Arranged, produced, filmed, performed, and edited by Geoff Castellucci. So much talent he does it all. Keep an eye out. He has something new coming out for Halloween.

For the pure theater of him singing with himself - Way Down is the BEST. His alter egos in that one actually are reacting to each other comedically - and if there's anything harder than doing multiple tracks and reacting to yourself - it's pulling off comedy while you're doing it. He's totally a pro.

This wasn't even all that low for Geoff, to be honest. He has a 5 octave range -- extending from A0 (lowest note on a grand piano) to A5 (the highest note most mezzo-soprano women can hit).

My favorite thing is watching reactors hear Geoff or Voiceplay for the first time, so glad you got on this so quickly. I had never seen the show, read the book, or heard the song before I watched Geoff do this. Didn't matter, because he is so, so talented. He has a new one coming in time for Halloween, not sure when exactly. But it will be great, guaranteed. His Headless Horseman and Monster Mash are both fun for the holiday too.
When it gets close to Christmas, be sure to react to his God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Trust me!

This remains my favorite of all of his solo works. He also does the instrumentation on these. He plays it on a keyboard and then uses programs that mimic other instruments. He is indeed a one-man band.
As a patron, I got to see the behind the scenes. He started out of course by recording everything vocally. Then came in as himself and acted out that portion. They used a stationary camera and the only crew was his wife and the make up artist. His wife Kathy operated the camera. Then he came in with his second person which I believe was either Fili or Kili. Sat in that chair and they filmed again with the rest of the chairs vacant without moving any chairs or the camera. They repeated the process as they went until they got to Thorin Oakenshield and he did his part. Watching the transformations was fascinating.
Up until the last few videos it has always been a stationary camera with only his wife as production crew unless it required special make up. It’s pretty phenomenal how he can react to himself, I believe he probably gets some vocal coaching from Kathy that one character or another is looking his way to so that he can react. But that’s pure speculation on my part.
In the others he does not have as much make up except for his Halloween offerings. So it’s like watching quadruplets or quintuplets performing together because they all look the same.
I love that you appreciated the brilliance of this. And I also love that you love the Tolkien series.
A totally different side of him is his cover of Elvis’s Way Down. The clones get a smaller part but are immensely entertaining. The name tags they were all represent different ways that people have misspelled or mispronounced his name.
When watching his videos put on closed captioning because sometimes there’s funny little remarks that he likes to put in there. That goes for VoicePlay’s videos as well. And always always always wait until the Patreon roll begins before you stop because sometimes there’s a surprise little epilogue.
He’s coming out with his Halloween offering soon. I have no idea what it is except that he looks really creepy. But his other two are just a lot of fun. He did the Monster Mash and he also did the Headless Horseman from a 1950s era Disney movie called the legend of sleepy hollow. Headless Horseman was done in his parents living room.
These guys have to do it all themselves because they don’t have a record label. And they are very adept at making something out of nothing. Sorry for the long comment but I’m always so thrilled to find somebody else who enjoys and appreciates the work that these guys do.

" It made my ears and nose itch!" 😂😂😂 I haven't heard anyone else say that! Cracked me up! Halloween is coming up so Geoff's versions of. " The Headless Horseman " and. " Monster Mash " are musts! Loved your reactions and don't be concerned about Jess's reaction to the low notes Mike. Just about every woman I've seen react to Geoff have the same reaction! Geoff and Voiceplay do some amazing things. What with Christmas approaching good ones to watch is "Oogie Boogie Man" and the "Hall of the Mountain King(which is brilliant). Voice Play and Home Free are good friends and often collaborate on arrangements, for instance Geoff arranged the Home Free/Oak Ridge Boys classic "Elvira". Peter Hollens(a master in the A capella world) and Tim Foust from Home Free also do an amazing rendition of " Misty Mountains" that's worth listening to.

Great reaction! Geoff is amazing! Another version of this song that you should check out is by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust (from Home Free). It's strictly a capella, and even though it's just the two of them, they made it sound like an entire choir.
Also, to add to my earlier Halloween recommendations, Geoff did a great "solo" cover of "The Headless Horseman".

