Probably because the waypoint pathing doesn't take you past him, but close enough to trigger the radiant event. So, for those players, he dies a few screens away without them knowing.

You can actually get into his estate before finding out where he is even without broken commands by jumping over the wall from the wooden railing on the stairs to the right of the usual entrance, sadly there are no enemies there and even though you can expect the bodies of dead women Geralt just doesn't react at all. You can also get in there the same way during the quest, but the only thing you gain from it is not having to fight 2 dudes at the entrance, which I feel like is a bit irrelevant since you need to kill a dozen more inside the estate anyway.

I’ve played the game multiple times and in three of my playthoughs Zdenek always fights immortal bandits. I’ve tried to help him in this fight but nothing happend.
I always take Cleaver's offer because I don't like to have failed quests in my journal, however I just let the dwarves outside and deal with everything peacefully. The casino and the arena can be completed peacefully that way and Cleaver's quest doesn't fail. I don't remember which line Geralt says though but considering the guards don't recognise him and that you can just get in saying you're there for the new girls I guess he get the paceful option, even when the dwarves attack the arena because that always happens.
A small creepy thing. If you use Aard to blow the hanged body in Whoreson's room, the body will turn around but always face to you wherever you are. That a bit scared me.
Great video as always! Btw, I would love to see the video about different ways to get into Putrid Grove. I've only done it using the most direct route. Would love to see the other ways.
Never thought there would be a living Zdenek to begin with, not just a corpse always at the same spot. Taking Cleavers Offer just gives you the option to attack with backup, you can still go in alone if you want. He also pays half if you use his guys in one place but not the other, or nothing for both without them.
3:08 i think this line of Geralt is one of his most bad ass threatning lines and he was ANGRY calm ANGER. when i had this dialog i thought Whoreson would say something bad and Geralt would just go straightoff cutting his head in one clean cut.
I always run the dialogue to this response, and tbh I did not know there was any other way to take it. "The last drop in a chalice of sorrow" is a classic.
I still remember my first playthrough, when I finally got to Junior. The scene was beautiful. I could not wait to threaten/kill him. The whole dialogue and background music was beautiful. I still can't believe anyone would ever spare him (even knowing the outcome), I can never bring myself to do it.
I met the english voice actor for Geralt and I had to laugh when he pronounced my name correctly. It took me a moment to realize... He's had practice. He's one of the two nicest voice actors I've ever had the pleasure of working with (I was running the Greenroom at a convention he was at).
My moral code for Geralt always involves bloody mayhem. Whoreson has to meet his demise. I don't understand how Geralt could let him live after his twisted urges left so many women tortured, debased and dead. Geralt kills him quickly and cleanly which is far better than he deserves.
Yeah, Zdenek is really buggy. Luckily, I managed to find him dead in my last playthrough when I was trying some weird workarounds for a few mission objectives failing (notably, you can't have it all green and do The Gangs of Novigrad simultaneously), but every previous time I remember him actually fighting Whoreson's henchmen forever, as if he was immortal. I don't remember being able to go through the secret passage just because I know it though. But, here's a bonus - you can actually enter his house without talking to the two guards or going through the passage. It is tricky, but possible to jump over the walls in at least one spot. :)
I've done the arena peacefully and I've done the casino peacefully, but never in the same run, so I didn't know there was a secret entrance to his place. Thanks for sharing!
Have been playing the Witcher 3 for over a year now and I gotta say thank you Letalis for all the work you put into these videos! They've made me realise how choices in this game matter and how it is the greatest game (imo).
Great video, I didn't know you can go to Junior in so many ways. Since I did just one playtrough, I did it only the "kill'em all" way. I had no idea you could do it in so many ways. So cool.
This bunch of quests is actually one of the hardest (if not *the* hardest) in the entire game to get completed without a single failed objective... but it can be done, and I have done so in the past. Just can't remember the exact order of things off the top of my head. I actually wanted to go for a "perfect" run - meaning, not a single failed objective overall - but alas, there's two quests that auto-fail stages and have to be "fixed" or altered via mod. Anyways, it's just how a completionist like me gets by on his spare time :D and thanks to you and videos like these, I'm never really running out of things to check off the list. :D
I don't remember the stuff with Zdenek but I do remember one time having done this "peaceful path" just because I didn't like Cleaver and wanted to play Gwent inside the casino 😂
In my recent 2nd playthrough, I tried to go through the secret entrance to Juniors, I think directly after talking to Radovid, the grate was shut and Geralt said, "Damn, locked. They must be expecting me." or something similar, and I had to do it the aggro way.
