Really happy your not putting in ground heat , use a used oil heater cheaper and better.

I installed a mini split that has a heat pump. Even without insulation, Its takes the chill out and makes it comfortable to work in. Here in the south, heating isn’t much of an issue… cooling is.

Exciting. Hope it all works out with the second pour.

Looks really nice. A second coat of the sealer may give it a little extra wear also. I think with the stone work and plantings it will be a beautiful accent for the new building. Have a Blessed day.

Congratulations on the pour. I remember the excitement of my shop pour. My building people did NOT wait even 48 hours to start putting my steel up though. :( I see lots of spider cracks because of that I feel like.

In my experience, there are 2 types of concrete. One that’s cracked and one that’s going to crack. I’m a bit surprised at how little rebar they used. Here in Minnesota it’s 2x2 squares. I’m sure everything will be fine in the end. I built a 30x40 shop last year and it was sealed which cost $120 for the materials

Yeah, especially shrinkage cracks. So far so good… its been 3.5 weeks now and nothing. Not quite at full cure yet but looking good.
Yeah, you’d be surprised… he’s the only guy around here that was willing to even use rebar OR vapor barrier. Every single concrete guy wanted to pour right on the dirt, not even any gravel, no vapor, no mesh, no rebar - nothing.

@@HiddenCreekHomestead here in Minnesota things are obviously done differently with the cold weather we get. There is 2” foam under the slab and the outside edge is a foot thick. Plus there is more foam outside the slab covered with dirt. My floor, poured last July only has a few minor cracks and held up well over the winter.

11:05 I watched a video (Shop Build Part 12 Floor Prep & Seal #realraysgarage) where he buffed and sealed it like you just did then added an industrial wax. A lot of home centers wax their concrete floors. The good thing about wax is it will repel dirt and oil and protect your floor and when it wears out after a several years you just add more wax. I have seen some epoxy nightmares not done right where you basically have to grind down the old epoxy to get new epoxy to stick. You could just wax over your sealed slab to maintain its shine, plus wax could be removed with cleaners if you ever wanted to go with something else later.

Thats a great idea. Unfortunately Im all moved in already lol! I think I’ll try that if I ever reapply this sealer though.
