Wayne Brown is doing a great job for Auckland. So refreshing to hear someone tells things as they are
No. He's useless and incompetent.
Well done Wayne, keep up the good work.
A down to earth guy elected for his honesty in calling out the absolute wastage of money in Auckland. Councilors want to get on board and back him and get this major city sorted.
Good on you Wayne, go for it 👍
Thanks Platform NZ for allowing us to have our voices heard.
Wayne as one of the many Auckland rate payers. Thank you. You have my vote. Sell the bloody share's from the airport. Let's keep the rates low, services, intact as much as you can. And slim down people in offices, more workers on the streets, is better than a paper shuffler. Keep up the good work.
Nice to see he doesn't spend his time decorating (or ratepayer money redecorating) his mayoral office, just straight down to business.
If all politicians were as honest as this man we wouldn't be in the trouble the country is in
Thank you Wayne. I pay rates in Auckland and support the sale of all the Airport shares. Well done Sir.
Good on you Mayor Brown..you are on the ball👍
As a rate payer he is doing a great job media need to hardin up woke b s
That's exactly what we think, well put.
The fact that the comments are not turned off speaks volumes. Love your work Sean and Wayne
Yes, Newshub has no interest in providing a forum for discussion, even heavily censored as it is - _they_ engineer the narrative and enabling comments has the potential to undermine _their_ 'version' of the truth.
Wayne Brown is doing great 👍 job and started off hitting the facts head on
The media who put it out that the meeting was chaotic. No one listening to his presentation heard anything chaotic, rather straight up pragmatism was the order of the day. However the moaning members of the media just showed themselves up for fools.
He is good mayor. Full stop.
I like his second name
Len Brown and Phil Goff didn't have bad press about them and Auckland is in a bigger hole than when they started..
Mayor Brown just has to keep fighting for the ratepayers and not the slew of bureaucrats who want to leech off the public purse.. Get rid of the fluff, get back to the core role of the council!
Phil Goff made such a mess of Auckland he moved to London, Wayne Brown is there for the right reasons not the free lunch.
Would be good to see him have more success in clearing out the unnecessary staff
go wayne, as long as the corrupt leftist media are coping and seething, you have my full support
lmao, corrupt leftist media? The Platform is funded by a rich right wing family. It doesn't get more biased than that
I listened to Mayor Brown's press conference. I did not think it was a shambles. Budgets are complex and so many people just do not want to confront the truth. Auckland has an enormous debt and paying the interest alone on the debt costs the city millions every week. I would like to see an accurate statement of the city's debt and how much it costs us every day. I did hear the mayor give those figures towards the end of the his address, but I cannot find it reported anywhere. Can anyone advise where I can find these figures? Facts Matter.
Brilliantly said 🖐️👍👍🙏🙏thanks lots 🙏🙏🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
When the data is produced and other question is how was the money used?
If none of money was used to purchase the airport shares then that has been return income to the value of 720 m in total since 1999. The additional shares bought when share capital was increased 10 years ago or so we're at a price of 1.65. Not sure of total spend but dividends should reduced an debt directly linked the share purchase should be nil by now.
The government media has it in for Wayne brown he’s doing great job ,wellington needs him to fix the problems that are happening in the wcc
He's not toeing the party line - keep it up!
And the squandered millions on feel good cycle way projects that are wide enough they could easily accommodate a military battle tank. To be fair though, perhaps the City Council is planning for a future when ICE powered vehicles are all stacked up a mile high at the City dump.
What government media other than Radio NZ. Name them.
@@chrismckellar9350 Where do start with the left wing media. All of them.
@@JG-us9lu - What are their names other than TV1 and Radio NZ which are currently government owned.
first time i've listen to him , i like him.
I'm not sure why the NZH hasn't told Simon Wilson to tone it down a notch with his increasingly biased and personal-attack skewed articles. It seriously damages the Herald's brand when a senior journalist is allowed to blatantly write vitriolic and hyper-emotional stories claiming to be impartial.
Let him go for it if it helps people realise the truth.
Simon Wilson is an absolute arrogant Tosser. He thinks he knows everything about everything, totally opinionated and bias.
Anyone who reads the Herald is reading misinformation.
Because it is in the interest of NZH to " attack a person/in this case Wayne Brown as Mayor" - because they "did not want him as Mayor, they want the other "left leaning" fella - which obviously the rest of Auckland did NOT WANT. Simon Wilson, made this very clear in his articles even before the voting commenced. And he was not the only socialist minded" Auckland Citizen, that felt the same way and said the same thing.
