*YOUR REACTION WAS PRICELESS, & MADE ME FEEL THE SAME WAY I DID THE 1ST TIME I HEARD THIS* I am so jealous, that you are just discovering the wonder, that is Angelina Jordan!!! You are truly in for the ride of your life 😊 I am often at a loss for words, when trying to describe Angelina Jordan's voice, or what genre she fits in, & I have accepted, she does not fit in any category, or genre, & is simply in league all of her own.....❤ 💚 💜 Every time I hear Angelina sing, I picture her stepping out of an old black & white movie, to transport us back in time, so we can fall in love with these genuine masterpieces again!
Not bad for a 9 year old. Take a fifties classic song by Screaming Jay Hawkins, arrange the music and then sing like a 40 year old jazz singer. This girl is a gift to us all. Welcome to Angelina's world.
I start my day with her while drinking my coffee. Every day since allmost 9 years now. And at least every other day she manages to make me cry. She is imo the best singer on the planet. I am 71 y old and have never heard a singer like her in my whole life. Her voice touches my heart and cleanses my soul. Greetings from Germany.
For I Put A Spell On You - Angelina was 9 years old - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes "her wishes" and it is read by the recording producer/engineer. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. The spoken language is Norwegian: th-cam.com/video/80f3t3dmBbk/w-d-xo.html
To your point...there is a video of her working with these same musicians on another Jay Hawkins song, Portrait of a Man (she called her version Portrait of a Child). They called her "the boss." With great affection. I have seen several reactors who are musicians or producers be quite shocked by her control and professionalism.
Hi Alan, the arrangement is hers based on the original by Screaming Jay Hawkins from 1956, by the way she has always done her own arrangements since the beginning, that's why the bands affectionately call her "Boss" they all like playing with her because she is very respectful but also determined towards the musicians, it is done the way she wants it
I first discovered Angelina 4 years ago and have followed her every day since. At each age probably from when she was 10, I would wonder how it would even be possible for her to get any better. Then I see her a little older and I wonder again. She recently covered her own song "Bad Valentine". The original version was fantastic, but her jazzy cover of it is beyond magnificent. And once again I wonder "how is this even possible".
For anyone that has watched Jay Hawkin's original, this tribute to him by a barely 9-year old that arranged this performance herself is mind-blowing. Angelina's version is more melodic and has no shock-rock moments, but the way this little prodigy managed to pay honest tribute to this wild song is nothing less than spectacular.
Angelina's mother Sara reportedly said that since she was eight, it was like living with a tiny adult in the house. You will love the book, keep in mind that much of it was taken verbatim from her diary at age 6. AGE SIX! I was astounded at the profound thoughts she expressed in the story. It's very emotional, I often get choked up when reading it. Enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to more Angelina on your channel.
Alan, by all means it's okay to skip around. What you will find remarkable is after you listen to something she has recorded recently you may think it will affect something she recorded when she was younger, much younger. Forget that idea. Example: Whatever you listen to when she was 16-17-18 years old will be wonderful. And then, if you go back to when she was 8 years old and she sang 'What A Difference A Day Makes' at an outside gathering of thousands of people with a live band and adult backup singers, well, I think you know where I'm going. In essence, Alan, you're listening to an artist who interprets the message of love in a song and with her soulfulness she is able to convey the feeling of love to you with her voice and, I know this sounds crazy, but her age doesn't interfere with any of that. She captures us and we travel with her into a space where nothing else matters except listening to her sing 'for us'. Yes, she doesn't sing to us, she sings 'for us'.
A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. In the band, she was called a boss
At the beginning of the video you see her writing notes on a price of paper. Apparently the band director said that they were her last minute “wishes”. Basically some changes to the arrangement.
This is the most astonishing video I've seen this century. I knew she was good after seeing her NGT performances, but after wondering how a child could even have heard of this song, I said to myself 'Oh c'mon, Are you kidding me?'. She was NOT kidding.! Angelina is the best, no question. 😎
At this age she already has professional mindset. Walks in gives them notes of changes she made and sings like that and then leaves. They nicknamed her' the Boss'
Excellent review and reaction, Alan. Looking forward to your reactions to the some 200+ covers and originals that are lying in wait for your next. Angelina will continue to amaze both as a person, and her very obvious talent as a singer.
Not bad for a 9-year-old who made the arrangement for this performance. And by the way, Angelina was not looking at the camera as you suggested, but at the band.
