    I honestly think panic peaked too high with that first album imo they never managed to make anything close to Fever. And now that everyone left the band I doubt that making an album as good as fever is near impossible. I don’t know it’s just the whole vibe was so odd in a cool way. I also feel like to this day it doesn’t really sound like anything else out there.

      @@joshuafult84 I dunno, for me it worked because it sounded way way different from their previous sound that it was genuinely wild to see it back to back on a discography and I think the fact that the next album was steampunk-ish with a bit of victorian gothic style which then again created a hard wall between three albums was something else

    My respects, this is a really good video although I should mention something else about the split of the band in 2009.
    So basically Ryan and Jon were already planning to leave before the last pretty odd show. By that time they already knew something wasn't working. Afterwards they spent months barely talking about the new album so Ryan and Jon decided to sit down with the other two and speak about their situation. They came to the conclusion that the best thing for everybody was to split like they did. So to me it was a consensual decision made by all 4 of them.
    Here's the video of Ryan talking about this: th-cam.com/video/MgXC3Tlgeyw/w-d-xo.html

    for a very long time, my thoughts on whether panic was doomed from the start of not could've been mostly summed up as "a series of unfortunate circumstances". but then I learned about dallon not leaving the creative writing position of his own volition, and that it was just brendon who demoted him to touring member.
    so it was brendon's own decision.
    I feel like the guy is just....not fit to be in a band (that has other members in it) at all. he doesn't like to compromise, he hates when the spotlight isn't on him for a fraction of a second. I've read his official annotations on the genius article for "emperor's new clothes", it was pretty eye-opening. there he literally states, "i am panic at the disco". how much more explicit can you get?

    • @Anthony20603
      @Anthony20603 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems for everyone else except for Dallon was genuine, whether it be creative differences or Spencer who needed time to get better. It's still odd Dallon was demoted, unless part of the reason was because Dallon was getting ready to start idkhow but theres no other info. Brendons reasoning for saying that on the emperors new clothes apparantly cuz he was sidelined for a while and now it's just him, unless dude was being over the top just because, seeming from a lot of the old panic videos, tbf during too weird to live and the doab era was when Brendons ego seemed to be high before getting into the pray for the wicked album, but we will probably never know, and Dallon doesnt seem to want to talk abt it and move on with his project

    Very well put together. I have attempted to look this stuff up myself but got overwhelmed by all the strong options surrounding different band members and so many conflicting reports, so having your video recommended to me was a welcome surprise. An interesting update could be how P!ATD is officially disbanded now and how that came to be, but I suspect people would want that video to turn into a Brendon Urie hate video

    It should be noted that people aren't defined by their pasts but rather by who they shape themselves to be today. We shouldn't judge things Brendon has done several years ago and 2 decades ago. These were a few spiteful instances from a man whose prolonged career has been around since 2004. Brendon's made mistakes; we all have. We're all fundamentally flawed in some way as human beings who continue to live and grow but second chances should be given to everyone and we should allow for people to redeem themselves when they've made a mistake(s). Brendon's done an exceptional amount of good in this world. Back then that kind of humor was more accepted than it is now. Doesn't make it right but it makes it understandable. So while a lot of these things are in very poor taste, he apologized for all these things and has shown genuine character development. Almost- if not, ALL- of the stupid shit he's said or done was back early on in his career when he was dealing with a lot and used intoxicants.

      - 2011: The video which went viral with the clown music -> Well, when he said that, he suffered from alcohol problems and he apologized later in a periscope stream.
      - 2013: The vine where he mouthed along to a line with the n word in it -> Well, it was a vine and it wasn't him talking to anyone, it was just him mouthing along to a thing that someone else said.

    It depends on what you mean by PATD being "doomed." If you mean "doomed" in the sense of them staying together, you may very well be right given all the circumstances you carefully outlined. But PATD has gotten even more successful and popular over time notwithstanding the changes and the fact it's now a solo project. So in that sense, the band was never "doomed," but really has been on a steady incline since their inception.

    Do you think that they kept the band name because they signed a deal, (which we know, most deals with a label requires a certain "amount" of records released within a certain time frame), perhaps it would have been too costly to not "fullfil the bands legal obligation" via that contract? Could have bankrupt them all to take it to court and fight out of it, no one else would have signed them afterwards, it could have been detrimental to all of them either way they did this.

    • @taylorsquared
      @taylorsquared  ปีที่แล้ว

      Multi-record contracts are not as common on indie labels, and both DCD2/Decaydance and Fueled by Ramen fall under that umbrella. I find it unlikely that they'd be holding Panic! to a long record contract but not Fun. or Gym Class Heroes