Except Zdenek, I did all that lol. On my first playthrough, I did the peaceful way to get to Junior, also, you can only go to the Sewer and fight and Junior will also appear even if yo didn't do or go to the Casino. Happened to me on my playthrough. Great video!
one thing i love about this game is how differently the same quest(s) can go at each different time mostly not even doing it on purpose and the outcome always changes and you see new stuff
In my playthrough Zdenek was immortal and locked in a unending brawl against the bandits. Tried to kill the bandits to end the fight, but they were also immortal, so they fought for the whole playthrough.
"Where's the entertainment?" "I am," said the white-haired, 6'+, heavily scarred dude with cat's eyes and two swords on his back. I'd pay for that - well, technically I did when I bought the game, but I'd pay again! Get Junior is one of my absolute favourite quests, aside from the Gangs of Novigrad confusion. There's so many different ways to play, things to do, details to figure, I love it! My only complaint is that, although Geralt will ask about Rico when meeting his dad and brothers later, it doesn't work the other way round, with Geralt getting Rico up to speed with the family business and urging him to leave Novigrad's underworld and go back to harvesting honey.
Junior's henchman: where are the women? Where's the entertainment? Geralt: *I'm it* To this day there are still some badass lines from him i haven't heard
It's not just you Letalis, last time I went that way, Zdenek had engaged in a duel that would last forever with the guards. Both were immortal for some reason.
I work with a nurse who looks like Junior but in the utmost irony is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and a great nurse. Him and I helped a woman who was too sick to go to her son’s wedding by decorating her room and having her on a tablet so she could be there with him.
Zdenek's stuck for me since I first played the game honestly. Was actually wondering about it! Anyway love your work. It is amazing how there are still things to talk about in this game!!!
Yesterday I played the Zdenek part. just when I got close to the location, the bandits who killed him passed by me. Since they were represented by red dots on the mini map I killed them. And I found Zdenek dead and took his ''laissez-passer'' for the Arena.
one major issue with the witcher 3 in general that annoys me to this day are the red X on objectives when you decide to go with the alternative or explore the , some red X marks are even impossible to avoid legit unless you use some glitch, Junior's long boring mission comes in mind when it comes to this issue
Had that Zdenek bug in my recent playthrough, no amount of going back to older saves fixed it. He was constantly fighting the bandits and no matter what I did I couldn't stop it as they were all immortal.
I've had the same problems with Zdenek, though I've also noticed that sometimes zdenek and the badits are invincible and just continune fighting forever. 1 fix for this was trying to intervene and killing the bandits, and then (for god knows what reason) Zdenek just dies. I didn't attack him, but after killing the badits Zdenek just falls over and dies. (this has happened several times for me, over many different playthroughs) thought you might be interested! Also: I have 3 friend who have played TW3 and only 1 of them was able to recreate it. The other 2 couldnt even kill the bandits so idk if its different from computer to computer, but its really weird . . . Love from Poland to Bulgaria!
Dunno if still relevent, I just ever my first play through a couple of days ago and went straight to the arena, skipped the casino, not knowing that I couldn't go back to the casino. I entered the arena by impersonating that guy, it worked all normal and choose "the peaceful" option.
ok so i specifically remember having those zednek thugs be present trying to punch an immune zedneck, they appear as enemy red dots on map and you can fight them where they go down to 0 hp but still somehow do not die, just keep punching air with 0 hp. another entity that did this was imlerith in battle of kaermorhen, when the phase of horseriding back to castle happens after triss's meteor you can stay a while and eventually imlerith will follow you to the front yard of the castle. you can actually beat him there down to 0 hp and the fight is exactly like the one on top of bald mountain with imlerith having 2 stages but after reaching 0hp he does not die and keeps doing his teleport and mace bash move
We can enter from the sewers???? I always entered the villa like a gentleman from the front door with blades full of blood. The things you teach us man !
In my very first playthru Zdenek worked fine. In every subsequent playthru he was bugged. I seem to remember talk about him getting bugged in a patch update and was never fixed.