I can't tell how many times i saw her exceptional Masterpieces. It's like watching some Masterpieces of fine Art. Everytime you will discover other details and understand it, when you know then the background Story of the Artist. After watching many of her Videos again and again, and been stunned every time i realized that its obsolete to ask "how in the world is this possible". It is like it is, you can't explain Genius 😇❤ thank you, looking forward for more.
Start with her 4 performances from Norway got talent in 2014. She was seven years old when that started and she won at eight years old after these performances jump back-and-forth to her most recent and then back when she was younger
She will continue to surprise you no matter how you listen and whichever way you listen, I'll be watching! She's a wonderful artist and an even more wonderful human. Have fun!
I think the best way to follow her journey is to jump all over the place. It's impossible to go chronological. Many have tried, none have succeeded. Curiosity will get you. What does she sound like now? Rest assured that no matter the order, you will never be disappointed;) You can listen to 18 yr old Angelina then 8 yr old and be amazed and vice versa. It's not just the voice, the emotion she evokes, etc, but also the person she is;)
Do whatever pleases you sequence wise. Everything she has done is great. The only thing you will find whether current or older is sometimes the recording is from a cell phone and she still shines through, but we all would prefer proper recordings of it all. Enjoy.
Am subscribing. You look younger than your insight and knowledge of the music of an earlier era. I'm 70+. It was the comparison of Angelina to Judy Garland that prompted me to subscribe and write a comment. I've been waiting for someone to mention this. I also appreciate the mention of the Doo Wap era and how the entertainment industry of Judy's time treated their stars as products, regardless of any long term effects on their lives. Drugs, plastic surgery, abortions, payoffs to 'catch and kill' journalist to kill stories of stars being pregnant, gay, etc. You're right, the entertainment industry of old did wrongfully ENHANCE their stars, burn them out, then spit them out. The only exception, who DIDN'T get screwed somehow was Shirley Temple, although she was wrongly exposed, early in her career. The main thing is, she did get out of the business and lived a normal, fruitful and happy life. Judy wasn't as lucky, but she was more TALENTED. By 15, Judy sang in 'Broadway Melody of 1938' and sang one of my favorite songs, 'You Made Me Love You', a song she actually sang to Clark Gable at his birthday party. Looking forward to more of your reaction videos. Good luck with your channel! Every now and then, ENLIGHTEN the younger generation with the older classics and give your perspective of the old with what's being played today.
Thank you for the young 😊 I’m 60 , and my folks dragged me up on the classics of thier era , plus I’ve always just loved to listen to everything and I’m lucky enough to be able to store information , not all of it useful 😂. To your point , yes I will be using the Chanel to walk down memory lane 😎 thank you for sharing your knowledge and insight 👍
She wasn't following an arrangement from the producer. It was her arrangement. In the beginning when she was writing on the paper, that was her notes on the arrangement. The man reading her notes was the director
There is a video of her rehearsing "Portrait of a Man". There is an enhanced version with subtitles but the original has been removed and I can not find an isolated version. I will leave you a link to a reaction of it and if you wish you could read them with no sound so you know what she is telling the band members as she is giving some instructions during these. Perhaps someone is aware of an isolated copy of this and will send you a link. Just fyi the opening video is of her rehearsal of "Le Boheme" and is heartwarming and my favorite "video" of her.
Thank you, I really enjoyed your comments. One thing I want to mention is that when you saw the musical director at the beginning looking at a score, he was looking at Angelina's "wishes" for changes to the arrangement. You still see a young girl, but pretty soon the sheer scale of her talent will obscure all that. What next? Maybe Feeling Good with the Livestream Tilbake, at age 10. Maybe Fly Me To The Moon for the opening of Quincey Jones' 85th birthday concert when she was 12, or maybe Million Miles, her own song, from when she was 14. Just a suggestion.
I tried to listen chronologically, and I pretty much did, but my curiosity got the better of me, and I did listen to new ones as they came out, then went back to chronological order. I think you should listen to whatever calls to you at the time. There is no right or wrong order in my opinion. They are ALL mandatory listens and you will appreciate them whatever you choose to do. I'd recommend the Norways Got Talent next.
