I REALLY enjoyed Alpha. I'd say I enjoyed the first region in the Steam version as well, although maybe not quite as much, up until I maxed out the first region. I definitely got discouraged finding out that I had to start from scratch again.
IMO losing the movement items is the worst issue, that really slows things down. But I almost never enter a new region with no equipment, I usually have a couple pieces of + gear that carry over.
@@Ickabodxx It's been so long that I can't really remember... So the + items carry over to the surrounding regions that touch the region they came from? Because I might actually jump back in and play some more, if that's the case.
@@TheDrunkardHu Yes they do. I have a Yellow weapon that I have used for the last 4 zones. Also, the villages reset their wares daily so you can shop to find + gear there. Which can be a little tedious, but it works. Usually, when I start a new zone, I have around a blue rating on both weapons and armor. If you get lucky in a zone you could be set up for a good start in multiple neighboring regions.

This game had been in my mind at least once a week for the past 8 years
If you don't compare it to the Alpha it's a pretty good game.
