I love sos since i got sun back in 2016 now i have hunted atleast 90% of the dex chaining but thought I should add something that might help: Instead of buying so many full restores to use I use leftovers to heal each turn, its great for hunting a majority of early game and even late game pokemob if have level 100 mons
One thing for the knockout Pokémon is that you also could use the setup with harvest as long as it could get a move like role play. This is what I like to use for lower level sos Pokémon. The Pokémon that can have this combination of moves are: Marshadow, The pawniard evolution line, Mew, smeargle and Absol

Ironically, I've been shiny hunting a buneary for upwards of 1400 encounters over the last several days. I've never had an sos hunt in Ultra moon go over 400 until this one. I just wanted to make sure i wasn't messing something up haha.
You can do it “early” if you have the Pokemon and it works the same in sun/moon. On the 2nd island is when you can buy adrenaline orbs. Only main difference is after 256 chain the shiny odds reset in sun/moon
Yeah its just alot more involved, since you have to switch pokemon before the chaining pokemon struggles, that and the lack of diversity in “countering” said Pokemon (scrappy for ghosts, double hit moves for sturdy etc)
OG sun moon and ultra games is chain of 30 will max out your shiny odds. The only PROBLEM in OG sun moon is after 256 chain your chain will restart. So you have to do 30 more encounters to max out your shiny odds again. This problem was fixed in the Ultra games
@@Ty1er330 no it doesn’t break the chain. It just means you have to waste a turn to try again. As long as the battle is active your chain is fine. Different Pokemon have a different call % of showing up with sos. Hence why I’m not a HUGE fan of the method because it gets annoying after a awhile of no Pokemon spawns lol

False swipers are my favorite things to try and optimize. Smeargle can work, especially with technician and stab, and literally any support move, however Breloom could do nearly the exact same thing but stronger. However ghost types would be a problem for breloom so thats when Pangoro, Samurott, and again Smeargle are considered. But then theres Gallade because he's cool as heck and learns some good support moves. The list goes on until you can outsmart every possible pokemon's moveset.
Back in 2018 while Shiny Hunting for a Shiny Magikarp I found the Shiny, got it to red health but then it actually SOS'd another Shiny! Unfortunately it'd ONLY left me keep one of them! ✨🎣
I always wondered what if I switch the caller ? example I accidentally kill the pokemon I set up for the chain, do I have to KO another 30 to get to max odds or I dont need to ?
I think kadabra works best if you want to infinite chain. Kadabra with leppa berry and recycle makes it so you never run out of moves ever. Plus it knows synchronize so you can get a desired nature, since in gen 7, the synchronized nature is determined by the 1st pokemon you start the battle with, and not the synchronizer itself. Kadabra: leppa berry -confusion -recover -recycle -substitute (for annoying stat effect users)

I use leftovers on my Breloom, I just have no issues with money in my game so I just stock up LOL

Cool fact to know! I've had 0 issues using skill swap when going for lower level Pokémon, but I'll keep that in mind for different Pokémon setups :)

easiest way to get a HA phantump is by doing DexNav in ORAS in petelburg woods :)
But you need pokébank to transfer and for most people they may not be able to do that 😞

Once I was chaining from a smoochum to catch a jynx for my Pokédex entry. My first chain I ended up getting a shiny smoochum and no jynx.
The pokemon wont call another sos after it calls one is there a fix for this?
Sadly no, each Pokemon has a different call % so some Pokemon it’s easy to call for help and other Pokemon it takes awhile 😅

Chain of 30+? Not 70+? 😮 Or is the 70+ chain in Sun & Moon?

Nah it works, I used to do sos that way before using this method. This method just makes it way easier lol

If chain is 200 or more is that restart shiny odd?
Only in original sun and moon it restarts. The Ultra games don’t have that issue because they fixed it

Nope, as long as the battle goes on you are all good. Switching Pokemon is 100% OK during battle