They employ Shaneel Lal - say no more.
Go Wayne nice to see your standing up
You are awesome Wayne
I thought he was a plonker before, which is why I didn’t vote for him. He’s definitely a breath of fresh air though, and I’ll vote for his re-election.
He came across as a very frank, honest and responsible person to me. I voted for him and convinced another voter to do the same. Glad I wasn’t wrong 🙏🙇🏻♀️☺️🤩
there is hope for anyone who can keep on open mind , well done you
I laughed my head off the way news hub and tv1 got there nickers in a knot. Didn’t seem to be a problem when Jacinda did that sort of thing.
Exactly, well said.
To be fair she didn't all the media attended she just didn't ask them questions exactly what Wayne should be doing
@@mobbarley7517 I remember one she was doing and she didn’t like the media that were asking questions and she moved inside with her friendly media of choice and left the rest outside.
I voted for WB because of his history, trade in engineering, being result oriented. I trust his record and not the spin, woke, biased media, big techs, govt} marxists.
I voted for Wayne because the media don't like him
The last 4 terms of the mayorship have been Labour mayors
Wayne Brown is the mayor that was always meant to be when the super city was first mooted. Bring budgets under control, coordinate, and prioritize projects over the whole Auckland area, not just one little part doing its own thing or worse, not doing anything because it evolved, sharing cost with another part because it crossed boundaries. If you want to know why the rate had such a Huge increase since the super city was brought into being, that's it, oh and utter bureaucratic incompetence, and if you find a cure for that please tell us the whole world wants to know.
Wayne is a no Bullshit bloke and I like that he doesn't need to be liked.
💯 fresh air
Well done Wayne (-: Stella!!! voted Wayne to do the work and too date good job (always room for growth) lots of dongo journos (nozalstux-n-da-mud) baa baa baa news (my op watse fodder).
Praying for you and the Council team looking after Auckland. Voice of us align with praxis of Auckland Council ✓
Good on ya Mayor Brown
I wish we could have Wayne Brown for Prime Minister. We could get NZ great again for sure. I like him because he speak commen sense and has no time for stupid people. Not Woke.
Great work Wayne. Well done. Logic and common sense at last.
As a business man we see things coming. Pretty much sums up the problem we have in Wellington.
Wayne Brown for PM!
Good to see most of the Bought and paid for by the Government Media was not included at the Meeting 😊
Mate, The Platform is literally a bought and paid for right wing hack piece. The mental gymnastics at play in your head are impressive.
@@beeftan Wayne Brown for PM!
@@beeftan explain?
@@beeftan Damn good too, need some balance against all of this left wing woke msm stuff that is paid for with my taxes, much against my wishes.
@@beeftan yeah the fact the right can't see the platform are essentially the stuff or herald on the right defies belief
Given how the MSM media journalists behave today with their personal views constantly at the forefront of their pieces it is small wonder this mayor has kicked back. I listened to the pair on TV3 Newshub this morning and heard nothing but whining. Had a gutful of the one way censored news coming at us.
At least they don't constantly interrupt
@@MartinCraig-zt2sv 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 thats hilarious.
@@MartinCraig-zt2sv Hardly a glowing reference, when all they do is spout their own one sided beliefs now is it?
Good on you Wayne brown , you had a mandate to get the debt under control, and to try and keep the rates under control, the people voted him in to carry these two things out,
All power to Wayne brown , a bloody honest man!,,
Super to hear from Wayne Brown. Good guy!!!!
Sean I do like the show but could you please let Wayne brown finish his sentences so many damn journalist are such butinskees
Legend Wayne
Best mayor ever. Wound make an even better PM
We need a person like Wayne to clean out the leeches in the whakatane council
Wayne’s wanker radar is finely tuned to people like SLIMON WISLON AND CO who couldn’t lay straight in bed let alone report accurately 😜
Good on him wanting to sell airport shares, why keep them when your in debt..cant keep putting rates up...as for shutting the media out I dont know about that, it may come back to bite him in the bum...he needs to do something about the homeless...in fact all councils need to do something about it...
I don’t care who you sell the Airport to, provided it isn’t sold to Blackrock.
Well Jacinda was sold to Blackrock why not the airport.
@@JG-us9lu look at the harm she did, likely to go down as worst Labour MP in history, and I say this as someone who prefers Labour over National. Blackrock is one of the most evil companies in history as far as I’m concerned imagine them controlling the Airport.