Angelina Jordan got to you. that's it. She has got to all of us. You have become an angel and I guarantee you will follow her journey from when she was just in the crib at one and a half to 6:to 8: to 10: to 12 to 16 now at 18 years od and has griwn into a young, beautiful woman and a global superstar with so much talent, it just oozes out of her. Yes, she is a child prodigy and a musical genius from a very young age. She was able to mimic the great Blues artists of the past through her wonderful grandmother Mery playing these songs for her since she was a baby and if she was able to garner all these wonderful vocals into her own voice becoming her own unique person and can gravitate to any one of these great artists anytime she wants to and it's just is in her DNA. She is Jazz influenced and basically runs through her veins. I want to thank you for continuing your wonderful Journey with Angelina Jordan. All the Angels all over the world. appreciate your channel and I guarantee will follow you. Keep posting my friend. Only another 300 covers in originals to go. And you are much appreciated by the TH-cam community. Have a great day. Sending much thanks from Canada ! 👍🇨🇦❤️
I loved every part of your reaction to Angelina Jordan from A to Z. What a breath of fresh air! Definitely lookin' forward to your next reactions...! 😊 All the very best from Germany
Alan, I greatly enjoyed your reaction and analysis. I am posting my comments 22 hours after your uploaded this video and there are already 166 comments. Angelina's angels (fans) are highly passionate about Angelina's music and who she is as a human being, very humble and empathic. I learned about her 4.5 years ago and her music improved the quality of my life more than I can express. The major improvement was, her music allowed me to properly grieve the loss of loved ones. It took some months of listening but she broke down the huge wall I had constructed.
Allowing yourself to heal and being braced enough to share that story 😊 I can’t add more but I can and will promise that I will always try to be honest 😊👍
@@alan-reacts65 I had always preferred to listen to rock, but listened to a wide variety of music in my life. Angelina came into my life when I needed her music the most. A couple months later, I learned of The Warning, a rock power trio of 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. All 3 sisters are prodigies and now at ages 24, 22 and 19, just completed their tour to support their 4th album. Here is a link to the first video I watched. th-cam.com/video/E62SVvLw9FI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=irq4xIvZoZvBHrzE
From what I have gathered, she largely acts as her own producer. In the studio she is known as "the boss". At the opening of this video you see her putting the finishing touches on the arrangement and the band directors reaction to it. Absolutely a phenomenal talent ! I am so happy that my life and her life had some overlap and that I am able to witness this before I die. I have been involved with music on both sides of the glass for over 60 years and have watched the decline of the music industry. This gives me hope.
Ive had my involvement in the development and production process but I stepped away , good producers will always get the best from an artist , I listened to Rick Reuben who basically said “ I’m not an expert but I can tell what works and what’s next “ that’s a huge paraphrase, but if AJ is fostering that environment, she will at the very least have the ability to make music she wants 😎 thank you for sharing and getting me to ramble 😂👍
@alan-reacts65 yup most of all her songs is her arrangement. Or she tells the musicians how to she wants it played by making the sound with her mouth. By 11,12 she started composing her own, starting with my all time favorite song "What is Life" the live acoustic will take you to a place of peace!
Love that last note. Just hop around and enjoy. She has so many amazing videos, but not everything is amazing. But she does have a few dozen songs that are the reason she became pretty famous. Some are the best versions of a particular song Like "Bang Bang" on NGT. She outsings Adele doing Adele. Not because she's louder, It's her phrasing and emotional maturity. Like this song, She understood the assignment! It's a little over the top (unless you've heard/seen Screaming Jay's version.) but her devotion and professional demeanor is remarkable. She sounds like a child, but has the ear for understanding the artist she covering. Like a child with 40 years of experience. Her ability to edit a song is another thing she excels at. Her biggest challenge...being a singer during a time when the world is into mindless, dancing performances. Some...many... like that current trend. Most older people were exposed to remarkable artist for decades. We have an ear for true talent. We were lucky to grow up during that timeframe. Because of that, she's loved by older people. True music heads.
I’m very wrll versed on the song and the original and I agree because us older heads have experienced more music we can or we maybe can differentiate dross from good .. I’m definitely going to enjoy my time on this journey and yes I’d be suspicious of anyone who says all 200 songs are so amazing .. but I hope to at least find out 😊
Great observations and comments Alan. This young artist is a once in a generation talent. She often performs songs that are well beyond her lived experience but she is able to convince the listener that she has been there. It’s a gift she shares with the world. I recommend you jump between current and young AJ. It would take too long to go chronologically. Enjoying your journey. Thanks.
Dirk 😊 it seems to be the consensus of you guys here in the channel that going along chronological is to much but going backwards to present works for all .. I hope so because it’s most likely the way I will go forward 😊👍
@@alan-reacts65you can learn so much from her NGT VIDEOS because all four judges understand what a gift Angelina is. Therefore I strongly suggest that you make sure to watch each performance completely through. Make sure to listen to videos WITH SUBTITLES. Please, the judges comments are crucial as are Angelinas responses. By the way Angelina has preformed in GREAT BRITAIN many times. For Quince Jones’ birthday singing Fly me to the moon at the o2 arena at 12 years old. Amazing performance.
