Motorcycle Tour of The "Wales 360" - Episode 3

- Our final episode of our Wales tour takes in the delights of the lovely seaside town of Beaumaris and it's spectacular castle, we drink in one of the oldest pubs in Wales before we take a detour off the official 360 route to enjoy the sublime Llanberis Pass. Our plan to stop off at the famous Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel was scuppered by Covid - met a couple of intrepid cyclists who live near Chamonix in France (Apologies to them because we took their card and misplaced it so couldn't recall their names! If you're reading this, please drop us a line with your details). We experienced some very changeable weather conditions over Pen-Y-Pass! Betws-Y-Coed was as busy as ever and our route through Blaenau to get to Bala took us well into the low cloud base! Our hotel in Bala was a real find with terrific food and drink. Sadly, we left Wales in the glorious sunshine we'd been hoping to have the whole trip! Our final stop (After the 360 was complete) was in the delightful, historic town of Ludlow in Shropshire and another castle to explore! All in all, mixed weather but a great tour despite that! I came across your superb video diary after searching for the Wales 360. It is an absolute credit to you (and your editing skills, I need to practice that!) We're off to Wales in June this year, starting from Barnsley South Yorkshire to a caravan park in Rhyl. We won't have time to do the entire 360 as we're using the caravan as a base and doing different rides every day. The stars of the show will be my Yamaha Tracer 900, a Benelli TRK502 and a Kawasaki Ninja 650. We're all looking forward to a great week on great roads. Thanks for sharing this.

I have never rode a bike! but I wish I had, this is the best bike touring vid (3 vids) I have ever saw, You captured Fab views on your 2 wheels as you are going along, ahh I wish I could duplicate.
Wales has got to be the best place to tour on a bike, ok ok, your weather was not good, but it was still FAB.

Another fabulous video! We actually live 28ks from a town called Welshpool (and the nearby Port Welshpool). It's a quick run to grab a coffee and fish and chips.

loved this series. I only live an hour from Ludlow and have never visited. So this weekend doing the Angel Ludlow for Coffee o' beer a clock :)). I am prepping a Bala 250 route, its a beautiful route around the North East of Wales.. some very lonely roads with jaw dropping views. My equipment test as I have a couple of new toys including a phone gimbal :))) for Our Scotland Isle of Skye tour this year. I can always rely on your channel for beer 0'clock :))) ❤🩹💯🤓🙏🤳🤳

One of my favourite places to visit. I'm going to have to do the Wales 360. Unfortunately my wife doesn't ride but she's happy on pillion.
We have a totally bonkers Springer Spaniel and it's difficult to leave her behind as she loves the beaches in Wales.

Just spent a few days in Shropshire and the Marches, great roads and weather until I rode back home to Northumberland in torrential rain. I used Ludlow as a starting point and did rides based on those in ‘Bikers Britain’ by Simon Weir.

got to love wales. done most of it , apart from Anglesey. last bike trip got as far as Caernarfon an did stop over there for night , before heading back to midlands .

Excellent little mini series 👌 better than telly! Doesn't this show, though, how the typical biker has changed? These days they're reviewing cuisine - back in "my day" your typical Ogri-biker wasn't even ALLOWED in a restaurant, he'd just just eat his chips in the bus shelter with a can of pale ale and a woodbine!

A great final episode. Shame about the weather because the A4212 is one of the best roads in North Wales, oh and the B4391 from Ffestiniog to the A4212 (AKA the top gear road) is also fantastic, although you do need decent visibility. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, probably because it is fairly local to me, great camera work Brian, and keep up the hotel reviews.

Great video as usual. Next stop Wild Atlantic Way. But, if you take the ferry into Dublin ,do not travel West before visiting the historic and stunningly beautiful Glendalough area in Wicklow, just South of Dublin.

Great series and fabulous trip Brian and Sue, despite some inclement weather; you have to ride bad weather to fully appreciate good weather and as Sue said, it helps to improve your skills. We've ridden some of those roads but not the west coast and not Anglesey, so we may well do this trip and add some points further south e.g. Aberystwyth, St Davids, etc. Thanks as ever for the hotel ratings, these are really useful. That was another brilliant travelogue episode of Wales and a memory shaker too as I remembered a lot of these roads and great to reminded of them as the last two years of the Welsh Rally have been cancelled. You saw the stone circle this time at Bala at 23.09. Pity you had a bit of bad weather but enjoyed immensely Sue's judgement that it was character building. Hi guys. Love your diaries and your routes. Do you create your own routes, ie: drag & drop ? If so, could you reveal a little of how on a video please.
Thanks Ian! We create our routes in a very simple way - we have a destination in mind then go onto Google maps and then work out a route that we can achieve that will get us there by mid afternoon! We then just programe our sat navs accordingly! We’ve tried Garmin route planner but found it too difficult! 😀👍

