As far as I know heat pads/mats are best installed on the side of the enclosure because scorpions will dig down to escape the heat. Probably not a huge problem since the heat mat only covers such a small part of the bottom, but still something to think about maybe ;)
scorpions burry to escape heat, they dont recognize that burrying is no option to escape the heat. Maybe consider putting it on the side of the terrarium to avoid potencial overheating of your animals.
As a fellow keeper, that really sucks, I know the feeling, and all we can do is learn from the loss, and design our environments better. Far too bad, and it seems you are in Europe, so, I understand it is more difficult to find new specimens. Good luck, I look forward to seeing more from your channel. Cheers.
i wish you would have left the black sand in! I think the scorpion would have looked cool on it and also I loved the contrast in the two halves (light sand vs black)
I'm guessing you've already heard dude, but I just saw the news! New species described. They found 4 new tarantulas! They're quite good looking the ones I've seen.
Super sad about the passing of your beloved scorpion 😢❤ Also I'm so so sorry for the hate comments about your parenting. Your doing a good job, your the most safe keeper I've seen compared to other venomous keepers online 👍🏻🕷️🦂🕸️
Some of them are just not smart, my friend has lost two from really strange dumb occasions. One died from drowning in the most shallowed dish she had and the scorpion was bigger than the dish and the other one died the same way as petkos one did... Some spiders also die strangely
Awe Petko I'm so sorry! I actually breed these guys but I'm located in the US otherwise I'd offer you some scorplings. If it makes you feel better, I've had some things like this happen; including a heater that shorted and actually caught fire once- needless to say the occupant did not survive that.
I had many snakes and frogs and feeder rats in my house w my kids. If u teach them how to respect the creatures they will know not to touch it and have the knowledge to care for them as well Love the content
Deathstalkers have a habit to die on freak accidents. My stalker drowned in a small bottle cap (watering dish), even though it was two times larger than the bottle cap. 🫤
At first I thought you had lost it and I almost panicked given you have a small child. So as bad as it's sounds, I'm relieved it's 'gone' in the sense of 'dead'. Still sucks that that happened :/ Stay safe with those deadly critters!
Iam from Germany and i like the video with youre voice more than the german Ai Translation. Is there a chance for me to see the video in original, maybe a setting ?
For anyone saying its wrong, or I wouldn't keep anything venomous with my kids in the house you guys have to understand venomous doesnt always mean bad. A bee is venomous but most people dont think about it like that. The only thing to worry about is allergies, and how venomous the pet can be obviously you dont wanna house super deadly ones there, but other ones are mild. Also you can make tanks locks for these guys if you want.
Your the only nice person saying this. The others just have no idea who is petko who knows about safety. Especially scorpions and spiders, so sad seeing the bad parenting comments on this video😢 I'm just sad about the death of the death stalker.
U can get eight the mini bulbs and even just get the mini ceramic bulb and u cud even do it in the very back corner on an angel so that the bulb is as close to the right top back corner so it's covering the two on the right
animal got stuck and died? clearly a hydration issue joke aside, its sad that it died because of... i assume environmental damage? i guess it will be a learning experience for all the upcoming enclosures you'll make. shit happens...
Never leave your daughter unattended with any of your animals, even when she becomes an adult. Any freak accident can happen and one of your least venomous could still have a major effect if she has allergies. Best to not find out at all in my opinion
@PorciniOmelet 18+ yes lol. She will more than likely still be living at home and have a curiosity about these things at that age. I'm 27 and I see an interesting animal or bug, I usually pick it up and inspect it if warranted
@@MySingleNamethat sounds like a you thing…. My son is 5 and even he can follow the simple direction of “don’t touch.” An adult can 100% follow that rule.
@@buffruhdy Not just a me thing. It's called human curiosity. A 5 year old yes can follow simple instructions from an adult but without supervision, shit happens. What's your point? There are venomous snake handlers and so on, does that mean they should just stop handling the things they work with? I have a genuine fascination with wildlife, particularly insects. So I tend to handle them when I know it's appropriate...
@@MySingleName exactly, when you know it’s appropriate. Every adult will know not to handle or open terrariums without the owner present because that behavior is inappropriate. Should you lock up your animal room when you have a toddler? Probably. But when your kid becomes an adult they can absolutely assess risk and follow the directions of their parents. It’s silly to imply Petko needs to lock his animal room when his daughter is an adult.
Oh come on now petko please tell me u know a lock is not going to stop a kid it never stopped me and I'm sure it never stopped u ur best bet is teach teach teach involve her as much as u can (obviously only if she is interested) but I think u still shud show he regardless and teach her how to properly do things so she knows it takes away the allure of it like when u were a kid and no. Or dad said not to do something and u went and did exactly what they said not to just Bec!!! It is the same take the exciding part out of it don't make it a no go area Bec that will make any kid really want to go there
Heh, ofc that I will teach her when she is big enough. Until I can trust her to go out alone, I can't trust her to not mess with potentially deadly animals. And yeah, if the only basement key is on me at all times, I'm positive she won't enter inside!
Probably best not keep anything poisonous then either, like bleach, dish detergent, drain cleaners, or medicines. Tens of thousands of people die from ibuprofen every year after all. And way more die in car crashes so probably best not to have one of those either. Either that or get off your high horse and realize that it has nothing to do with morals, that could be an option too.
@TheDarkDen well then it's a cellar, not a basement. your garage is separate but a basement is a subterrain level beneath a house. if you're walking into a hole in the ground to enter then cool. if you take a staircase from the first floor down to a sublevel that is connected to your house. please don't build another terrarium until you understand these basic things.
As far as I know heat pads/mats are best installed on the side of the enclosure because scorpions will dig down to escape the heat. Probably not a huge problem since the heat mat only covers such a small part of the bottom, but still something to think about maybe ;)

Thanks! The heat mat is really weak and glass only gets slightly warm to the touch, but will switch to bulb anyway!

