- Inscryption Kaycee's Mod Part 5 - strength in numbers. I had no faith in ants, due to needing to draw multiple of them before they get good. But this time, it might actually work out.

kin is not just talking about wolves, but any matching creature type! so the trial of kin would work well with your deck, as you have a lot of insects

Tyler, you seem to be misunderstanding what the game means by “kin” (i.e. that one challenge that says that “at least 2 of the 3 drawn cards must be kin”). As far as I can tell, you think it refers to specifically the wolf-type creatures, but (at least in the context of the previously referenced challenge) it means that the cards can be of any type, but they need to be _the same._ This hasn’t been relevant yet, but it might in the future, so I’ll just leave this here.
Ya I just want to add because he seems a little confused. Every card has a watermark in the top left corner that displays its type. All insects have an insect head, all reptiles have a reptile head. If those heads on the card match they are considered to be "kin".

While I think you are right, I've specifically done that trial and drawn two ant queens, resulting in "failure" (V0.22). I'd like to think it's a bug, but I'm not sure

Kin isn't just dogs and wolfs. Its like birds and deer and, y'know, just as an example for no particular reason at all, insects. insects. Which was pretty much your entire deck.

When dealing with the wood carver sometimes it better to just grab the heads to get them out of the pool. That way you don’t keep seeing them again and again

for the kin trial, it means they have to be of the same tribe, the totem is irrelevant, so you would've easily won it as you have so many insects
The Trial of Kin refers to the tribes of the creature: Canine, Insect, Hooved, Reptile, and Avian. in the context, "Kin" means that they belong to the same tribe, so having a deck that's very biased towards one tribe of creature (a la an ant deck) it would be most preferable to go after the Trial of Kin
Hey Tyler, just so you know the Kin challenge refers to getting 2 of the same type (bug, deer, etc.) The thing you've been calling Kin is usually referred to as either canine or beast.
when it says kin, it means of the same family, as that is kin's definition. Canine is used to refer to wolf cards, but wolf also works.

The image of the wolf(or the tribe of canine) is just an example of kin.
It's not even a problem about gaming, it's about vocabulary.

@@cole7463 People can have gaps in their vocabularies. Kin isn’t a common word at all. It’s not even something I would consider to be an uncommon word. It’s a word that is almost exclusively used in academic contexts.

-every turn she changes her totem
-has a totem regardless of challenges
-after you defeat her first phase she turns all of your cards on deck into toem heads and you choose one to keep for the rest of the game
-when you come back to her area it says you found her satchel and you decide to only take one of her carvings
her area is called the clearing (couldn't come up with a leshy intro that fits)

A mycologist boss would be great too. Every turn they merge any matches (and keep the buffed card), if there are no matches they play a copy of one of your cards. After the first phase they copy your entire field, so you have to cycle all of your cards or they die buffing the enemy
The map could be a "mushroom forest" or something similar

Any two cards that have the same type (insects, lizards, canines, hooved, birds, etc.) are said to be kin.
The bell tentacle has an attack opposite to the distance between the bell and placement i.e., leftmost spot 4 damage, rightmost spot 1 damage.

Just a shame you didn't get that Insect totem head. Having the *Rabbit Hole* Sigil on your Ants and Mantis' would have led to something TRULY overpowered!
One thing I noticed, cards have a watermark at the top left that show what type that specific card is. Hope it helps in the future.
I know he's avoiding it, since it is fucking busted, but seeing him pass on a fecundity totem was a Moment.
It pisses me off. It isn't normally OP because it is normally rare. But Tyler just gets it every run but avoids it because its op.

Funny considering one of the most powerful things you can do in Act 1 is replace squirrels with bees which starts you with the insect totem then put on the ant queens sigil. So all your bees add a worker ant to your hand.

Drafting a head was actually the best play because it makes you more likely to get a insect head next time, since she always offers at least one head

I actually think when you look through the deck with magpie sigil, the right side is the card that will be pulled next, and the leftmost card will be pulled last. If this is true, you could definately use this to your advantage and the magpie would be even more broken
Spoiling the properties of the tentacle cards:
The mirror gives your card equal attack to the enemy it is facing, which we got to see an episode or two ago.
The bell, which Tyler got this run, has attack based off how close it is to the bell that is used to end your turn. At 36:48 we can see The Trapper has it as close to the bell as possible with 4 damage. Tyler was later scared it would be 0, but it would have been 2 attack if he placed it instead of the bloodhound at 37:28.
The deck has attack equal to the number of cards in your deck. I don't think we've seen it during Kaycee's mod, but I do think Tyler saw it in one of the shops and acknowledge how attack works for it.
It’s always nice to see an ant deck work out. Ants might be some of the more interesting cards, especially with the addition of flying ants.

a combo like that beats black goat and cat in value too.
The bigger sin IMHO was passing up the field mice sigil for a bird head, if he got it his 0 cost 1/1 heck would be always playable, hell you can play 4 in a single turn making it near impossible to lose
@@jaykoerner Tyler made a comment in Ep.1 that he thinks fecundity is too OP, so I think it's likely that he's intentionally avoiding it.
@@Muskar2 I guess, he also said that about Ouroboros but he sounded like he had zero issues with it in this run, strictly not choosing it because it's to slow for his deck, tbh given the nature of Kaycees mod I don't think it's a cop out
@@jaykoerner That's not how I understood it, but we'll never know his motivation, and I guess I don't really care to either. Personally, I think Ouroboros isn't a very good card in Kaycee's Mod unless you specifically try to kill loop it early to strengthen it - often in combination with some other infinite value combos (like a cockroach and a 1-cost fecundity card). In the main game its power was permanent making it way more overpowered.