Love the relentless pursuit of a decent coffee stop in all your vids. As someone who is 6ft 3, I do find difficulties with loft style hotel rooms (had a similar one last week!)
Shame the weather wasn't perfect but you've still put together a great vid and making vids ourselves can really appreciate how much work you've put into making these tour vids.
Thanks very much Richard! A good coffee is always important! 😂☕️ you must really struggle in some hotels! Luckily, we’re short arses 😀 but the Beaumaris room was a bit too small even for us 😳 . The weather can make a big difference - we all like a bit of sun - but in the UK you just have to suck it up! 😂🌧🥶🌞

Luckily you had your motorbike helmets with you in the first hotel room, the ceiling was so low that you would have had accidents 🤭. I want to thank you for sharing this beautiful video, believe me I have seen many videos on TH-cam, from the USA to Europe but the videos you make are of very high quality. If this were to be broadcast on the BBC or Belgian television, you would be surprised how many viewers you would have. Information, photos, presentation of the videos and not forgetting the beautiful music, everything is great. I have one more question, are you happy with the SHOEI helmets, my helmet is almost 10 years old, a Nolan helmet 🤭 and needs replacing. 👍❤😃👋

Looks great apart from the weather and it’s microclimates. We’ve stayed Penmachno (near Betwys y coed) a couple of time and when it’s been misty and drizzly up there it’s been beautiful on the coast. Would love to do it on 2 wheels, easier to reach than NC500

Enjoyable and relaxing video, well edited and makes me want to get the Honda out but it's raining, oh wait the sun's out, hold on it's raining again, the pleasures of living in Wales eh? Recognised many of the towns and roads you visited, got done for speeding when leaving Bala if you can call 35mph speeding? Betws y Coed, it's just a nice place although always busy and the pizza number 7 from Hangin' Pizzeria is one of the best we've had and we've had a few on our foreign journeys. I just found your channel today, great informative videos thanks. I'm based near the west of the Brecon Beacons. I've done a few local videos if you care to have a look. I think the roads are better here in Carmarthenshire than Snowdonia but Snowdonia beat us on scenery as beautiful as it is in South Wales.

Hi, at approximately 34 minutes as you are climbing the steps of the castle, there is some very heavy breathing which almost sounds a bit like sexy time, or maybe it's just my imagination! Have a listen and let me know whether you agree. 😂
😂😂😂 you’re right! I actually added the heavy breathing during editing ! It was a long climb up those stairs - much too exhausted for “sexy time” 😂

Another great episode. Some great ideas for destinations. We have just moved our Picos trip in Sept for the second time to Sept next year 😢. It’s just not worth the hassle atm. So back to the drawing board for a tour in the UK. We went to Ludlow in May and would definitely return. Kind of reminded me of Windsor in places but nicer.

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries We had a fortnight in France on the Honda X11 years ago, rained so hard on our way down from Bolton to the south coast for the fast ferry I very nearly turned back, once in France we never had a drop of rain the whole time, loved the roads, villages and towns.
France is one of our favourite places to ride - it’s such a biker friendly country too! 😀👍
We also reluctantly moved our September Picos trip back another year, managed to book a week in Scotland but expecting it to be busy as I think everyone else has the same idea.

I'm a fairly new subscriber to your channel and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your tour of Wales, infinitely better viewing than Love Island which my other half insists on watching every night. How's the Tiger 900? Worth the change from the 800 and how comfy is it for all day riding?
Ok Steve, confession time - I watch Love Island too (and I make Bri watch it/ but don’t tell him I told you 😉) Thank you for watching the videos - we really love making them. I absolutely love the 900. I did wonder if it would be an extravagance as I was very fond of the xrt but it was one of my better decisions. In my opinion, It’s lighter, more responsive and just generally easier to ride but the seat is definitely not as comfortable as the 800. We stop regularly so it’s not a problem for me but as the seat is heated, it’s not currently possible to change it and if you have a boney butt, it might be more of a problem 😄👍

I've noticed that you always rate the parking. Is theft that big of a problem? Here in the USA most wouldn't even give parking a thought. And at some point your fellow countryman need to put an end to the tyranny from "Public Servants".
We rate the parking mainly for how convenient it is for bikes but also bike theft can be a problem in some cities unfortunately , although not so much in smaller towns and villages 😀👍