Hello Alan, very interesting reaction, with certain considerations that other reactors don't go into. The part that I would like to address is that of course there is no way to go through over 200 songs in total chronological order to try to get into what this prodigy is all about. What I would suggest is that you do it on the chronological level, but in a way that expediates the experience. What I would suggest is that you pick at least two songs from each year of her development two songs from when she was 8, two songs from when she was 9, two songs from when she was 10, and so on. Now that way you would be exposing yourself, and going on what would be surely a wonderful journey without the taking a year to do so. Doing it in a way that I am suggesting would let you see her development, and as she begins to grow because she literally will in front of your eyes get better, and better, and better as she develops her talent. The first thing you might appreciate is that as a child she is literally the one who is forcing and working on her development. This in itself shows a very sophisticated approach to her own personal development, and it is astounding. I have a few suggestions on some of the songs and the order of her development though as you go through the journey there may be things that will catch your eye that you might want to listen to. Initially I don't think it's good to go from her young start to where she is now because that is missing the astounding stages of her development, and I do mean they all are astounding. One of the main things you'll see about this young artist is her absolute courageousness, and how she attacks her art of performing. She is fearless in the things that she will push herself to try because it always turns out in her accomplishing, and moving to the next level in her art. Here are some chronological suggestions of the songs that show her development through her younger years. And I would strongly suggest that you go through some of those before you move on to where she is now because believe me her journey is absolutely as impressive as her destination of where she is now. Alan you’re great! You really do know you’re subject..that’s clear to see..because of this I’m certain that within a short amount of time you’ll fully begin to appreciate the sheer genius that is Angelina Jordan. Subd for the journey.
This is in my opinion the BEST rendition of this song ever. Truly an unmatched vocalist and the best on any stage today. No autotune all natural magic. Empress of jazz Angelina Jordan!
Angelina actually arranged this rendition herself, she is paying tribute to Hawkins, Angelina is commanding this performance she is the boss,Angelina arranges all her own performances, great reaction thanks 🙏
Great reaction! This version is hands-down my favorite of all the great versions, including the original. Angelina's emotional authenticity comes from deep within and is amazing to listen to. I'd say enjoy her music however you want, in the order you want. :)
As to how to approach her...there is no right way. But with your knowledge and expertise, l would do one of her performances each year chronologically because you clearly will be able to comment on her phenomenal growth as a musician.
I’ve been following Angelina for about six years. She is easily the best popular singer I’ve ever heard. And she is the best across many different genres, as you’ll see. There have been dozens of reactors who discover young AJ and say they are going to go chronologically. It doesn’t work. Angelina has so many incredible songs before age 10 that reactors can’t wait to hear her later songs. And when Angelina turned 10, her vocal ability exploded. You forget you’re listening to a very, very young child. The good news is that it doesn’t matter how you approach this. By title, by age, by genre-it’s all incredible. AJ is a jazz singer in her bones, and you’ll see that influence in many of her songs. Pick whatever you like, but my list of favorite Angelina songs has always included her America’s Got Talent performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. Her arrangement, her vocals, her emotion are just stunning. Watch what she can do at 13. Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/qF0JV28vgLw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7KaTnl0Za8xhQbh3
IMO, she is a Prodigy, because only a Prodigy can Mimic such great artist at the tender age of 9 and younger. I said 2 years ago that she was mimicking Scream'in Jay and got backlash for it. And then they heard what I had heard and apologized. It takes great talent to Mimic somebody and do it in their own way. And that is why I say Prodigy AND Mimic, both. Great Post
@@donnilloyd1355 You'll get by better with "emulate." It conveys sophisticated recreation from a new POV. When she emulates, she respects, pays tribute and sometimes improves while putting her own stamp on the music. I wish there was an even better word, but here we are.
