I liked "Back to School". And his small part in "Natural Born Killers" was classic. But you should just watch a documentary on this man. He didn't get big until he was older. Remember it was the 70s and 80s, things were very different then. You could smoke in restaurants, the mall, and even in an airplane... But Check out Redd Fox, Rodney is rated "G" compared to Redd...Of course there is Richard Pryor.....

Rodney is a classic. You should really check out some of the older comedians from the 70s and 80s. Just about anything went. Definitely check out Don Rickles. One on the best insult comedians ever. But he said, If I'm not insulting you, that's when you know I don't like you. Classic. Also Andrew Dice Clay. One of the heaviest ever using mannerisms and character. Shocked a lot of people in the day. Would again today also considering the woke PC atmosphere.

Mr Dangerfield was also a great Father. He did well but could have made more money but chose to do shows close to home to be with and raise his daughter. Her Mother as I remember had passed. Van, I wrote Rodney one time and he actually wrote back! It was short and sweet, but he cared enough to do it. He was troubled with depression almost his entire life, and I wrote him when it became very public… he was very appreciative. What a great guy! RIP Rodney! 🙏❤️😋
It's one thing to have that many one-liners stored and to be able to stitch them together, but to be able to hit the delivery and timing perfectly even during his talk with Johnny and Ed. Practice and skill are the only things that will allow somebody like him to do it as long as he did . Dude was One of a Kind for sure. And also you caught it quick! That is one of the mannerisms you will see every impersonator try to do,, grabbing at his collar and shaking his head, along with his "I get no respect" line.

The thing he did with the tie thing I think it started out being a nervous took at first and he just Incorporated it into his bit, Rodney Dangerfield has the quickest but most hilarious deliveries, he's probably one of the most timeless comedians, what I mean by that is he can say the shortest joke the quickest and you still remember it hours later, and it's just as funny as when he delivered it. He was definitely a comedy genius, cuz some of the jokes hit past but some of the jokes are like oh wait a minute that was hilarious.
The fixing of his tie was part of who he was. I remember seeing him on TV when I was young. It’s a time I miss when you could find the humor in things and not be obsessively offended. You laughed because they were jokes! I miss those years.📺

So many old vaudeville comics that were on TV in the early days (1950>) knew how to read an audience pace their timing. These are the people who defined "performer" and "entertainer" and most did it without a word of profanity or obscenity. On stage in smaller clubs, they really let go there. Lenny Bruce, Mort Saul and Carlin took the turn toward politics and lost a lot of the artistry.

He once said he had at least 5 jokes for every situation in life, and he had them ready whenever the occasion called for them. No matter the subject, Rodney had a joke on the tip of his tongue. Even by that time, Rodney was already a legend. In the 80's he had HBO specials from his club "Dangerfield's", where he basically launched the careers of many now-famous comedians. Check out the movie "Caddyshack" for Rodney's greatest performance. That movie wouldn't have been the same without him.

I always loved Rodney when I was a kid in the 80's, and watching him as an adult is even better. I'll always remember sneaking and watching his special on HBO, after my parents were in bed, and seeing him introduce Sam Kinison.

Years ago ( in the 80’s) my brother and I saw him live...... he was hilarious! I remember some college kids in the front row threw a blowup doll on the stage, without missing a beat he kicked it back into the audience and said “ yeah I saw your date , so what!” The audience lost it!

Saw Rodney in Vegas, he was at least 80, and was still funny as hell. Fell out of my chair in tears!
Van, I wrote Rodney one time and he actually wrote back! It was short and sweet, but he cared enough to do it. He was troubled with depression almost his entire life, and I wrote him when it became very public… he was very appreciative. What a great guy! RIP Rodney! 🙏❤️😋

It's one thing to have that many one-liners stored and to be able to stitch them together, but to be able to hit the delivery and timing perfectly even during his talk with Johnny and Ed. Practice and skill are the only things that will allow somebody like him to do it as long as he did . Dude was One of a Kind for sure.
And also you caught it quick! That is one of the mannerisms you will see every impersonator try to do,, grabbing at his collar and shaking his head, along with his "I get no respect" line.
Watch the movie Caddyshack some time, Rodney has a lot of great one liners in it. Bill Murray and Chevy Chase are also pretty hilarious.

