This is because after a certain time they get dependent on them like a coping mechanism. This is how addiction (an illness) works and why criminals often fall back into crime even if they know it's bad for them. People like her need professional help and support system to get out of it. It's not so black and white.
Ashley is like the human Jinga tower, every day she removes a little bit more of herself and becomes more and more unsteady. She's a great character and a scene-stealer. I love Ashley's arc a lot.
I think Colby Minifie should do some voice acting roles in the future. There’s something about her energetic and bubbly voice that would be perfect for a comedic side character in a Disney XD show or something!

For as much of a pill of a human being that Ashley can be, I want her to do well for herself. Leave Vought, take a year long vacation in the Caribbean and become the agent for an indie film studio. She could take them to the next level with her marketing knowledge and the stress would allow her to become a much more calm, collected and pleasant person. She'd do incredibly well for herself and I'd call it a good move on the showrunner's part.

Ashley has morphed into such a menacing character that you forget she doesn't have any superpowers. Credit goes to Colby Minifie who absolutely nailed this role. I haven't read the comics but I think the natural progression of her character is to take Compound V and become a boss battle for The Boys.
Maybe its a hot take but after Anthonys performance as Homelander, i think Colbie as Ashleys is the best performer on this show alongside Giancarlo as Stan Edgar

Ashley is like a Hughie MKII for us, instead of being the average joe eye for us to see the superhero world through she is the businesswoman's and _self proclaimed_ "fuckin' girlboss's" eyes. Hughie if he joined them instead of beating them. Her struggles as the sole PR official for the Seven are somehow just as relatable as Hughie's disgusted reactions to everything her clients do, because of her emotional outbursts and personality traits _plus_ her *current* situation especially. She's my favorite character.
