Good stuff. I did a lot of sport (in my 20's/30's in particular), because I was having a blast rather than because of any forethought. However looking back I realise how important that was & how much better my body could perform in those years. If I were in your shoes I would do as much as I can & then some. Good luck.

That's bonkers. I've never managed much more than about 20km of MTB without being knackered. Does look very fine terrain. Bugger the emissions, I'll have to visit Iceland sometime.
I know when we used to ride a lot in Snowdonia we gave up with normal socks and wore wet suit socks, it didn't matter then if your feet were soaked they were still warm (well, not frozen). :)

Yes, we've been there during the first week of April and while we weren't too happy with the overall weather and snow conditions, we were extremely lucky with the northern lights. We got the full light show on two evenings, sitting in the hot tub with a beer :-).
Woooow, what an adventure. Scenery looks incredible! Trip of a lifetime. Considering how many stops you took to film video clips, bloody good effort to still be in 3rd place at end of day two. What was your overall finishing position? Were you piloting the drone as well? Amazing footage!
I definitely couldn't. There were sections that were super hard on a hardtail even, a full susser would have been a better choice. It's just that we were unable to film on the really tricky, rough and rocky sections so it looks flatter and easier than it was!

Both Kym and I suffer from bad circulation (I have Raynaud's Syndrome) so we wanted to keep our feet dry until the last day, even if it cost us time

Yeah, we definitely could have but the days are long, it's cold and we didn't want wet feet for three days
most times is safer to just walk through water. you never know whats under there.

She loved it and is a complete natural. She likes riding up hills whereas I like riding down them!

My husband is racing that! Didn't have too much trouble with lava on my tures but oh my God, it was hella bumpy on my XC bike, my bum hurt so much