Allan! Wow! I really like you man. I’ve been following Angelina for a number of years now and began to get tired of the reactors because I couldn’t connect with their platform. But you have revived me. You’re not putting out any pretences or useless talking points you’ve found a wonderful balance in your reactions. You’re pure in your interaction with us. Angelina is off the charts incredible as are her whole family. Thank you sir for your much needed contribution 🙂♥️
When I started my little channel it was with one idea , talk to one person and if its honest then that’s enough 😊 I always have the same idea say what I see and hear , I try to make it interesting for me as much as possible and if that makes sense to other music lovers then I’m happy 😊 thank you for your very kind words

There is a wonderful video where Angelina is jamming with the band on another j Hawkins song called portrait of a man. You will get an answer to your question how she works with the world class musicians. Angelina reimagined the song with the title portrait of a child. Loved your reaction to IPASOY IN Every aspect and I’m really happy you found Angelina. She is an important and true artist of the highest order. My opinion. I love all her originals and we are getting close to 20 originals already and she is only 18 years old. Amazing child. Thank God for her incredible family, especially her mother Sara and grandmother Mery. Peace out and enjoy the ride.

Great, thanks! It's fine to jump around different ages, just don't neglect her offerings before 2016 and earlier because she's phenomenal in every one of them. I actually like the stuff before last January better than what's been released this year. Go figure...
I liked your reaction i think its good to get an appreciation of Angelina's development but also i think you need to hear how she sounds now and also experience her exceptional talent for song writing
Thank you for your insightful reaction and comments. Although you may have seen some of this, it never hurts to review. Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became one of the youngest ever vocalists to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest jazz recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which is only her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 18, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, Even though she may not have experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records when she was 14. She was not widely promoted for a few years, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, things have changed since she graduated school in the past year. She released two original music video singles from Republic Records, Love Don't Let Me Go, and Now I'm the Fool, coinciding with her new six song EP called Old Enough. She performed two shows in Las Vegas in February, and also performed Unchained Melody at the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo last December. She performed in Los Angeles in September. She is currently working with Toby Gad, a multi Grammy award-winning producer and composer, and has released two songs. If I were a boy, originally by Beyoncé, and Bad Valentine, which was officially released at her September 20th concert in LA. We believe a world tour could be in the making to coincide with the release of an album. Here is a semi-chronological TH-cam playlist for Angelina of over 200 songs, beginning with 16 performances including originals, her EP, and a few specialty songs. Then it starts chronologically beginning with Gloomy Sunday from Norway's Got Talent. th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc.html&si=HrEm55lV164yKJqu Here is an extended playlist of approximately 400 performances compiled and categorized, thanks to mosttodo10. th-cam.com/video/IxPiumYD_r0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=anjDyUnXdkPjCEf0 Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may makes many people emotional. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even stated at 8 years old that she would be donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing a special bond. Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. She is a messenger of love, light, and hope, wrapped in a blanket of humility. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world to spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. I'd include the link, but TH-cam removes comments with non-TH-cam embedded links. /book The English version is only available in digital format and is sometimes unavailable. It was when I checked the first time, but then when I checked back, I was able to purchase it. I can understand why the printed version might be sold out, but not why the digital version isn't always available. I've been told that some people have been able to order the hard copy through their bookstore, but it is not in English.
Thanks for that suggestion. I agree. I actually have owned the digital version for three or four years now. The hard copy was being discontinued as I think the store was closing. I have heard rumblings that the printed version is available again But I don't know for sure.
Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
❤ Well reacted. Like your honesty. Good of you to notice Jay H and share the history. ☺️👏🏼 Look forward to your next. Sooner or later you need to react to her rendition of another Jay Hawkins song “Portrait of a Man (child in her case). That is a jam session practice that you wanted to hear and see. It’s the same band and you’ll see why they call her the boss. Oh, and it’s JH’s best song in my view. I’m onboard, following you and I’m an Angel. 😊
I think you should jump around & listen to songs that you know & like at various ages, as well as her originals. The chronological thing is great, but it just takes too long & meanwhile she keeps dropping new originals & covers. When you were speaking about child singers like Judy Garland, she came on the scene with World-wide acclaim at the age of 16. Angelina did that at 7! If the Elvis song you are reacting to next is Suspicious Minds, she is 16 in that, for comparison. I recommend you listen to her latest release of her original song, Bad Valentine, that she co-wrote & performed with songwriter/producer/ pianist Toby Gad. The original version is more in the style of a power pop song that is amazing, but the Piano Diaries version is very jazzy/bluesy that is very melancholic, nuanced & emotional. It's a Masterpiece & many "Angels," including me, think it's her best performance, to date. th-cam.com/video/6Ln9Tajsuzk/w-d-xo.html
I wouldn't say that Angelina mimics other artists... she more takes inspiration from their works and adjusts them to what she believes will make them better or at least her version.
