Looking great, you've an awesome template if you do want to replace the canvas with heavier duty. The Yanks love to use 'no see um' mesh for bug screens, stops even the tiny little blighters

The highlight of my Saturday morning: coffee and TBT videos! Good to see the 3D printing expanding Jon! What material did you print the dash plate in? 2 things spring to mind: instead of melting zip ties for filling small holes, what about a 3D pen (great way to use up your filament off-cuts)? But more importantly, if you dial your printer in perfectly and buy some TPU, you can print Jess and infinite supply of Crocs!
Superb as always 😊, we’ve been using 5 litre water bottles for drinking water in our Crafter camper and looking for a solution. All sorted now, placing an order Monday so we can drink out of our 100litre onboard tank, thanks guys, 😊👌

Looking good! Just a bit concerned about the solar panels, with the corner bracket casting a shadow line. The way solar panels work, a little bit of shadow on one cell will decrease the output of all cells. It could be a nice test to measure the output with the shadow line in place, rotate the van 180 and measure again when there isn't a bit of shadow, but I'm afraid you will be shocked by the loss of efficiency. If so you might want to rethink the way the angle rail is installed
Thanks mate totally agree, we really struggled to find solar panels to fit the roof and so this was the best we could do. We will keep an eye on what we are getting and like you say test it and adapt it if we need to 💙

saturday sparkle thank you , I would strongly suggest a pocket in top of the pop up tent, that will fit two large cans of hairspray. You will not be putting hairspray in there, you will be putting in a air horn, and a tin of bear spray for Canada, A pop up tent is a burrito to a bear.
😂😂 Big red isn’t going to Canada unfortunately we want to do the Arctic again in winter so taking the Sainsburys van. A burrito for a bear really made me laugh though 😂

What type off pop rivits (materals) did you use with the stainless steel washers? Stainless and aluminium dont go well together and they dont hold up outdoors.

You missed a trick with the plastic repairs !! put your cable ties in a bunch and feed into hot glue gun it melts the plastic and you can feed with trigger! We are busy building a mog and box here in Brisbane but it just gets to sunny and hot! (we are from uk) keep the vids rolling!

I might just TBT the exhaust Jon 😂😂 Loving the dash and plumbing. I used to work in maintenance recently and we would only use JG fittings only. Too many rip offs. Absolute genius, some of the ideas you two come up with 😮 I so wish you’d been building my van. But hey ho. Canvas looks great (bungee genius) but I can understand your concerns about how thin it is. In cold weather you’re going to need a thermal pop top wrap. Make sure the autoterm gets a dedicated swivel vent up into it. As always, fab banter and brilliant progress. Love waking up to you both on a Saturday 😮( that came out a bit weird…) 😅❤

This is really coming together now, the level of workmanship is outstanding! I know what you mean about the canvas and the mesh size of the bug screen, it’s really hard to find an aftermarket pop top canvas maker that gets all these things right, I’ve never managed. By the way Jon, I think a phone plug is an RJ11?
Have you thought of making and fitting a wind deflector at the front of your roof rack? Also, how about you camp out overnight in the beast to make sure everything works? Good video idea hey. 👍🏻🙏🦘

We lost a solar panel on our way back from Scotland, ours are mounted the same as yours behind each other.. It was fine for months, but a bit of wind got under one and ripped it off. Scary. When I refitted it I gorilla taped between the panels and it's been fine since and hasn't peeled up either.
My favourite People!!!! Look forward to Saturday mornings so much since discovering your channel. Jon, you could have got Jess some slightly more original Crocs, ones with a platform sole for extra feminine style to them or something. I have a pair of Goth Crocs, platform, chunky metal chain and a few silver charms on.... ugly but weirdly cute. 😂 Please guys, if I wanted to send you something in the post, how would I go about it? 😊
Crocs are ugly but practical. Husband wears them when he mows the lawn and the grass is a bit wet…and can be rinsed off with the garden hose. He’s also worn them to early football practice in August when the practice field can be a bit swampy. However I have not been converted to a Croc lover. Watch out Jess, but Jon is going to 3-D print a bunch of those charm things you pop into the holes on the Crocs. I want to hope they will be things like his favorite tools, but I think you know they’ll be dirty joke related.

Excellent show but the mesh on windows is rubbish should be midges size you definitely need to change it the bugs won't even slow down going through it if you don't change it you will remember me telling you we know from experience
The canvas looks great, probably a silly question but could you not get a replacement insect screen with smaller holes fitted (or even velcro retro fitted) for mosquitoes or the hated Scottish midge? Be safe folks, see you next time

No they weren’t, will just see how it goes. 2 good points people have made so far though, 1 it will dry quickly and 2 if it does die quickly at least we have a good template to take to someone and specify materials 👍

You missed a trick with the plastic repairs !! put your cable ties in a bunch and feed into hot glue gun it melts the plastic and you can feed with trigger! We are busy building a mog and box here in Brisbane but it just gets to sunny and hot! (we are from uk) keep the vids rolling!

Absolute genius, some of the ideas you two come up with 😮 I so wish you’d been building my van. But hey ho. Canvas looks great (bungee genius) but I can understand your concerns about how thin it is. In cold weather you’re going to need a thermal pop top wrap. Make sure the autoterm gets a dedicated swivel vent up into it. As always, fab banter and brilliant progress. Love waking up to you both on a Saturday 😮( that came out a bit weird…) 😅❤

This is really coming together now, the level of workmanship is outstanding! I know what you mean about the canvas and the mesh size of the bug screen, it’s really hard to find an aftermarket pop top canvas maker that gets all these things right, I’ve never managed.
By the way Jon, I think a phone plug is an RJ11?

We lost a solar panel on our way back from Scotland, ours are mounted the same as yours behind each other.. It was fine for months, but a bit of wind got under one and ripped it off. Scary.
When I refitted it I gorilla taped between the panels and it's been fine since and hasn't peeled up either.
Relatively new follower here but you two are just hilarious, honestly look forward to your videos every week as you are so genuinely hilarious!

Crocs are ugly but practical. Husband wears them when he mows the lawn and the grass is a bit wet…and can be rinsed off with the garden hose. He’s also worn them to early football practice in August when the practice field can be a bit swampy.
However I have not been converted to a Croc lover. Watch out Jess, but Jon is going to 3-D print a bunch of those charm things you pop into the holes on the Crocs. I want to hope they will be things like his favorite tools, but I think you know they’ll be dirty joke related.
As if crocs could get any worse 😂😂😂 I hate to agree but they are comfy 🤦♀️ 😂😂 and I can keep my slipper socks on inside them when I nip outside which is pretty great 😂 oh god I’m going to the dark side
Excellent show but the mesh on windows is rubbish should be midges size you definitely need to change it the bugs won't even slow down going through it if you don't change it you will remember me telling you we know from experience

The canvas looks great, probably a silly question but could you not get a replacement insect screen with smaller holes fitted (or even velcro retro fitted) for mosquitoes or the hated Scottish midge?
