Japan has been paying for a large part of the costs of stationing U.S. troops in Japan. The U.S. would end up paying more if the same troops moved to the United States. Moreover, the U.S. troops in Japan are there first and foremost to protect U.S. interests. They are not there for charity.

@@gsmith1213 Probably the biggest factor was his mishandling of the Covid pandemic. His use of tariffs also drove up consumer prices. He gave tax breaks to rich donors and tried to break up unions. He drove up the deficit and caused record unemployment.
