I remember that before the Village and Pillage update I experimented with a 0 cost trade villager. It worked, needed the item in the slot, but didn't consume it. But I shouldn't have shift clicked...
I'm assuming your game crashed as it tried to give you infinite items?

@@zerazaN I guess it divides the number of items by the price, which is 0.
@@user-yo6qf5iw1b divided by 0? Shi-
@@user-yo6qf5iw1b This is probably how it works: the number of emeralds you give the villager / the number of emeralds the villager wants = how many items you get, except that you always have to round down the end value (so that 23 emeralds don't give you 2 items that cost 12 emeralds)
Now you just have to make it that 2 emeralds can be traded for 0 bows.
Because that's how villagers usually are.

Wow I actually discovered something before Phoenix!
I made a command book a few years ago that lets me add blank trades to a villager and then set those trade to whatever item is in my hand.
I usually use it for mini game shops but it’s very funny having a player come across a village where every villager just has blank trades or every villager requires 64 emerald blocks for each trade.
did you know that if you give yourself hero of the village 255, it'll always be the lowest possible, which is 1?
yes?

No.
Firstly, if something cost 2 emeralds and there was a 30% discount then it'd cost 1.4 emeralds, which is not less than one.
Secondly, he literally set the discount value to some crazy large number and the price remained at one. If what you suggested happened then it would have gone to zero for that massive discount
@@J75Pootle I mean it was just a theory and we don’t even know if the picture is legit. Also I DIDN’T say the number would be less than one AFTER subtracting 30%. But I’m stupid so I’m most definitely in the wrong.

1:53 Yoo the librarian just nodded his head in disappointment; probably got fed up with the function scripts and became self aware HA!
It seems like a rounding error happened with either a glitched minimum or no minimum accounted for. Such as if the function that determines prices rounds down to nearest whole number and wasn't accounted for by or happens after the step that checks for minimum number for some reason.
prob faked since an absurdly high discount which would make the price negative since it's 2 - (number > 1)*2 as tested in the video sets it to 1 anyways

At first I thought.. "Why would they tell us not to google...."
But just before I saw the image it went to: "Oh.... THAT kind of inflation......."
I have a feeling that this would be a result of integer division as in many programing languages if you were to create a function that was to divide a integer by some value and you where to do something like 1/2 it would result in 0 as .5 is not a whole number and therefore is truncated to 0.
But Phoenix used the maximum discounts and it still rounded up to 1.
doesn't 5 and above round up instead of down?
@@Glorman69 Interesting PFP you got there
@@WistfuII mhm. It's charlie chaplin in a brown suit
@@Glorman69 there are many ways to convert float to int in programming, and only few of them respect rounding rules. The most simple method of direct type casting just throws away what's after decimal point. You need to explicitly use round function to actually mathematically round it to closest integer.
The air air trade was used a lot to create tradeless villagers in maps for a long time

I also guess that you can actually get this free item but emerald needs to be just present.

Tbh, the "Air for Air" trade could be useful for, per say, a map where you need to hide an item. You can hide a trade under a giant amount of air trades and only those who scroll long enough will find it.
