Colonel Sanders should be on this list. I'm from Corbin KY. After all the stories I've heard about that man, let's just say Norm McDonald would call him "a real jerk."
Thanks for sharing. I was reading about Charles Dickins the other day because it was the Bard's birthday anniversary and I came across a few things. He was a thorn in everyone's side, the most hated because of his behaviour and outspoken injustices in anything. He was a champion of rights and change for all, while using his stories as an influence booster to change the world and whatever. But, while he was a friendly face to everyone, behind the scenes, it had a dark streak, violent temper and a typical ''Victorian mannerism to boot. His relationships was rotten and he was quite a nasty man, considering the legacy that he left behind. It wasn't until hundred years after his death that his books and character became popular. You know say he was the Dr (forgot how to spell it) and Mr Hide character.
thanks for sharing, didn't know a lot about this. That;s the thing, history is very elective on what it wants to be remembered, good and bad. It is weird how it goes
I am a teacher and I teach the bare min of Columbus. I don't make him sound like he found America. I just mention he was looking for a route to India and thought he found it.
If Alexander Graham Bell was anti- deaf, why did Helen Keller dedicate her memoir to him? And she paid him very high compliments and I know she was not an idiot. Nor did she hang around with people who weren’t allies.
His mother, wife and both daughters were all deaf. He made his living initially reaching ASL. So to say that he had a prejudice against deaf people is kind of odd.
You could do more lists similar to this probably for weeks. Like King Edward the 8th who leaned toward the Nazi party so it's a good thing he gave up the crown for Wallis Simpson. And Pablo Picasso sounded a lit like Dahli!a😮
Annette Gordon-Reed has expressed the view that it is racist to think that a black slave woman in 18c. Virginia could not have voluntarily had an affair with a white man, even if that man was her master, incidentally. Grant was the best president for civil rights in American history with the exception of Lyndon Johnson. Alexander Graham Bell dedicated his life to helping deaf people and his wife was deaf. No one in his lifetime thought in terms of death culture. It is unfortunate that like so many people of his time he believed in eugenics.
In 1884, Graham Bell published “Upon the Formation of a Deaf Variety of the Human Race” where he was terribly against deaf people marrying each other. He was even opposed to them socializing. I think apart from that he was pretty cool. It sounds like you are a fan of Grant... I didn't get the Annette Gordon-Reed part clearly.
I'm disappointed you put Oscar Wilde in here, and confused about the inclusion of H.G. Wells. While you acknowledge Oscar Wilde is unique amongst your inclusions in that the dark secret was what was done to him, not by him, I still think it a slap in the face of his memory to include him amongst so many vile people. What confuses me about H.G. Wells' inclusion is that you don't tell us anything dark that he did. He liked sex. He had an active sex life. So what? How is that dark? This seems to be a really toxically puritanical thing to say. Unless you can explain what he did that hurt or harmed other people, I don't see how you can justify his inclusion.
I have said this for years. A person who was really good to grow the country they live in they were not good family men and from this video not very good people at all.
Thomas Edison didn't even invent the light bulb he just got a new patent made of it that actually worked and we don't even know if that was his own creation.
There's even a high probability that Alexander Graham Bell stole his idea for the telephone by stealing it from an immigrant Italian that had the idea of previously but since he was working at a patent office and the guy was a immigrant that seeing as being a lowly person in society he's just took it. They should have had some kind of a policy if you were going to work at the patent office you had to be severely scrutinized for your invention. Or unable to submit because of the potential ability you've been stealing ideas.
These types of videos remind me of those newspapers at supermarket checkouts. “Camilla in serious mental state”, “King Charles to wed his sister “ Are we supposed to hate all these people now? Anything in your past you’d like never to be brought 20 years after you’re dead and can’t defend yourself?
I'm sorry but not liking certain behaviors or the cultural standards and practices of the majority of Jews doesn't mean you're a bad person. Replace. No culture or ethnicity is perfect and all cultures and ethnicities have things to be ashamed of
I was raised Jewish and I agree with you. No one is perfect and everyone is entitled to their own opinion however they should base that opinion on facts not stereotypes

Great topic, Mike!! I enjoy your facts while I have dinner after work 😊

You make a valid point there. She's one of my fave historical figures... 😉

WHO still thinks Columbus should in any way be celebrated? I think most of these are common knowledge.
Is Mike wearing a *Lord Of The Rings* hoodie?
I'd say he is, it's pretty cool
One hoodie to rule them all!!
I am always amazed at the things I learn from your videos. Thank you for that!
Don’t forget, J Edgar Hoover was also gay him and his personal Fred, who is also an FBI agent Hoover also reported dressing drag
I hear that recent evidence has come to light that even the vikings might have been beaten by the Romans to America

"And in darkness, bind them."
That was both informative and... grim.🤔
Enjoying this video
No he promised him 50 grand if he could fix his furnace, Tesla did fix it

We know so much in 2024 that those in the past do not. 100 years from now I can only guess how they will judge our "smartest" today.
I'm glad I won't be here.😂
do a list about brain injuries. I got one from getting hit by a car
Are you just trying to make the list...lol😅
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everything get better
Ah, Christopher Columbus, Where to start?
Great job again mike
Wow, these people had some really messed up ways of thinking. Edison and Thomas Jefferson don't surprise me though.

Crazy, crazy, crazy!!!
What does your shirt say?
Its the ring inscription from Lord of the Rings
I think you have a very exaggerated view of Christopher Columbus and Alexander GrahamBell who was married to a deaf lady.
It just shows being famous don't make you good
I never liked the look of Steve Jobs.
