For dim sum noobs, the soup dumplings actually have soup in them. They turn the broth into a gelatin during prep which obviously makes it easier as it’s a solid. When they steam the dumpling, the gelatin melts back into a liquid inside the dumpling. Their advice for checking the broth temperature is spot on. I’ve seen a dim sum experience end early from a mouth burn.

that is crazy I noticed that they were both $72 but it flashed real fast so I couldn't see how many cents but if they both landed exactly the same price that was really crazy and you should buy a lottery ticket !! seeing those buns have convinced me that I have to go to Tim Ho wan today I need to go to the palms any way to play my free play so it will be perfect to get a six pack to go... Sweet goodness of those buns I love them !! Also I was going to ask you did you ever eat at Nordstrom's ? They also have a great Cafe kind of hidden away... Safe travels hope to see you in Vegas sometime !! 🎲♥️♣️♦️😁

Heard a rumor that some dim sum places are using frozen product. Just noticed that the second stop's soup dumpings and egg tarts look almost identical to what I normally get at my dim sum spot. At least the first stop let you film them actually making the dumplings. Do you guys prefer the meatball hum bao or the maunapua style bun instead?

I don't know if Delta flies to Taiwan but you've got to visit the original Din Tai Fung in Taipei (old, multi-story building with each floor being a single small dining room) and the much larger, modern one also in Taipei. Both are better than any other Din Tai Fung in the world but the newer one has the edge (and is more popular among the locals). I've been to Din Tai Fungs throughout Asia. The ones in China (Beijing and Shanghai) are pretty good but the ones in Singapore are the worst (even worse than those in California--just like their outlets of the Tim Ho Wan chain, I don't know why).

    • @billandlisa
