    Hi Corrinne. Hussiffs as I know them by, we're made for soldiers to take with them during the war. It it was used to hold all things they might need to help them sew on buttons and mend socks etc. Some men did embroider with the threads they had. I made a few of these hussiffs as sewing kits. Very easy and I made my last one with stump work on which I gave. away. I'm certainly going to make another in this new way with collage fabrics. Might use my Aussie fabrics I've purchased while being here on holiday. . Cant wait to get home to start.

    Thank you Corrine for your video. You sound so excited and ready to travel. Have a wonderful time ,I foresee so much laughter ahead. Your scarf came good in the end, just not as a scarf 😂 I love a good storage idea. Marion of Marions world has just made a Hussiff as a large needlebook. We all need something to store the varied needles and other notions that we use and I like that it is pretty as well. Great idea for securing your scissors. If there is a struggle for walnut shells lizzard litter works just as well and is so much cheaper.

    Was a terrific workshop I flew from WA and loved it. Will definitely be back to Green Door once I retire. Luckily was a long weekend in WA so had travel days. Love what you are doing with the sewing roll.

    Thanks corrine. Of all the things I made last year my jennifer pouch has been my most used and I agree the drawstring bag and a zippered section on the hussaf will be the ticket ..

    Can’t wait to see it finished. Your circle on the end for the pin cushion could be a Suffolk puff maybe.

    Hi from Canada 🇨🇦. My father was a construction worker, usually out of town jobs, and had a simple ‘housewife’, little roll with basics, including mending yarns for the work socks. Long time ago.

    Love your videos! Found you thru Roxy by Rachel and the trifold pouch. I’m looking forward to seeing your housewives. I was thinking about the one with the box - if the box was set towards the middle of your wrap then you could maybe roll up one side with your notions and tuck it into the box then attach a pincushion to the other end and roll it over the box to be the lid. Use a button and ribbon to close and you won’t be loosing any of your supplies. Do you think that is possibly?

    Hi Corrine, when I heard Rachel give you the challenge I laughed and thought yep Corrine is going to blow our minds with her thoughts and you have definitely done that 😜. The history behind hussifs is amazing and don't you just love reading all about them.
    Have a wonderful time here in Ballarat and will be looking forward to seeing and hearing all about the retreat. Happy stitching ❤

    Hi Corrine, I believe they are called ‘huswif’ sewing roll. I bought a pattern from Lisa Mattock her website but Lucello in Melbourne also sell her pattern. It was slow stitched and easy to follow. Have a great time creating this piece. cheers Anita 🧵🪡

    I hope you were able to get a good sleep after this video.
    Have fun in Melbourne, Hi to Susannah. I totally agree with your decision in switching the scarf to another project since it won’t be useful/ practical for you.
    Have fun! Safe ✈️ flight.

    At timeframe 12:59 you are showing your project that has a drawstring pouch in the center of it. The right and left sides of it with handles look like they could be a box. Without the handles and maybe without the zippers. Just one 1/2 of the bottom piece.

      @@carolreid9755 ok. Thanks. I even rang a nut shop to see if they had shells 😊

    • @Judith-wq2jp
      @Judith-wq2jp 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The best lizards litter is the brand, Zilla!, sold in pet supply stores.
      Uniform bits of crushed walnut shells, and I've filled many handmade pincushions with it.
      Just be sure to fill your pincushion far away from your sewing machine, you don't want the litter to fall down into the sewing mechanism. Very tough stuff. It's also used in winter car tires to give grip while driving on icy roads.