Really enjoyed your reaction. I love the song too, even if I do not love the movie as much... I'm not a big fan of making movies out of such books as the Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, the books make your imagination trip and the imagery that results just can't be put in a movie. 🙂
About singing low... In Geoff's channel there is at least one tutorial-like video where he explains - teaches his techniques, you should give a look at it, it's worth the while. You can understand how much work, and dedication, and training, and technique there is behind his voice and his incredible performances. 🙂
About possible more videos from his channel to react to, I'd suggest Shenandoah, or Ain't no sunshine, before we get fully into Halloween season 😁.

    22:24 Hi Guys 👋
I just discovered Geoff Castelucci and Tim Foust today, and I can’t stop thinking that the two of them researched and even studied a little Tibetan Throat Singing.
These technique not only produces these deep gutural sounds but throat singers cam produce two notes simultaneously, one very high and the other very low. Check ou Bukhu Gamburged song titled Mother and Father

I was able to watch a BTS on Geoff's latest, The Rains of Castemere, where he also has multiple Geoff's on camera at a time. There's no one else where he's looking, he's just acting like there is. Then he does the other part, and has the video replay so he knows when to respond to the first character. All of the people in VoicePlay are quite good just as actors, in addition to their singing.
The thing about this song is that Geoff spends almost the entire song as the main singer in his lower register, but the 3 Geoff-tones in the background hit some pretty high notes in their harmonies.
If you want to hear Geoff imitate a Viking battle horn, watch VoicePlay's My Mother Told Me - he will knock your socks off!

I didn't see a BTS video for this one, but on other videos, he doesn't use stand-ins to interact with. He just maps it all out with his wife, Kathy, and then they roll. And he calls that last note his dragon breath.

All that you said and this man has a range of 5 octaves - from the bottom note on a piano, A0, to the A5 above the treble clef. Have you heard him do an Elvis cover of Way Down? It's fun. By the way, Geoff has some videos on how to sing really low. How to do the subharmonics which he does better than anyone.
With Halloween coming quickly: VoicePlay has a large selection of Halloween theme songs: Oogie Boogie Song, This is Halloween, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, Grim Grinning Ghosts, Friends on the Other Side, Superstition, Halloween Singers Go Psycho (wait for it), Phantom of the Opera, Queen in 5 Minutes, Once Upon a Dream, a trilogy: Trapped a Billie Eilish song followed by Panic at the Disco Parts 1 and 2. A combination Survivors: Zombies vs Hillbillies (VP and HF), Geoff solos, The Monster Mash, and The Headless Horseman. VoicePlay's newest offering is "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" full costume and staging, no words just amazing singing of a Edward Grieg symphony of "The Peer Gynt Suite". Peer Gynt came across the mountain trolls, King wanted him to become a troll himself and marry his daughter. Peer Gynt ran as fast as his legs could carry him. VP's version is definitely trollish but they singers are mixing up a concoction in a cauldron. Superb.

My younger sister has it bad for Geoff. She is a total sucker for a deep voice and my Neice knows it and often giggles when he is singing, and she is reacting. When this song first came out My evil little niece could not help but put it on. Of cores my sister rolled her eyes at the first deep note prompting my niece to make her unseal giggle then out of nowhere she says Mom your underwear just hit the floor, you should see to that. My poor Brother-in-law spit his drink out all over and was laughing like a fool, those two where on KP duty that night and My sister was giving a Dang good impression of Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey. As the only innocent on in the house that night I suffered from Spontaneous laughter for a year after. Don't hold it in, just a cautionary tail.

Geoff has a new one coming out this morning!
So this was a fun reaction. And if you want to see the process, Marwan Ayman does short videos of a capella buildups. I’m actually not 100% convinced it’s done in the order shown (he saves the lead for last so you can’t hear it all until the end, and I’m betting it usually goes the other way around, but…). th-cam.com/video/nFRLenH8cb4/w-d-xo.html. Marwan is 18 (might be 19 by now) and lives in Egypt. He’s part of The Bass Gang, but his solo covers are terrific.
    Thanks for checking this out!