You won't believe it, but my friend (who, incidentally, introduced me to the Witcher in general, but a looong time ago) asked me just the other day: how do you accept the Cleaver's quest and don't fail it, and yet do some parts on your own, because those are less boring :) and I tried to answer using my usual all-over-the-place style. But if you cleared this part up, I think, it would be very helpful, even for people who have already been through this once or twice :)
I did this recently because I wanted to do 100% run without failed quests, and basically what you do is you talk to the dwarves so that they go to the alley. Then go into the casino without them, get to the top where the guy is tied/gagged up, kill the bandits but don't untie or talk to him at all. Go back downstairs, and leave at least 1 thug alive by luring them into the top floor, freeze them or use axii, and then run outside the casino. Then talk to the dwarves in the alley. You'll go back to the casino, and all the thugs will be respawned to kill, and after that you won't fail either part.
@@gqqggq7127 you don't need to do that. All you need to do is talk to cleaver to activate the quest, do the casino the peaceful way then tell the dwarves you've already done it and don't need them, do the same again with the arena. Go to cleaver and he won't pay you anything but the quest is complete not failed.
you know, i'm not entirely sure... what you can try is using his men's help for 1 location and do the other yourself, or try to leave the casino before you've talked to Rico and then talk to the dwarves
@@xLetalis what I did was clear the casino with the dwarves (never knew there was a peaceful way, so thanks for this video), then talk to Rico and do the arena on my own. Cleaver is pissed at the end, but the quest doesn't fail. So that's what I advised. But if you made a video about all the possible combinations, like you suggested here, the matter would be solved once and for all )

I've done the arena peacefully and I've done the casino peacefully, but never in the same run, so I didn't know there was a secret entrance to his place. Thanks for sharing!
my pleasure ;]
Have been playing the Witcher 3 for over a year now and I gotta say thank you Letalis for all the work you put into these videos! They've made me realise how choices in this game matter and how it is the greatest game (imo).
Great video, I didn't know you can go to Junior in so many ways. Since I did just one playtrough, I did it only the "kill'em all" way. I had no idea you could do it in so many ways. So cool.
Never actually done the guns blazin' route. Maybe it's time!
And again, the details on this game! Thanks again for another amazing vid Let
Zdeneck goes into John Wick mode, fighting back three bandits with bare hands
This bunch of quests is actually one of the hardest (if not *the* hardest) in the entire game to get completed without a single failed objective... but it can be done, and I have done so in the past. Just can't remember the exact order of things off the top of my head. I actually wanted to go for a "perfect" run - meaning, not a single failed objective overall - but alas, there's two quests that auto-fail stages and have to be "fixed" or altered via mod. Anyways, it's just how a completionist like me gets by on his spare time :D and thanks to you and videos like these, I'm never really running out of things to check off the list. :D
I believed I’ve done everything but helping cleaver. I didn’t even think that I had found all the possible ways to approach the mission
I got this by accident and did a quick search to see if you made a video about it
Of course you did
Love how the talking route makes Geralt sound like an extreme introvert.
Im supprised I fund almost every secret you showed on this channel in my first playthrough.
Didn't know there are other ways to get in Putrid Grove. Definitely looking forward to that video!
The transition of that thumbnail and the 1st frame of the video tho
My favorite way to play this quest is the same as most quests, : "w/finesse ", (Yell A A A A while killing anything w/a red bar above their heads)
I don't remember the stuff with Zdenek but I do remember one time having done this "peaceful path" just because I didn't like Cleaver and wanted to play Gwent inside the casino 😂
Me: enters a room full of Whoreson's victims
Also me: "Let's add another corpse"
"Where are the women? Where's the entertainment?!"
I'm it.
"Take him from the back!"
FUCKING LOL
8:54 The head has to be my absolute favourite glich and clip I have ever seen in this game
Excellent video from a guy who has done such a big research revealing the secrets of the game!!
Olgard and Vick 😅 Referencing one of the most interesting NPCs in the game.
Gotta go pray to Melitele Letalis never runs out of video ideas
hmm I think so
Played that moment for a week ago. It still works to present yourself as Zdenek.
