Of course we wouldn't permanently kill one of our most popular characters." (Quotes are about what I remember - not direct.) But when Captain America died I remember a Marvel editor saying, (something to the effect of) He's dead, it's him, it's Steve Rogers, it's not a clone, not a copy, "not a Skrull." ("Not a Skrull" IS an exact quote.) When Captain Marvel died, there was much respect, it was a wonderful story, and mostly they've respected that. When Jean Grey died, I always said, the Phoenix will return, and she did, but that event I believe they messed-up. Jason Todd... I love "Red Hood" but part of me still thinks he should have stayed dead. And for all those folks who are saying that this "hero's returning" is a recent trend, I say bah! First off how many times have the villains come back? Emperor Ming? Fu Man Chu? The Joker? And in the seventies a group of comic-loving friends and I (two went on to work at Marvel, one works at ILM) played a game "Villains and Vigilantes," and we'd often invoke, or comment on rule 3.1 (I may be slightly off on the number... hey it's been 40 plus years, eh) which basically said dead heroes come back. Personally I would have had Jane go to Valhalla and have the tempest possess her body while deceiving Thor and the others and letting them think that Jane is alive . I think it would have lead to a lot more drama and it would have made for A better ending to this arc.
Like how metals are melted into a liquid when you apply heat from a flame, it's be reasonable to assume the melting point for the hammer would be the same as the thing that forged it.
Her getting resurrected is the biggest story ruiner I've seen in comics. How dumb can you be to not cure yourself with magic when it's possible to do, to be close to the only person to be able to do it from midguard. Yikes. She should have stayed dead. The ending was perfect, now they made it into a turd.

Honestly if they wanted to keep her around all they had to do was have her become part of the Exile program. Characters taken from the moment of their death or that of their universe, working to fix broken universe and time lines so that one day they may repair their own or find one they could call home. Honestly I think if they had an avengers team like that it would be epic. A reminder that the original Exiles team included. I actually liked Jane foster as Thor, but fuck that ending. I know people always come back in comic books, but it usually takes several months even years. She came back IN THE SAME ISSUE. It would've been more satisfying for us readers if she finally entered vahalla after all her suffering. It would've been a better ending for those who have loved ones coping with Cancer in their own lives because they'd know their afterlife is peaceful.

I actually liked Jane foster as Thor, but fuck that ending. I know people always come back in comic books, but it usually takes several months even years. She came back IN THE SAME ISSUE. It would've been more satisfying for us readers if she finally entered vahalla after all her suffering. It would've been a better ending for those who have loved ones coping with Cancer in their own lives because they'd know their afterlife is peaceful.
