How to Make The Elvis Sandwich | The True Story Of How To Make A Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich!

- Years ago, I heard an interview with Elvis Presley's personal chef of 14 years, Miss Mary Jenkins, who described the morning when the iconic sandwich was perfected. Ingredients:
2 slices of bread (thick sliced if possible)
Peanut butter (1/4 cup or so)
1 banana (sliced)
5 1/3 tbs butter
Directions:
Toast bread slices to light golden. Let cool for 1-2 minutes. Spread peanut butter generously onto toast and lay banana slices in single layer on one side and then close sandwich.
In skillet, heat butter until melted, and then place sandwich into butter. On low to medium heat, cook sandwich, turning regularly. Move sandwich around pan to help soak up butter. "Keep turning and turning" as Miss Mary Jenkins suggests until both sides of sandwich are browned and until butter is completely absorbed. Lower heat if necessary to prevent bread from burning while soaking up butter. Remove from pan and let rest for about a minute before cutting in half. Enjoy!

I HAD 1 FRIDAY AT GRACELAND @ Gladys restaurant . IT WAS DELICIOUS. They didn't toast the bread first. And no bacon on it could be grilled in bacon grease or butter 😋 ❤❤😂❤ Im now making them right now for dinner THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ❤

There was a story about Elvis asking Linda Thompson to make him this Sandwich. In which Linda sliced the banana like in this video. Elvis went to take a bite, & all the slices of banana fell in his lap. So he took her to the kitchen to show her. You cut the banana in half, then slice it down the middle. Usually having four pieces of banana, then you put it on the bread. If you use this video’s version, you gunna end up like Elvis with banana slices in your lap. 😂TCB!

The key is you gotta keep the butter around 300 degrees so it doesn't smoke and has maximum soakage into the bread

To my knowledge , the bacon version is the Colorado version. It’s called the Fools Gold Loaf. When Elvis was in Colorado The Fools Gold Loaf he ate had peanut butter, jelly and bacon

The Presley Family cookbook says the banana and peanut butter was mashed together then spread on the bread. Nit sliced bananas.

According to other stories you forgot to add bacon, and fry/grill not toast it in the bacon fat.
