Soldier Boy and Homelander were the best but for exact opposite reasons. Homelander was his usual self being scary and terrifying but Soldier Boy was HILARIOUS (he was also hilarious in the boys but still pretty serious!)
When Anthony star doesn’t overdue the facial expressions and keeps them more micro, god is it unbelievable. I think the directors just like making him look obviously unhinged and have him do it exaggerated but it’s way more menacing when it’s just around his eyes.
I’m satisfied with the level of integration in season one. Found a good balance of Gen V having its own identity while also adding to the world building of the Boys. Also set up some important stuff for season 4

No justifying, but Supersonic was plotting against Homelander, he didn't want the likes of Blindspot in The 7, and Black Noir held out on him. For Marie, though she had a good reason, from Homelander's pov, she was doing something that could end up sabotaging his public image.

I wish this show was longer. Maybe somewhere in the ballpark of 12 or maybe even 16 episodes. The show was hitting its stride with the last few episodes and then it just ended. I would have loved to see the world of the Boys more fleshed out from the perspective of "normal" supes just trying to make it through life. If there's one thing Gen V showed, its that this verse is filled with all kinds of potential, assuming they keep the quality high.
I was really worried this show wouldn't be great and would feel unnessecary. I loved it from start to finish , I honestly really enjoyed the cast of characters, their dynamics, and the way that your view of characters really changes throughout. In a lot of ways I really like its story and more personalized characters more than the boys.
Agreed. I think the boys does a great job with its character dynamics but what I would love to see more of is how the unique pressures of being a supe in this chaotic universe affects the more grounded characters. I also just love a show with a good group dynamic, and Gen V had one.
The hate the boys season 3 finale gets is insane to me. Butcher made a promise to becca, thats literally all that matters to him. Solider boy WAS going to kill ryan, and butcher decided to choose saving him over killing homelander. Thats character development. He realized becca would much rather have ryan alive than homelander killed. Everybody is just saying like “hes been trying to kill homelander forever and now he stops??” Yes. Literally yes. Thats a tough decision he had to make to realize revenge is not the right path. sometimes i worry about the messages y’all come away with from these tv shows. Sucks that andres’ actor from gen v died. On his way to film season 2 wrecks his motorcycle and dies. Talk about wrong place, wrong time. I hope they handle his death in universe like the MCU did with t’challa. Granted andres character wasn’t as big or important as the black panther but still. Just have it so homelander killed him off camera. Bc if they recast him I’ll just constantly be thinking about his old actor never able to fully enjoy the new actors performance. So I say write his death into the series then just get a whole new character to take his place. His and Marie’s stories were my favorite parts of gen v. Still excited for season 2 nonetheless.

Although I find soldier boys cameo funny, I think it kinda removed the intimidating nature he showed up with in the show. With the whole black noir story and how he kinda just fucked shit up during the season, the cameo just felt like he was a deranged side character who appears for a quick laugh. I just hope his character and ultimately the series doesn’t go marvel and overplay their hand because of the new mainstream appeal (I still love the funny soldier boy moments, I just don’t want that to become his whole character)
