    His signatures really do sound amazing, I just wish you could adjust the trussrod without taking off the neck. Some period correct things are worth letting go of.

    • @trenken
      @trenken ปีที่แล้ว

      Never even heard of that. How the hell would you adjust a truss rod with the neck OFF??? 🥴 make it make sense

    • @6minus3minus2
      @6minus3minus2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trenken Old Fenders, and vintage reissues, have the truss rod adjustment at the bottom of the neck. The designs have little or no room to get an adjustment tool in there, so you have to take the neck off.

    • @trenken
      @trenken ปีที่แล้ว

      @@6minus3minus2 i get it but im not understanding how its feasible to adjust the truss with the neck off when you cant test it out. Its a shame that geddy would think this is a good idea. Unless he had little to do with the design of these basses.

    • @6minus3minus2
      @6minus3minus2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@trenken It's possible, it's just very time consuming, since you have to put the neck back on to test it. And Geddy has a tech who handles all this stuff for him, he doesn't have to worry about it.

    That sounded good! I wonder if Flatwounds would have helped with the Mr. Farrington track?

    The Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is a lot of bang for the buck. It's a Working Man's bass ( no pun intended)😁
    I own 2x of them. One is Black with white pickguard & Crafted in Japan & the 2nd one is 3 Tone Sunburst Made in Mexico like the one that was demo'd in this video, pair up the Geddy Lee Jazz bass with a Sansamp , especially the Geddy Lee YYZ Shape-Shifter or the DI 2112 & you'll have awesomeness for days😊

    Sounds great! Heard that the Geddy Lee is/was notorious for having an unstable neck. Is it any thinner than normal?

    • @PolarBimbi
      @PolarBimbi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it is the thinnest jazz bass neck. even Geddy Lee opted for something thicker when they made his american sig.

    He has 2 basses, right? A signature and an American. I know he has one with block inlays and one without. Just wondering which is which and what’s the price difference.

    • @trenken
      @trenken ปีที่แล้ว

      His american model is over 2k. Thats his current one. This sunburst is a bit older, and cheaper. Mexican bass. He also had the black japanese one which a lot of people complained about. Neck issues apparently. Obviously his black us made bass is his best signature model.
      But none of these are on the level of his actual basses he played on stage. Many of those were fender custom shop basses which is very pricey, easily over 5k and some way beyond that. I saw a used custom shop bass just like the main black ones geddy used live and it was over 15 grand.

    2 huge drawbacks to this bass that i dont think you mentioned. Glossy neck. These days i think most people prefer satin. Just easier to glide up and down.
    And the fact that you have to unbolt the neck just to adjust the truss rod. This is a total deal breaker for me and unacceptable that geddy would allow this. Yes its true to the bass at the time, but this is one thing that needed a modern treatment.

    • @bassyey
      @bassyey 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can forgive gloss neck, but prefer satin. But yeah, removing neck for truss rod adjustment is quite stupid.