Lots of folks have commented the same , one was “ she emulates “ I think at this early stage I can say that at the very least “ she’s not bland “ not indistinguishable from the plethora of other artists in this era ?
@@alan-reacts65 She's definitely distiguishable from most of the current artists, and she has truly grown into her own style as opposed to her younger self.
I think that you should jump around in the years, listening to Angelina. There are just too many great songs that she has released in the past two or three years to wait an entire year or two to listen to them.
I wish you could react To her singing I Who Have Nothing when she was 6 years old. There were a few who covered it, one being Tom Jones. It shows her talent and range even then. Love your reaction!!!
I love to research what I don’t know ( which is a lot 😂) but I do genuinely listen to lots of music from multiple genres, thank you for your kind words I’m genuinely grateful ☺️
I just subscribed to your channel my friend. Angelina is the only vocalist I listen to now. Everyone else is just mediocre. Even Adel as great as she is doesn’t give me the emotional feeling when I listen to her. I am a 69 year old male and Angelina brings me to tears when she sings. Angelina covers some Adel songs that in my opinion are better than Adele’s version! I am not crazy. Thanks for your wonderful reaction to our Princess Angelina.
Thank you ☺️ for information check in tomorrow I’ve got a song that’s originally a Dylan song covered by Adel and then by a really talented British singer , you may well know it but I like it .. as for AJ I’ve got a double coming soon 😊👍
Anyone doing an Angelina review will immediately attract subscribers. It's just a well known fact. I myself enjoy seeing people react to the first time hearing her.
Her grandma documented much of the early years, including backstage. Here's an early rehearsal, I think for NGT: th-cam.com/video/BSm-oMgVCo8/w-d-xo.html That channel is her Grandma's and has plenty of backstage clips.
@@alan-reacts65 Boston, MA. I didn't know there was a Boston in the UK. I should have realized it. We have every other UK city name here in the US. I'm looking forward to your next AJ review. Thanks.
@ it’s in Lincolnshire which is known as the flatlands 😊 Google Lincoln cathedral it’s magnificent 😎 and I’m pulling together a shortlist for my next AJ reaction .. something a little different in my approach I think 🤔 😎
@@alan-reacts65 I just watched your 'Spell' review of AJ, again. Your facial reaction when you saw AJ holding the candle with Jay Hawkin's photo reminded me of a comment I meant to make yesterday when I saw your review of her Suspicious Mind performance. There's a behind-the-scene video of AJ moments before the actual video starts. Just off camera from her there's a small table and on it a framed photo of Elvis. AJ has great respect for those who came before and inspired her. I loved your Suspicious Mind video, as well. Thanks for the info on the UK's Boston. I'll check out that cathedral. I'm a photographer and love old architecture. Thankfully, we have a lot of it here in my Boston, too....though not as much as over there! I was there in 1983....saw London, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Stonehenge and Bath. I still have hundreds of photo slides from the trip. Until next time!
@ you have absolutely visited some of the great gems we have , I’m also photography obsessed and travelled the states , stayed sub Tropical in Costa Rica .. and thank you for the info shared 😊
A bit different kind of reaction to this, but that's all right, because they're all unique---the songs and the reactors! We can't think of her only as a child, for that would lead to hopeless confusion. Was young Mozart only a child? Genius makes its own rules, and we must go along for the ride. These amazing session musicians called her The Boss. As pros they learned more quickly than most who they were dealing with. When we trust our own instincts the heart quickly brings tne disbelieving mind to heel!
But to open the conversation up ( if I may ) Mozart whilst a genius did not live in a worid of instant internet approval or lack of ? No record labels trying to commodify every angle of the product ? But when we ( consumers) stay subjective then it’s a good idea to follow the path to see if it works for you 😊 I hope that makes sense …
@alan-reacts65 It does make sense. With Angelina I took time to search for her unofficial videos, including reactions, and don't to this day rely on anyone else's list. At my age I refuse to rely on any opinion maker or trendsetter to decide my likes and dislikes!
The musicians are awesome! But in my opinion, it’s not so much that Angelina is working with world class musicians. It’s that the musicians are working with world class Angelina! At nine years old, she arranged this herself. You can also see her putting the finishing touches to paper and the conductor reading them at the video’s beginning. These musicians fell in love with her and affectionately gave her a nickname - “ The Boss”! 😁
Jump to her 10 year old “feeling good” with an orchestra and it will show her immense development in 1 year. Great comments🎉❤
Actually she is self taught and does her own arrangements.
No one in her family is musical, although her Grandma introduced her to Jazz.
