I used to live close by....Skokie has always been a peaceful community. Until that area went section 8....we lived 4 blocks from the dividing line.....a couple months later crime had spread all over the neighborhood....our house also decreased in value....burglary and theft increased all over...kids began vandalizing.....it WAS a great neighborhood....were gone now...
50 people a week at least shot or killed in Chicago no police officers there has any room to talk about anything that happened in the school shooting recently. Do your jobs in Chicago and get the criminals there with the guns and let other cities and states worry about their crimes.
Why not ? The suburbians are gentrifying the "hood". Allocate resources equally to all communities. When will people see ?... nowhere to Run...nowhere to hide ?
I owned 2 apt bldgs at 4629-35 Main St and at 4641-43 Main St., and 6 other bldgs with my Dad, right there in Skokie. I owned those 2 Main St. apt bldgs for over 25 yrs. I personally lived in my 4641 Main St for 4 yrs. My Dad and I sold those 2 bldgs b/c we saw how Skokie was changing for the worst. Good renters were replaced over time with gov section 8 very poor renters. The neighborhood was going to shit so my Dad decided to sell those bldgs, and get out of Skokie. The small 3 flat bldgs were the first to rent to very poor section 8 public housing ghetto people. The poor welfare people turned the once good neighborhood into a Skokie mini ghetto neighborhood. Thank God my Dad had the foresight to sell when we did, and get out. While Skokie does have some good neighborhoods still available, near the border of Wilmette, and north of Dempster St. and Keeler Ave. Many of the rental apt bldgs have turned into section 8 gov housing where very poor welfare people live with too many people crammed into too small of an apt. Playgrounds fast became gang hang outs, with gang graffiti and open air drug parks became the norm. When the city of Chicago exported very poor gov welfare section 8 people into the suburbs, this is the result. Gangs, shootings, drugs and prostitution now are now common in Skokie. Before the yr 2000 these vices were unknown in Skokie. As a former 25 yr resident of Skokie, I can personally attest to how Skokie has gone from a great place to live into a place now where some neighborhoods still have nice houses, but other Skokie neighborhoods that have a lot of apt bldgs are now criminal infested gov welfare shit holes. I moved out of Skokie in 2016 only to see Skokie continue to import section 8 gov welfare people from Chicago ghettos to Skokie. Skokie has gone from great to bad to worse. Now cops in Skokie are like a military force, forced to deal with the wonderful ghetto criminals that get free gov welfare housing in a once great Skokie. Thank you piece of shit mayors of Chicago for exporting your gov welfare criminals to the suburbs. Thank you unscrupulous Skokie mayors and landlords primarily of small 3 flat bldgs for accepting gov welfare and gang banger tenants that gave them quick easy gov rent money, but have ruined a once great place to live that Skokie was. Carry concealed, and train at Maxon gun range.