The thing he did with the tie thing I think it started out being a nervous took at first and he just Incorporated it into his bit, Rodney Dangerfield has the quickest but most hilarious deliveries, he's probably one of the most timeless comedians, what I mean by that is he can say the shortest joke the quickest and you still remember it hours later, and it's just as funny as when he delivered it. He was definitely a comedy genius, cuz some of the jokes hit past but some of the jokes are like oh wait a minute that was hilarious.

The fixing of his tie was part of who he was. I remember seeing him on TV when I was young. It’s a time I miss when you could find the humor in things and not be obsessively offended. You laughed because they were jokes! I miss those years.📺

So many old vaudeville comics that were on TV in the early days (1950>) knew how to read an audience pace their timing. These are the people who defined "performer" and "entertainer" and most did it without a word of profanity or obscenity. On stage in smaller clubs, they really let go there. Lenny Bruce, Mort Saul and Carlin took the turn toward politics and lost a lot of the artistry.
Old school humor. Nothing was off limits and fairly clean language. We used to watch him on Johnny Carson as a kid. The good old days!

It’s called good old fashioned comedy. It was during a time when mostly everyone wasn’t so wrapped up in themselves and taking every last word said by everybody personally.
Back in the day when we could laugh at ourselves without people getting their feelings hurt.
When people understood COMEDY and knew how to laugh!
Rodney is the legend of the legends. His comedy was born from the pain of his own childhood. But he made sure his children had everything they needed. He provided an avenue of discovery for up-and-coming comedians through his connections and his own club called Dangerfields which hosted a ton of now well-known comedians. Dangerfields closed in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic after 50 years of operations.

His family treated him so very badly and comedy was the only light in the tunnel to guide him. He constantly thought up and wrote down new material and kept every scrap of paper he wrote on for it. I loved "Easy Money" especially....
It seems a lot of comedians are privately depressed, Jim Carrey, Rodney Dangerfield, also tragic ending of Robin Williams. Wonder why that is, impressions from watching them would make you think they are the funniest people to be around but in reality they're very unhappy 🤷♂️

This is the Great Rodney Dangerfield, King of the "one liner" joke. He passed way a few years ago. He once said he had at least 5 jokes for every situation in life, and he had them ready whenever the occasion called for them. No matter the subject, Rodney had a joke on the tip of his tongue. He was amazing.

Rodney is one of the all time greats and classics in comedy! And he had a helluva nack for playing over-the-top, overbearing, loud and annoying movie characters. Caddyshack was one of my favorites he was in, and my favorite character in that movie! God bless him and all true comedians that don't give af about "offending" anyone, don't bow down to weenie SJWs, and that find and share the honest humor found in every ethnicity, stereotype, gender, etc. "Equal Opportunity Offenders", as I call them... everyone's fair game!

I saw Rodney Dangerfield live at a dinner club show many, many years ago, and I never laughed so hard in all my life. Unforgettable.

I always loved Rodney when I was a kid in the 80's, and watching him as an adult is even better. I'll always remember sneaking and watching his special on HBO, after my parents were in bed, and seeing him introduce Sam Kinison.

Rodney in Caddy Shack was great. His shtick was "I can't get no respect". In the old days, Johnny Carson Show was on late at night and was hugely popular. The next morning, the first thing we'd ask at work was "Did you see Johnny Carson last night"? Some of us couldnt always stay up that late.
Years ago ( in the 80’s) my brother and I saw him live...... he was hilarious! I remember some college kids in the front row threw a blowup doll on the stage, without missing a beat he kicked it back into the audience and said “ yeah I saw your date , so what!” The audience lost it!

That was a time when people could laugh and didn't look for a reason to be offended at things. No malice was meant and people knew there was nothing serious behind the jokes because they were just jokes. The w o k e crowd wants to kill comedy by censoring what we say so the whole world can be as humourless, miserable, shallow and self-repressed (oppressed might be a better word) as they are. The fix to that is this... just laugh.
Appreciate every word of his that has been recorded for you to enjoy. It took Rodney Dangerfield many, many years to get a break. His childhood was terrible. His struggle was real. He never gave up because this is what he was destined to do. And he is one of the funniest of all time. "I don't get no respect" was his tagline.