Greetings to a fellow music lover 😊
This is all Angelina's arrangement! She's a musical genius!
She arranged this version, musical genius.
To your point...there is a video of her working with these same musicians on another Jay Hawkins song, Portrait of a Man (she called her version Portrait of a Child). They called her "the boss." With great affection. I have seen several reactors who are musicians or producers be quite shocked by her control and professionalism.
I was going to recommend this too, to get a view of what goes on behind the scenes, and how she interacts with the musicians.
Brilliantly stated! ❤
@jtaljl well said 😎👍
Angelina's mother Sara reportedly said that since she was eight, it was like living with a tiny adult in the house.
The key is knowing that the band called her "The Boss". Her arrangement, the video shows her last minute changes being written and passed on.
I was in my 20's when I watched S. jay do this on the tv, in my 20's...........Super reaction to Angelina.
I like that and it's so true, she sings 'for us.
Thank you I did wonder 😊
Anything by Angelina, young or old is great. No matter how many times I listen she continues to surprise and delight me.❤
This is HER arrangement.
Angelina plays piano and guitar. She worked with the band and earned the nickname "The Boss".
It's not just the voice, the emotion she evokes, etc, but also the person she is;)
Spectacular performance (never bores), great reaction! Thanks! 🙂
My pleasure and thank you ☺️
as long as you know your not a weirdo it makes it easier to appreciate
Agreed 👍
Do whatever pleases you sequence wise. Everything she has done is great. The only thing you will find whether current or older is sometimes the recording is from a cell phone and she still shines through, but we all would prefer proper recordings of it all. Enjoy.
Great reaction, she can play multiple instruments, she is just so musically talented.
I enjoyed your reaction to young Miss Angelina Jordan 😊 well done

Thank you ☺️
There is a video of her rehearsing "Portrait of a Man".
Thank you ☺️
Back and forth as she has so much hear you will always be behind, and you will be years trying to keep up with her .
I hear you 😎👍
I tried to listen chronologically, and I pretty much did, but my curiosity got the better of me, and I did listen to new ones as they came out, then went back to chronological order.
Alan, i love your reaction! Every word you said about Angelina is what i feel about her. Anyway, hello from Serbia 🇷🇸!❤
Strictly chronological is an overwhelming volume.
The consensus is that and I’m ok with that and thankfull for the channels input 😊
This is her arrangement, the musicians there called her 'The Boss'.
Wow 😮
The paper she handed to the director were her last-minute changes to the arrangement, or as she refers to them as her "wishes."

I hope to live up your your praise , and keep your subscription 😊👍😎
This is in my opinion the BEST rendition of this song ever. Truly an unmatched vocalist and the best on any stage today. No autotune all natural magic. Empress of jazz Angelina Jordan!
Angelina actually arranged this rendition herself, she is paying tribute to Hawkins, Angelina is commanding this performance she is the boss,Angelina arranges all her own performances, great reaction thanks 🙏
Thank you for your kind words 😊
Great reaction! This version is hands-down my favorite of all the great versions, including the original. Angelina's emotional authenticity comes from deep within and is amazing to listen to. I'd say enjoy her music however you want, in the order you want. :)
Thank you ☺️
As to how to approach her...there is no right way. But with your knowledge and expertise, l would do one of her performances each year chronologically because you clearly will be able to comment on her phenomenal growth as a musician.
Your angle/viewpoint on this production was spot on. Nice job, great reaction and thanks!
Thank you for your kind words 😎
Best female singer on Earth.
I love the fans and everyone being passionate 😎
I'd jump between different ages and stages of her career...
👌👍👍
I've seen people react similarly- both because of the thematic nature of the song and that she's a freak of nature.
It will take you a while for sure, but worth watching/listening to everything she has put out there. Great honest reaction!
She's known to engineers as a one take queen. Many of her home videos are one take efforts
@user-gv4cx7vz8t point taken abd absorbed 😎👍
@@user-gv4cx7vz8t Just saying the SAME THING others have said. Mimic. Never heard anyone use the word emulate. IMO it just opinion either way. But thx
The most talented singer alive .
Allan!
@@alan-reacts65 Yeah -- I think it's more fun to skip around. I suggest taking a look at her most recent content, including some of her live performances in L.A.
Es increíble que todos los que reaccionan a este vídeo digan que el vaso o la vela es Jay Hawkins, no, es Dalí,un pintor español y seguro que se lo dedica a su abuela que también es pintora.
