This is an epic song. The laid back travelling beat with the trains and vocals to die for. The dystopian NJ backdrop, the changing outfits, a timeless classic already.
Been playing this in my car for months. My 10yo daughter says, "I don't like it. I love it." And that I should put it on my Best of 2020 YT Playlist. Who am I to argue?
Is the fact that Nicole's channel only has a measly 3.52k subscribers testament to our superb musical discernment or sad witness that the rest of the world's musical taste is so abysmal? This track is definitely one of the highlights of the shit show that 2020 has been. But Nicole's been so incredibly talented with such a pure musical vision from her first album. It's sad that she doesn't have millions of subscribers. I like having her be a best kept secret weapon but she deserves to be heard by the rest of the world.
I've been asking myself the same thing for years. I've seen her perform live and she is very talented as are the musicians she works with. I dragged a musician friend to the Stone Pony to see her perform a few years and he was impressed. She really does seem to be the Jersey Shore's little secret which is somewhat bittersweet.
@@dr.zarkhov9753 I'm conflicted. For her and her label's sake, I'd love for her to enjoy the mass success and appeal that her incredible talent deserves. For my own selfish reasons, I like that she's relatively unknown, it means that she can work with the collaborators, artists and producers that SHE wants to work with instead of being pressured to work with Max Martin and clones to turn out drivel that's only popular with teen girls. I seem to gravitate toward artists who are relatively small/unknown and always have, there's just so much depth and nuance there that's obliterated if they make it huge because there is too much money on the line for them and their label, record company, manager, agent to not be pressured into turning from artists into product makers.
Daniel Brockett right? That’s what I was thinking... she hasn’t made it big because she apparently is not a sell out. I’ve just heard her for the first time (KXT in Dallas is good for revealing artists I’d never heard of or had forgotten.)
That is true. I follow her since her first album and every album. She is one of the most unrecognised singer but she is very unique. I saw her once live in Munich. Brilliant
@@TheAgeOfAnalog Along with the officially released version, I have a pre-release version of Neptune City that isn't as overproduced and is the version I prefer. (It also has a much better track order.) I have no idea why they decided to add additional production to the released version.
@@chrisnewpher I imagine the record label but will knows.there was a slight push back then to put her into the mainstream. I first heard of her through an American express commercial that played all the time.
I believe Italy is still suffering so much about coronavirus that we need to wait for the new Nicole Atkins album. The winter was so warm that we don't have any ice. It is a very good song, unique sounds and I love to play domino. :)
I have to laugh. I saw you open for Chris Isaak in Boca Raton, Florida years ago and someone had stolen all of your shoes. The Guccis are a good replacement. Glad to see a new album. Great song.
Ha! The Saucony Jazz Low shoes you had at the beginning of the video are dope. I just wore mine (same color, LOL) out finally last week and tossed them away.
this woman is obsessed with the materialism of the external world. If she lives long enough to lose her looks, she will grieve enough to seek the inner answer.
it is a kind of hypnotic programming in which she performs within the minuscule boundaries of pop-cool formula. Well, everyone's gotta make a living, I guess.
I think it's just a send up harmless little joke. The white shoes are very "stylish" from a certain past era/place, but once something is "retro" it can often become camp or "gay." On the other hand, her character may be just saying hey I like these white shoes, they look better than my track shoes....it's play.
91.7 brought me here, Absolutly amazing!
Best track of 2020. It's as simple as that.
Between this and Mind Eraser I'm not sure.
Might be right
YES!
First time hearing Nicole. I'm a fan. Love the beat, love the voice.
This is an epic song. The laid back travelling beat with the trains and vocals to die for. The dystopian NJ backdrop, the changing outfits, a timeless classic already.
And typical Jersey outfits. And yes that's a typical way outdated shitty Jersey train.
Goodbye Rhonda Lee is one of my favorite albums, and Italian Ice is insanely good. Can't believe it took me almost 2 years to listen to it.
Nicole Atkins and Sheryl Crow doing a duet.... 💥🌋💥🔥🔥🔥
Great tune. Parts of the lyrics is giving me a 007 feel....good luck to you Atkins
Mesmerizing, like a new drug.
I always gotta play it twice!
Gute Musik. Große Klasse!!!
She is amazing. So great to follow her evolving what has always been obvious. She is a great artist with a wit and great sense of humor. Love her!
Heard this on Radio 1 & Emerson College radio-great song!
WERS! Great college station!!
I discovered this song thanks to an Eastern Long Island radio station, 96.9. Now I'm totally hooked on her voice and music.
Ditto! One of my main source of new music, WEHM, 96.9 in the Hamptons / Montauk, 92.6 mid Long Island.
@@jdooley61 Same here
yup, jus great, A* for the talented Miss Atkins.
I just heard this randomly walking down the hotel hallway and had to find out what song this is! Dope!
Love this song, reminds me of rapture by blondie
Saw her in Red Bank 11/28/2021. First time. Been waiting to see her. Love her. She did this!!
Everything about this song & video makes me want to dance & hug
This is 2020, that's illegal. ;)
The lyrics are the depressing 2020 summed up, the beat is more 80s nostalgia r&b
This a whole vibe bruh why is it so underrated
.... That Wink @2:30 is just so.... Wow!
I love Nicole Atkins.. I mean love love
Easy
.....SLINKILY apocalyptic - following on the heels of "AM Gold" and especially "Mind Eraser", all three have a VERY 'Land That Time Forgot' vibe.....

Really cool song!
Banging tune and the whole album is amazing.
Really like this song.
Great production.
You're way ahead of the curve here Nicole - - timely release - - perfection!
Awsome!

so funky
Awesome track. NJ Strong!
I'm loving this tune!!
Song has hooks all over the place...coolness!
i still think that Neptune City is one of the most underrated albums of all time, but i'm glad that she's still doing amazing music.
The production and mastering is a little spotty on Neptune City, but it's still one of my favorite records of all time.

Asbury Park - paying homage to your roots.
Best video yet. Loving the vibe of the album already. Always quality content.

Very nice groove to this one - catchy!

Love it! Way to be Nicole.
Awesome! Congrats!!!
Will be on my playlist after all is said and done.
Super Brava!
Напоминает Fleetwood Mac. Отлично
At first I thought this was a Fleetwood Mac song too.
I have to laugh. I saw you open for Chris Isaak in Boca Raton, Florida years ago and someone had stolen all of your shoes. The Guccis are a good replacement. Glad to see a new album. Great song.

Great tune and colab by spoon’s Britt 👌👏🏼
💙⭐Magnificent⭐💙
Who are the 5 non likers? This tune is class 🥰🥰.
Kind of like a hip song from the urban 70s. She is one eclectic artist......
in a way it is very very good and in a way it is stupid, but that may just have been the producers.
reminds me of Venus by Shocking Blue
@@owen3721 Sorry, don't hear the similarity at all, but thanks for pointing me to that video.
I wanna take that NJ Transit train.

What’s the significance of the shoes and sign « make america gay again »?? Great song guiter is Sweet!!
Maybe from a time before the word 'gay' was hijacked and turned into an abnormality.
I'm not sure, but those are Succoni's. Pernounced suk-on-esse. I took it as an enuendo. If anybody knows better, please, do tell

Old school Succoni's. Tight! Lol
way to reach out there Nicole. I don't see Charlotte on the upcoming tour. Rats! Gotta wait until May for the release? double rats!
Amazing song. Heartbreaking video. Gary Mottola should be rotting in prison for what he did to that town.