20:09 I'd just like to point out that sacrificing the Mantis for the Worker Ant was the correct play here. Ant Queen hits for 2, Worker Ant kills both Flying Ants, Great White kills the Flying Ant in front of it, you take only 1 damage from the Skink and win next turn because of the Worker Ant having 2 power. Fell free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Few tips, the stomach worm can be fed to people st campfires to make them disappear the next time you to one which allows you to use it 4 times (the maximum) without risk and if you sacrifice a black sheep to the bone lord it will give you the better version of the boom where you start with 8 instead of 1 bone
In kaycess mod the max at the campfire is always 2, reguardless ofbthe starving people their or not

For the bell squid, the more you have it more near the bell the more damage it does. If you have it all the way to the left it has 4 damage, if it’s to the right of that it’s 3, if it’s to the right of that it’s 2 etc.
Better explanation; all the way to the left it’s 4 damage, all the way to right it’s 1 damage.

@@greatsageclok-roo9013 not sure honestly, but it’s how close it is now. People think it’s how many times you ring the bell which is what I thought when I first started playing. After you beat the game or something they should clear the rule book of the ink spatters.
I feel like the rat sigil is the best one since you get the cards you play back in your hand, if he had grabbed it instead of of a head he could have had reptiles with rat so the geck just becomes like infinite squirrels

Kin is anything that is able to work alongside a totem head, if you look at the top left of each card, some will have a faded symbol such as the insects have a faded insect symbol, that is kin, and it means they obviously go with the insect totem head
I remember the time I got the mole man to 6 attack and 8 health with the sigil that makes him come back to my hand when he died. Good times. I was so proud of it, also i got the card tentacle with triple strike from a mantis god sacrifice and that slapped, considering i had 9 cards in my hand at the time I was fighting the moon(also it had 4 health)

I'm sure you've been told a million times by now, but the tentacles bell attack is the closer it is to the bell the more attack it has. Just put it on the left for a 2 cost 4 attack creature

It’s an interesting deck: all about getting great sigils on ants and getting duplicates to mycologist together. But then you can’t boost the attack stat that way or with fire and your max damage is limited. Probably not the most optimal way to play if you’re on the really high challenge levels , but it’s a fun and interesting challenge for a for fun run

I feel for you getting rabbit hole totem on your first woodcarver event, and never rolling the right head after five more. Apparently it cuts you off after 7 and gives you an inhabited amalgam instead, so you were only one away from the worst case scenario
Quick Tip:
If you get the campfire people to eat either an Adder, Long Elk, or Ring Worm it will kill them. So every time you go to a campfire for the rest of your run, the campfire people won't be there so you can upgrade your card multiple times without worrying about it getting eaten.
If he had picked field mice for the totem at 28:00 instead of the bird head that would've been so op with the geck
Probably my most powerful synergy i ever had with with ants was, there's a sigil later in the mod called morsel, from a card called a meal worm, and i was lucky enough to get field mice in the first trader, so i put that sigil on my flying ant, and got the totem for morsel on insects, every time i played a flying ant, and sacrificed it, it would add that ant's stats on top of the new one's and since it added up fact, i could just keep sacrificing the same ant until it had any amount of damage i wanted.
In the trials when it says kin it means any kin, not just wolf kin it needs to be the same type of creature so two insects, two reptiles, two deer, etc.
Now that we have seen the rabbit-spawning Geck, what we need is the absolute nuttiness of the *undying* rabbit-spawning Geck.
Aliensrock, the bell tentacle is 4 power minus how away it it’s from the bell, so if it’s on the most right spot (next to the bell) is 4 minus 0
And if it’s on the left most spot (next to the items, cards and candles) is 4 minus 4

The ant deck starting with the Warren is a great and consistent sacrifice for the Ant Queen so you can freely summon the ant that the queen creates. That starting deck is strong but does push you towards an ant deck harder than other decks push you towards a build imo

day 4 of telling Tyler that you can kill a creature with the death touch sigil in the hungry survivor event, then the next time the fire appears, nobody's there, and you can strengthen a creature to insanely high amounts. it's trading a death touch sigil for high stats.
edit: I stayed up late to increase my chances of getting noticed, and also because I love this game.

To be specific, it has to naturally have the death touch sigil. Sacrificing the adder into something won't kill the hungry survivors. But yeah, Ring Worm, Adder, and Long Elk will kill the survivors.

Once I got ant-spawner totem on squirrels, which meant every single game became about making an ant army, nothing else came close
You should've taken heads more often if you wanted warren insects, if you already have a good body sculpture then there's no need to take more bodies, instead keep taking heads to increase your chance of getting the one you want because it removes the head you took from the woodcarver rotation and there's always a guaranteed head at all woodcarver encounters.
Mantises are indeed not reptiles.
Misplays are also completely random. It’s just a counter that has a 5% chance to increment.
For the record, "Kin" means family, so if you draw two cards of the same type (like insect) you would win that trial.
All insects are “Kin” with each other. All canines are “kin” with each other. Kin refers to the TYPE of animal that the card is, so totem heads and trials affect types of cards that match the kin, not just wolves. All the totem heads are technically “kin” the wolf one is the canine kin specifically.

The unseen value of the ringworm is you can poison the survivors at campfire encounters. Once they eat the ringworm every campfire encounter afterwards has no chance of your cards dying. Guaranteed Buff.
The Trail of Kin doesn't need to be canine by the way - they can be any two matching clans.
If you're searching for a certain head, the optimal thing to do is take any head you see since you can't get offered a head you already have
Imagine getting the sigil that created a copy of the played card and the sigil that gives a rabbit when the card is played on a flying ant

Missed out on infinite geck, had option for field mouse ability on geck, giving a full board every turn after you draw geck, plus infinite sacrifices
He's avoiding Field Mice and the Fecundity Sigil because of how overpowered it is.