The best decision I ever made in my life was investing in financial market. Trust me guys, it pays!😊
@keithjenkins540Great!! Is to know you are making progress Keep it up😊
With the consistent weekly profits I'm getting investing with Mrs Sarah, there's no doubt she's the most reliable in the market. Such a genius.
I was skeptical at first until I decided to try it's huge returns is awesome! I can't say much.
Sean, if you could stop talk over the end of the people you interview.
I think you would have had more than 180000 people voting for you Wayne if they knew what they know now. I didnt last time but definitely will at the next election.
The more the Left complain about him, the more one respects the man.
Unfortunately this day and age to get a head, people are conditioned to get into debt.
Print money, create more debt without thinking about the consequences of how that debt is paid back.
Sadly, it is the way of the world where only few have managed to detach from.
I love Wayne Brown. The snobby media don't like someone who doesn't pronounce their pronouns properly, I love someone who tells it like it is, fuk the pronouns!
Stuff are the worst for not allowing any decent on their opinion.
Pleased to see this, after the NZ Woke Herald beat up
How is NZ Herald woke when its is pushing centre content?
@@chrismckellar9350 Everything Mark dislikes is woke. It's his new word

I would have liked to hear more about the residential to business differential. Sell the airport shares, it makes sense, we may well get a better airport terminal sooner.
I doubt that, once an entity is privitised, then it's all about the bottom line, cut and slash services and return on investment for shareholders.
@@Kelle001 that does not happen when the service is a near monopoly and there is a continued demand for services.
Wayne is very refreshing , councillors with 'oldway' state of mind have effectively been given notice , hopefully Gore follows suit
interesting Fact: Pusan(Busan) is the fastest ever grown city, going from 400,000 people to 4,000,000 people in less than six months during the Korean war. It then stayed 4 million people, as the people who were involved in the defence of Pusan got patriotic about the place and stayed. In the eight months I lived there the sky was blue once, after four days of solid snow. On a bad day you could see 400 meters in the smog. Really nice and funny people, had a great time. Good on you Wayne you deserve your popularity and it is based on your competence , humour and honesty
Selling the shares makes sense, but why pay $150M to some broker to sell them for you?
And Simon Wilson never got over Efeeso losing, has been negative about everything so don't know why the Herald employs him.
Making the hard calls for the city. Which the people appreciate. Would like the mayor to work closer with the Police and help get the city safe again. I believe he'd help get the job done.
It appears Auckland councilors are wealthy so can afford high rates time for them to go Wayne u are on the right track listener your people
Try culling some of your staff who are just pen-pushers and nothing will be affected whether they are there or not there. How about putting out a standard form for every employee, to fill in and to let you know what she/he is responsible for and what would happen if they were not there?? How about that?? I would do that, as I used to be the purchasing manager for the biggest aluminum smelter in the world. Besides, I had a good position in the Fletcher's steel sector here in Auckland. I also studied British contract law. All the best for your tenure in Auckland.
Excellent idea lots of them are just filling their days attending meetings
There was a conference about a months ago the " National Maori Housing Conference". One of the speakers was Tania Pouwhare a General Manager talking about work of her departments function. I hope the department is not funded by council as it does not seem to be what council should be doing. People search to listen to her.
Surely its not okay for him to restrict the media even if theyve been doing it. Two wrongs dont make a right. I was hoping sean would have challenged him on principle
anyone - including media people who weren't in the room at the time - can view the full announcement on the herald's website, so nobody is being depriveed of anything
Sean I was interested to hear what he was going to say about the herald turning off the comments quickly, and you talked over him...
Normal people would do anything to remove bad debt but they expect the council and ratepayers to hold on to bad debt.. 🤔
We need serious solutions and not personality and popularity politics
Excluding any media from press conferences is always a good idea?
By excluding media is not democracy.
WHY WHY WHY have insurance if the government and council are going to buy your wrecked house.
House prices need to go down. Young people can't afford to buy a home and start a family. Those of us who already have homes or paid them off are buying and selling in the same market. If you bought when expensive, too bad. Bit youth need to be able to buy homes, otherwise they leave for Australia or elsewhere.
I've always wondered what the percentage of ratepayers is in Auckland compared with it's non rate paying population. Given that it's infrastructure can't cope with the ever growing amount of people and the mounting debt( which Wayne is trying address) surely there has to be a more equitable way of spreading tbe cost.