In spite of too small a screen size for the performer I stuck with your reaction. Glad I did .
Your honest evaluation was well appreciated ! take care, rh
@@richardhobbs7107 hi Richard I know the screen size is sometimes a problem , I’m trying to learn how to stream as this is a way to get beyond it , but I’m just starting that 😊
There is a wonderful video where Angelina is jamming with the band on another j Hawkins song called portrait of a man.
20 Original tracks ! Wow 😮 well I’m so happy I’m going to get to hear them and even more excited that I’m able to share them with everyone 😊
@ when you add songs written for her and songs she is the first person to sing along with her co-writen songs very close to 20. Really looking forward to seeing you again.
@@alan-reacts65 There is an enhanced version with subtitles but the original has been removed and I can not find an isolated version. I will leave you a link to a reaction of it and if you wish you could read them with no sound and cover the rest of the video so you know what she is telling the band members as she is giving some instructions during these. Perhaps someone is aware of an isolated copy of this and will send you a link. Just fyi the opening video is of her rehearsal of "Le Boheme" and is heartwarming and my favorite "video" of her.

I love Judy Garland 😊👍
Great, thanks! It's fine to jump around different ages, just don't neglect her offerings before 2016 and earlier because she's phenomenal in every one of them. I actually like the stuff before last January better than what's been released this year. Go figure...
I liked your reaction i think its good to get an appreciation of Angelina's development but also i think you need to hear how she sounds now and also experience her exceptional talent for song writing
Wait til you hit all the Hallmark songs of her at 10. She really finds her voice and not so much great mimicking.
start at Norway`s got talent !
Then it starts chronologically beginning with Gloomy Sunday from Norway's Got Talent. th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc.html&si=HrEm55lV164yKJqu

Why does Angelina sing barefoot?

Verbally encouraging your viewers to like comment and subscribe to yours and the artists' videos and channels boosts subscriptions and algorithms for both of you.
I will always do my best to encourage everyone to at least go support an artist or give recognition, I’m just a reactor not a creator and that’s how it should be 😊 I’ve pinned your comment 😎

The English version is only available in digital format and is sometimes unavailable.
@ if I can find the paper I will 😊
This is her arrangement ❤
Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina.
Let’s analyze the video:
1st you see how small and cute she is.
2nd you see she is barefoot (story below)
3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song.
Alan, you saw her arranging the whole thing.....at 9 years old!!!!!
❤
Well reacted. Like your honesty.
Good of you to notice Jay H and share the history. ☺️👏🏼
Look forward to your next.
Sooner or later you need to react to her rendition of another Jay Hawkins song “Portrait of a Man (child in her case). That is a jam session practice that you wanted to hear and see. It’s the same band and you’ll see why they call her the boss. Oh, and it’s JH’s best song in my view.

@@sverregylseth6095 I hope you check in on my other reactions , that’s all I tried to achieve 😊
@ I have. 😊👍
@sverregylseth6095 thank you ☺️ it means a lot
Totally arranged by Angelina......vocals and orchestration. She`s the boss !!!!
Go back and forth. You are in for awesome journey.
That’s been the general consensus 😎😊👍
She is the best thing that will ever happen to you
I wouldn't say that Angelina mimics other artists... she more takes inspiration from their works and adjusts them to what she believes will make them better or at least her version.
We're looking at 60years here bruv!.😂
Luvya work mate!.👌

I think that you should jump around in the years, listening to Angelina. There are just too many great songs that she has released in the past two or three years to wait an entire year or two to listen to them.
I agree ☝️ 👍😊 thank you

I just subscribed to your channel my friend. Angelina is the only vocalist I listen to now. Everyone else is just mediocre. Even Adel as great as she is doesn’t give me the emotional feeling when I listen to her. I am a 69 year old male and Angelina brings me to tears when she sings. Angelina covers some Adel songs that in my opinion are better than Adele’s version! I am not crazy. Thanks for your wonderful reaction to our Princess Angelina.

@ you have absolutely visited some of the great gems we have , I’m also photography obsessed and travelled the states , stayed sub Tropical in Costa Rica .. and thank you for the info shared 😊
No she is the one it’s all her. The studio band didn’t even know her & she wrote the sax solo.
Valid observation 😊, but I just like to give credit to things like see 😊
Listen to her latest official video "Bad Valentine" & then you can go wherever you like from there !!!
Have snuck into my house 😂 honestly and this is a first .. next is ..
Watch the Piano Diaries version.. it's just a masterpiece!
