper isn't applying at all. This was originally a problem when the rework was initially launched, but was fixed soon after (tested it myself too), but it seems like it's back to not working. Thanks a lot for pointing it out, guess you always need to triple check when it comes to this game lmao
@@dotthandaWarframe moment
Awesome video! Always wondered which goober was doing the best
i see a pattern with the bgm. i like that pattern.
As a huge caliban fan/main, I greatly appreciate this video. Very well done! I can't wait to try some of these interactions with the residual arcanes!
Glad more people are warming up to Caliban since the rework. He is definitely my preferred summon frame. I have been gunning really hard for an ally flood build. Pretty much consists of lethal progeny for a max of 7 sentients Mind control over razor gyre (with mind freak and the bugged primary acuity kuva chakkhurr (talking 10,000% mind control damage if you land the right priming hits)) A hound with duplex bond, manifold bold, momentous bond, contagious bond, and null audit (dog weapon modded for as many status types I can fit) The end is an eximus dog that can apply pretty much any status type assuming I am killing a bunch of eximus units 90% efficiency means the hound copies itself every two ability casts at most. Best case scenario you have 7 sentients, 1 10,000% buffed eximus, and 4 hounds (the main hound being a super status priming eximus 90% of the time)
I wish DE would implement an augment for Xata's Whisper that functioned like Shock Trooper to buff allies with void damage. If they did that, it would be fun to run a 4 person Caliban group each with a different ally buffing ability. Electric, Radiation, Viral, and Void would be really interesting to have stacked together (too bad Xata's Whisper doesn't buff allies). Maybe throw some Caliban specters with mind control in there, too.
Yo this is a fun idea. I do some similar stuff here and there. Main things I'll comment are Sunika Kubrow are off the shits for damage and I personally run hounds with Repo Audit, as it actually applies all their damage buffs and statuses thanks to manifold bond, generally instapriming a huge area around themselves, I find it a little more reliable than eximus, but eximus *is* really cool, I get it.
@@Meguminimal I chose Null Audit because while it is technically less consistent with some eximus (compared to Repo Audit), there are a few that when copied are are absolutely cracked. Mostly thinking of the shock, arson, and jade light eximus. Shock deals multiple hits in a short period of time allowing for a many status types stacking up. Arson is just one big AOE priming (unfortunately with LOS I'm pretty sure) Jade light will kill anything it targets, which mixes well with contagious bond because when the hound kills the enemy, 50% the accumulated status types effectively get passed on in a 9m radius effectively nuking everything within that radius. My consistent priming comes though Synergized Prospectus (pretty much functions like Cedo's glaive, but slower and a bigger AOE), Coolant Leak (functions similar to your use of Repo Audit, but less range and no disarming), and Reflex Denial (another AOE over a period of time). One thing I love is that Momentous Bond adds the elemental damage bonus to the hound weapon, meaning Momentous Bond gives Manifold Bond more elements to prime with. Also, sentient ally kills count as player kills proccing Momentous Bond, which stacks btw. In general, your use of Repo Audit is nice for consistency, I might have to try that at some point.
Absolute banger video. I was trying to figure out why theorem infection wasn't applying. Because the weird thing is, at lower stacks and lower power str, the buff applies even if you summon after getting the buff. Finally understood it after so long😂
I'm actually surprised that that summon damage mod and Rhino roar are Faction Damage buffs. Is faction damage their version of "true damage" buff? Also, now I'm curious how these summon mods interact with Dante's birds. Are those birds considered an "entity" in game that is affected by such buffs? I love this video. Gave me things to think about when I'm going to tinker with my own Caliban.
Came for the info, stayed for banger music playlist
3:38 excuse me what? I didn't know that, even tho I've played Caliban for a loooong time. Guess something about it breaks on certain missions or I'm simply unlucky
It's a pretty rare attack. I would even say it's just an easter egg. It can happen but it's not reliable lmao
This video rocks holy hell. Super informative, well edited, based music choices, it's all there
mmm good caliban soup
This video is badass as hell. Genuinely amazing video!
I don't want to detract from the work you've done here, it's legitimately very good and very useful information to have, but if you're going to list BRCF in the music credits, could you add JSR and Umurangi Generation too? Also (as much as I'm sure you're aware I'm pointing it out anyway in case you're not), Scraped on the Way Out and Last Hoorah should be included as BRCF OST tracks.
Oh damn, good point. Originally had it as that, since from what I could find both Hwbouths and Morning Glow were specifically made for the soundtrack, while the Kilowatts tracks came out about 10 years before BRCF. Just to be on the safe side I updated the description tho. Not entirely sure what you mean by crediting JSR and Urumangi Generation, since from what I understand, I didn't use any music from either of those games. I'm very new to this though so I might be missing something, so I appreciate you pointing this out!
This is esoteric tec and I will be using it, thank you
Honestly? Fucking Impressive, I've always been interested in Caliban, the multiple summons, the massive utility, the complexity but I always found it infuriation the little in terms of information about his kit works, this might be one of my favorite Warframe videos ever, keep up the good work <3.
