The Caterpie situation is why I always bring a thunder wave mon. Can’t call for help if you’re paralyzed, so no risk for having to kill a second shiny! 😂 Excellent video as always, would love to see you do more SOS hunts in the future!
Haha the moment I remove my thunder wave zapdos from the party, this happens 😭 it was super unexpected though, still super cool to experience it despite the dead shiny 😂

I didn't know what shinies were until I was a teenager. When sun and moon came out, I was only on the second route during my first playthrough, and got a full odds shiny alolan rattata. That was the beginning of my shiny addiction ✨️ 😊 I'm almost 26 now, and still love pokemon ❤
I love SOS method. I remember the same thing happened to me when a second shiny beldum appeared because I couldn't catch the first one on time. Cool video and congrats for all of the shinies!
I looked into the Synchronize situation with SOS battles, and it only works if you have the Synchronize Pokemon on the field. One thing tho, is if you have a fainted Pokemon in the first slot, and then have your Synchronize Pokemon out, it synchronizes the fainted Pokemon's Nature.
When I did SOS chaining during the Gen 7 run, I got my shiny Corsola in 12 encounters. Seeing that you gut yours in 28 makes me want to believe Corsola is just really nice and tries not to prolong the hunt.
I highly recommend bringing a Smeargle with False Swipe, Recycle, a status move and a damaging move as well as a held Leppa Berry. Really helps with the PP management during the hunt. Harvest also works, but Smeargle just has the best movepool for this
I had the perfect setup when I was SOS chaining last year. I had the standard Harvest Trevenant with Skill Swap and Trick, and to save on using items that restored PP and health, the KOing Pokémon would be ones that can learn Role Play and a draining attack. When giving them a Leppa Berry to hold as well, they would basically have infinite PP after they copied Harvest. My favorites to use were Marshadow, Gengar, Palossand, and a Trace Gardevoir.
Important to note, in regular Sun & Moon the chain does eventually reset (I think around 250 or 255), though it does not have this issue in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Kinda works out for the better, since the Ultra games have plenty more Pokémon that this method works on.
I remember when i sos chained a mimikyu, unfortunately muscle memory kicked in and i was partially asleep and didn't hear the shiny notification so i accidentally killed it.
I also got a shiny Shroomish on my 17th egg which was my first time I properly sat down and hatched eggs, so I’d say it’s a good omen for future shiny hunts

idk if you'll see this, but the Synchronize Mechanic works weirdly with SOS Chaining. I know this because I'm currently doing something similar with Salandit SOS, using Cute Charm to get more female chance. You have to have your Synchronize Mon at the LEAD, and then ALSO have it active when it calls a Pokemon for it to work. You can't just switch it out into your new Mon, you gotta have it at the lead and then have it active. You can still switch out and then switch back for it to work as intended.

Game won't let you catch a pokemon in a double encounter (same for hordes in X&Y) because the game tells you it's "too hard to aim". Only way it'll let you catch one is if you faint the other one first. Hope this helps a little!
Asking a question. I played pokemon sun and was thinking should I get ultra sun or moon to do these type of hunts and for wormhole hunting? I haven’t played ultra sun and moon yet. It seems fun to do.
Funfact: if ppl would relise how this Shiny hunt Methode work more clearly, we would already know how the Methode in Let's Go works too. It's not exactly the same, but the numbers are, and! you have to defeat/catch a Pokemon to giving the next Pokemon a higher shiny chance. So yes, at the end it makes sence, that if you stop catching Pokemon in Let's go, you lose your 1:273 shiny odds and it jumps back to 1:1024 until you catch the same pokemon again. The only difference is, that you are not always ina battle and Pokemon can always spawn without doing anything.
I believe the reason that none of your synchronizers worked for the SOS is because the synchronizer copies the ability from the second pokemon in your party, I could be wrong though I just remember hearing this a while ago

There's something I don't understand about this method. Do I have to keep the same Pokemon alive or do I have to kill the old one when the new appears and keep doing the same? If don't, what happens when the Pokemon is out of pp's?
Your synchronize wasn’t working because it has to be the Pokémon in battle when a call is answered. So you technically weren’t synchronizing for any of these.
Can you please go back to the ORAS dex nav hunting Edit: I have decided I wanted my favourite Pokémon Axew with every ribbon it can get and since my Pokémon Y got corrupted a long time ago I decided to hunt it in ORAS which I never played it was just sitting in its game case little did I know the only way to hunt Axew is through the dex nav and after you complete the postgame in granite cave only so I have been doing this for awile but I can’t get it and no I don’t have the shiny charm I am not catching every mon in the game for better odds I am watching this while hunting it but it would be great to see someone so the hunt in modern day because all of the guides and hunts are pretty old and not as high quality as todays content
The shiny hunting methods are why I put the gen 6 and 7 games so high on my favorite gens list. Theyre great and powerful, but require you to actually utilize them to find the shinies. Compare that to my least favorite pokemon game, Legends Arceus, where the shinies lose all meaning.
This method is my favorite so I wanted to get a shiny zorua and encountered one but I forgot my togademaru had iron barbs and the zorua was low health so i accidentally killed it so I don’t like lowering hp while hunting anymore
I currently can not get a harvest leppa berry pokemon, I personally keep track of turns and get a new caller when they’re close to struggling. I’ve been constantly failing Rockruff though because I accidentally run away Since rockruff has sand attack, I used sneasel that all had false swipe and keen eye
I cant believe the jolly sync didn't work on mewoth that was the worst moment 😢😢😢😢😢 and you have officially beaten the skill issue allegations 🎉🎉 but no jolly pokemon again😢
while i love sos hunting, thry hsbe some of the most challenging hunts i got a shiny pinsir in 4 sos and a shiny miltank in 117 but it can be VERY slow and drsining if you're not prepared
117 really isn't that bad. I got over 500 a couple of times, and I've seen people go over 1000 But congrats on your shinys, Miltank does have a terrible call rate

Synchronize in earlier gens let’s you have a higher shot at the wild Pokémon being the same nature as the Pokémon in your party with synch. So let’s say I have a jolly synchronize abra. The wild Pokémon has a 50% chance of being jolly
Do yourself a favor. Ultimate team, 1 harvest bestow skill swap mon with leppa to give starting mon infinite pp, 2 false swiper with spore, 3 false swiper with thunder wave, 4 harvest mon with sunny day and horn leech, 5 and 6 are optional but a synchronizer with recycle and a pressurer with recycle.
If you use this method, please bring a leppa berry + harvest mon. Don’t be lazy like me LOL

Synchronize only works in sos when the pokemon is present in battle, for static encounters it works as long as being first in party.
Lmaoo makes sense, my tiny brain was slowly figuring that out as time passed 😭😭

SOS is one of my favorite shiny hunting methods I have caught myself returning to it a few times every once in awhile to switch things up a little

HAHA it was a super fun method. The little gimmicks like sand attack made it a lil tedious, but overall one of my favorite ways to get shinies now

My favorite memory of SOS chaining was my shiny level 11 Salamence I got while hunting bacon on Route 4

I have the feeling that SOS hunting is way worse in usum than in regular sun and moon. It took me way more encounters in usum than in sm

The synchronize only work if u keep the synchronizer stay and fight (and its just 50%)
