I thought for a moment when Seen the video it had been made for The Golden Oldie Picture Show which was shown on BBC 1 between 1985-1988, I didn't recall the The Laughing Gnome featuring on the programme.
yes, it's from a film made by a very talented American friend of mine which is a reconstruction of the wiped 500th TOTP (tx 04/10/1973) which was shown at a Kaleidoscope event in 2023, made from existing video sources and a new audio source of the whole thing. The actual Laughing Gnome video as presented here comes from my DVD copy. Hence the blurred timecode. The film was made by Caravel Films of Slough per pro the BBC (they made films for the TOTP between 1970 and 1974 inclusive) and was directed by the late Tom Taylor of Bury St Edmunds. It lay in an archive in Kent until I spotted it in 2016.
While we're on finding Holy Grails of TOTP, has anyone got a copy of The Doors performing Hello I Love You from Sept 5th, 1968 they'd like to put up?