I agree, maybe I'll switch the spiders sand to black :D
Sorry for your loss Petko! Hope to see another Deathstalker in the Dark Den in the near future!
Heck yeah I freaking love the scorpion content. Your style of keeping inverts of any kind always amazes me
Use the excavator clay as mortar to hold the rocks together. Doesn’t have to cover it, just tack it down on to the mating surfaces.
Im getting a scorpion but I do not know how to look after one
Then dont get one😅
inform yourself first :s
Love how you set this one up. The wood is a nice touch.

Sorry For Your Loss.. Happy New Year Petko
Habistat make a radiator panel. I use them with my corn snakes. They’re about 2.5cm thick.

Sorry about the death stalker. That’s a bummer. Scorpion content is always appreciated 😏
I was wondering when watching a previous video if something heavy could come lose and crush the occupant.
Some of them are just not smart, my friend has lost two from really strange dumb occasions. One died from drowning in the most shallowed dish she had and the scorpion was bigger than the dish and the other one died the same way as petkos one did...
Some spiders also die strangely
I’m so sorry Petko! What a bummer! I hope the New Year brings some good cheer your way! 🫶🏻🤎
Sorry about your loss
Death has come to the Deathstalker.
the deathstalker really should have wated that movie, 127 hours. it'd have known what needed to be done
For real. Most crustaceans can willingly detach a limb for survival so I'm kinda surprised scorpions can't.
Hey just suggesting but I think a velvet spider would be a great addition
Hello great video information and rehousing Petcko

Its always hard to have a soul leave your care
I'm so sorry for the loss
I'm sorry that your scorpion died. I am happy that you made a video though.
You always make me feel better about being a pet owner. Sometimes accidents happen and that's ok. Thank you :)
I had many snakes and frogs and feeder rats in my house w my kids. If u teach them how to respect the creatures they will know not to touch it and have the knowledge to care for them as well
Love the content
I am sorry for your loss! But at first I was scared that it was an escape not a death… that would have not been good aswell
How long do they live naturally?
No idea!
Nice scorpion content 👍
So sorry! 😢 Poor little guy
Why didn’t you put the heat mat on the top, like above the scorpions? I have no experience with them, so this could be a totally stupid question…
It is a really weak heat mat
yeah, def need more scorpion content!

Awh! Sorry dude! (I say dude to everyone) That’s a bummer!
deathstalkers are the hamsters of the exotic pets
@@strayorion2031 Ah that explains the behavior of mine
Sorry to see that for you
Okay, scorpions scare the beejeebees out of me, but still, that was so sad :(
I'm sorry for the lost. Can you make a l trica care guide?
Hmm, I see that it's a typo but I have no idea what you wanted to write!
Sorry for your loss .
RIP Deathstalker until you rise again.. ahahahah(evil laugh) now he is a part of Mortal Combat 😏
Heatmats shout be on the side of the enclosure.
this one is really weak
Well, that does suck. Was it as expensive as some spider species are to get ahold of?
Deathstalker hurt itself in its confusion!
death stalker got stalked by death... ill show myself out.

I didn't know that feature is already live!
Poor little guy! 😢 I hope he didn't suffer!🦂💜
Great video
OH NOOO !!
RIP scorpion u shall be missed
Just take a lamp with less power like 20W or something 🤷🏽
still too close!
Sorry for your scorpion death.😢
That was a bad rock placement imo
well, now I know
dont think you will need to lock up the door
better safe than sorry, kids love to do stupid things :D
Hi
Sorry for your loss but PLEASE, remove that stone where it got stuck! 😮
it's no longer against the glass
Uh oh !!!
Thats sad
Man, it is a shame such a deadly and gorgeous creature died.
😢

I'm just sad about the death of the death stalker.
can you do bigger encolours those poor animals are in tiny boxes its the same is you being locked in a 6 by 6 room.
they don't care about the space as long as they have food, hide and adequate temperature...you can't compare them with mammals
U can get eight the mini bulbs and even just get the mini ceramic bulb and u cud even do it in the very back corner on an angel so that the bulb is as close to the right top back corner so it's covering the two on the right
I wonder if maybe it was old age, since the majority of scorpions usually live less than 10yrs 🤔
nah, it still wasn't an adult size I think

Do you have bots commenting on this video man? There are two suspicious ones in here…

At this point like 80% of the internet is bots. You're likely a bot.
Can easily tell if it's a bot if the account was made a few hours, day, or two ago.