I didn’t actually know you could side with cleaver
Zdenek is bugged on my side, except he's dead and there is an everlasting fight over his dead corps
Love that "Zdenek" either is the sama Zdenek" from Witcher 1/2 or that he is a refrence to the previous games fighting champion
Junior's henchman: where are the women? Where's the entertainment?
Geralt: *I'm it*
To this day there are still some badass lines from him i haven't heard
It's not just you Letalis, last time I went that way, Zdenek had engaged in a duel that would last forever with the guards. Both were immortal for some reason.
Never knew you were a fellow Bulgarian :D . Поредицата на Вещерът от Сиела. Respect.
I work with a nurse who looks like Junior but in the utmost irony is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and a great nurse. Him and I helped a woman who was too sick to go to her son’s wedding by decorating her room and having her on a tablet so she could be there with him.
Great vid, as usual. Thanks!
I haven’t heard English version of that game for a long time, and now am I the only one to see how many people in this game have Scottish accent?
Zdenek's stuck for me since I first played the game honestly. Was actually wondering about it! Anyway love your work. It is amazing how there are still things to talk about in this game!!!
Finding these what-if scenarios are hard work
befor quest i found zdenek fighting bandits but forever, nobody can kill nobody and even geralt cant harm them
i was actually able to get this peaceful path through my first playthrough of the game.
feel so happy about it now that i'm watching this video.
When I finished the quest choosing the violent path, there was a blood moon rising in my time indicator next to my Minimap
Zdenek in one of my playthroughs was already dead and in one he fought the guards but no one was dying they just kept fighting
Always failed Cleaver's quest because got aggravated. Thanks for the review of these quests!!
Had that Zdenek bug in my recent playthrough, no amount of going back to older saves fixed it. He was constantly fighting the bandits and no matter what I did I couldn't stop it as they were all immortal.
Geralt: Busts through the wall with Yennefer right behind him.
Thugs: Where are the women!
Yennefer: 😤
Damn you Letalis for putting that clip at the end lol
I always did it this way because I felt like it'd be stupid to ask about junior directly lol
Every single time I’ve done the quest, Zdenek is killed as I walk up and the bandits flee. Every single time. I’ve never seen anything else happen
ok so i specifically remember having those zednek thugs be present trying to punch an immune zedneck, they appear as enemy red dots on map and you can fight them where they go down to 0 hp but still somehow do not die, just keep punching air with 0 hp. another entity that did this was imlerith in battle of kaermorhen, when the phase of horseriding back to castle happens after triss's meteor you can stay a while and eventually imlerith will follow you to the front yard of the castle. you can actually beat him there down to 0 hp and the fight is exactly like the one on top of bald mountain with imlerith having 2 stages but after reaching 0hp he does not die and keeps doing his teleport and mace bash move
I you wish you never run out of witcher 3 videos
8:53 this flying head is killing me all the time
Damn! lot of things I didnt know in this video. thanks and great job!
We can enter from the sewers???? I always entered the villa like a gentleman from the front door with blades full of blood. The things you teach us man !
Some more videos on juniors quest would be cool. It's probably the one I remember the least about and kinda rushed through on all my playthroughs.
I did the peaceful route with the arena tournament at my playthrough. I didn't know the bloody route is more popular.
Not every bandit has his day. Very cool save reload.
Whenever I find Zdenek he’s stuck fighting the thugs forever.
I storm into Junior’s Places because if you don’t you’ll fail the Cleaver’s quest .
You can Get inside of Junior’s House Without talking to Guards even if you came all why not peacefully but it’s like a glitch.
But if you made a video about all the possible combinations, like you suggested here, the matter would be solved once and for all )
i always felt that the violent way is what Geralt would do seeing as Ciri is in danger
Heh-Nice to actually see what Zdenek actually looks like-I've played more playthroughs than I can count and never seen him alive-always just a pile of loot to get (not even a body) and of course the bandits to deal with-very interesting-Long time watcher, 1st time commenting though-u r the man Letails
In White Orchard, when Yen arrives with the Nilfgardian escort, we can see that Geralt sniffs a little just to confirm the smell of lilac and gooseberries.
no wonder novigrad felt overwhelming in my first playthrough there's hundreds of things to do and find
Every time since my first walkthrought I'm doing this "peacefully" variation. Can't believe someone don't know this option
The one where you fight in the arena was the way I went without knowing it was the most peaceful one lol
