VW Golf MKIV Water leaking in the Driver's foot well. Diagnose and Fix

This seems to be a common problem with these old VW cars. If your foot well carpet is wet after the rain, look under the dash. If the carpet under the pedals is wet too, or you can notice droplets coming from above, then remove the wiper arms, it's motor, windshield mask and check if the cable box is sealed.
If the water is leaking to the passenger side then check if the cabin filter housing is sealed.

You needed to take off the next piece of plastic as well (underneath the cover you already removed) that also has a seal on it that would have failed
If you had sealed that up too the leak would have been fixed

I don't know what you're talking about, but I sealed the cable box as shown and the leak was fixed. No more water in the car since this video.

I has same like u i open that box and i Put silicone under fuse and on midle i thinK i fix but ill see till Tomorrow

Hope it works for you. I applied it on edges and then sandwiched it together, which created pretty good seal. It's been years. No leaks since

The most times is prob at box seals u need to put some silicone and all clear

Yeah that's exactly what I did as shown towards the end of the video. No leaks anymore.

Couldn't you have used gasket maker or silicone caulking to reseal the cable box?

I could, but this was the fastest way to fix the problem. Just use that black sealing silicone I bought for this. Still seals very well.

my mk4 golf leaks water by the hood release latch , inside fuse box area , only when i wash tie car though it leaks inside .

If it leaks from there and not somewhere above, then it leaks through the hood release cable. It's same procedure. Remove the wiper arms and the cover, then with seal where the cable goes into the cabin with some silicone. It's close to that cable box that I sealed, in fact it's right next to it.

Well this was tricky to find. I tried to search my pc for words I can hear in video, but that failed. I actually had to power up that hp ipaq pda, that was playing the song in video. Anyway I found it, it's Klubhoppers rain! again Original radio mix. It's old, but it still slaps, just like my hx4700 pocket pc :) The genre is called handsup and if you like this type of music, there is a link to my playlist on my page(I have also added this track to it now).