It would be nice if Sean could do a bit more listening and a lot less talking.
Yes to live debate on the 4th
Did anyone actually go to or watch the council budget meeting pt1 and pt2?? It doesn’t sound like it.
I see in the comments Cindy mentioned i wonder she still at the trough on fill wages
When did Reporters become known as Journalists?
There are likely to be several other municipalities around here that could well benefit from a Mayor of the caliber present in Aucklands Wayne Brown.
He keeps his powder dry and his nose Clean - can you dig that Miss Tory Whanau?
And now they have to buy out a proportion of the red stickered properties.
Was the "tall pasty-face man from one something" there?
Jack Tame mmm he's a good looking man..
Selling shares in airnz is not sustainable....
Neither is the interest on the debt that the income from selling the shares will pay off.
Auckland isn't a super city, it's small, There is queen street and K road and a few back streets in the CBD and that's about it. Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai, Chong Qing, Bejing, Guangzhou, New York, London etc are super cities. Auckland isn't a big city at all. Sydney and Melbournes CBD's are much bigger and they aren't called super cities. ps not including suburbs as part of the city.
it's called a super-city because of the amalgamation of several previous city councils & the regional council
@@kungfutzu3779 Yes, understand but it doesn't change the fact that it isn't a super city. It should just be called a city. Anyhow I guess they like to try promote the idea that it's bigger than what it really is.
@@tronwars7130 it's a correct use of the word "super" - like in superstructure, super rugby. it's not the only possible meaning of the word "super" but it's a legitimate one, distinguishing it from cities with a different constitutional arrangement, i.e. those which still fall withing a regional council area for instance. it doesn't mean it's a "cool city" or an "excellent city" or a "well governed city", or a "better city than yours" or anything like that
Nutty idea, sell off one of the best income streams they have, du-oh! Get rid off loss making businesses not ones that are making money. Simple economics. Hmm, borrowing their way to wealth? Isn’t this the way Aucklanders do this with houses? No one says they shouldn’t borrow for that (as they have an income stream). Just like airport shares. Brown needs to look at cutting Costs, reduce mayoralty and councilors wages for a start will help.
Get rid of that bloody Wayne walker one of his biggest hurdles doesn't represent the view of his area.
The mayor did not clearly state which loans are linked to shares? When was the loan raised against the shares?
What is the interest rate on that loan amount and rate?
Is there any debt attacted to the airport shares? If not then what has the happened to 720 m of dividends?
Perhaps this is just one more Sean Plunket beat up and that reporter Simon Wilson had a need to go to the lavatory?
Bit of a segway from climate change there
Sean your interview style for Wayne is appalling. You are not up to speed with the Mayors intellect
I like Wayne Brown’s attitude and I think the media has been wankers towards him, but I’m not sold on his performance yet. I guess I’ll let time tell, let’s see how he performs during his term as mayor.
Can I make a suggestion. You need to research the Mayors & Councillor's of Auckland, go back to and start with Sir Dove Meyer Robinson (please note he wanted a 'rail transit system' similar to London's underground) then move along from there. You will find that there has always been "history" between Mayor & Council - John Banks would be a good example- Phil Goff was a "former MP/Crown Minister under Helen Clark - not a notable person in either capacity - and nobody holds him to account for money spent on Ports of Auckland - odd that!
The number of income earners in Auckland continue to increase. This means the ability of people to pay increased rates is possible.
Firstly, what created the shortfall in current income streams that means there is shortfall.
Wayne doesnt have a style ... hes just a grumpy old, self congratulating, man ... but the other mayoral choice was tooooo woke ... ghastly !!!! But Wayne's got a tolerable ghastly ... when it comes to consumer products and services we dont settle for second best ... in politics we have to settle for far much, less ...
Wayne is a wise, well experienced and capable person that speaks with great knowledge and dedication to serving the people of Auckland. He is correct in saying these problems were apparent mid 2022 to anyone with a brain in their heads.
All of these problems are due to the lefty halfwit who was the mayor beforehand and the councilors that supported and indulged him, their incompetance and ignorance needs to be highlighted.
You poor, poor,little person.
How many kiwis have stopped using Air New Zealand, 1000's, just sell it.
'Climate change' will be used to lock us all down anyway - impoverished & subjugated peons will not be given leave to fly anywhere. UK policy will see public airtravel largely abolished by 2030 - NZ will follow suit as will most of the world.
Support the public library system Wayne !.
They are the only honest oragnisation in New Zealand in my opinion.
